Chapter 7 - 7 : Let the ship sail!

"Having two older brothers isn't always the best thing in the world, I love them and all but also with me being a girl and the last child made them get overprotective. Yes, like those typical older brothers they scare every guy that tries to confess to me outside school. But high school came and they were busy with work and college out in the country, so I thought I might get out of their sight, but I forgot I had two childhood friends who were as protective as them, so yeah. I only hang out with them and Sarah. Sometimes the others but they usually get intimidated by Sarah so they run away." I explained

"Unless it's a basketball, at first my friends were hella protective but seeing them having no weird intention they were like siblings they didn't mind because the guys were also protective. I feel I can't like anyone freely." I whined.

"But I always try to remember, it's for my safety, and because they care too much. Plus, they're like my bodyguards which was pretty cool since I didn't do anything like karate and taekwondo, so didn't need to feel scared, but I do know the basics, since Sarah was persistent to teach me saying 'One day when you have nobody near you, watching over you, the only thing you can do if know how to fight for yourself, don't get used to having other's fight for you'." I finally finished finishing my ramble.

Cassy being dramatic looked as if she had tears in her eyes. "How about now? Do those two friends of yours go to our college?" Zora asked, referring to my childhood friends.

I shook my head and smiled slightly, missing their presence. "No, but I still have Sarah, but she's right. Like right not I have no one watching over me." I sigh.

"Don't worry Lil precious, since you are now part of the team, you're now part of our family, and we are going to protect you, and I bet the guys will too, we have each other's back. So you don't ever have to feel lonely." Said Cassy, having me in an arm lock.

"Don't worry Kira." Added Ava as she patted my head.

I smiled at the thought of it. "Thanks, that meant a lot."

"Group hug!" Announced Dew.

-

"-This video is hilarious." Exclaimed Cassy referring to the TikTok she was showing. We were planning to follow a video when Dew noticed something that made her smile widely.

"JOJO! What business do you have here?" she asked amusingly.

Jo who was standing near us had a hand on his nape. "I wanted to borrow Akira for a while." He said.

Dew nudged me toward him, and I stood up.

Looking back at the girls they had their thumbs up, even Ava who was the calm one had a smirk on her face. I rolled my eyes at the sight.

We went down and out of the gym, with Jo leading the way out to a park.

"Sorry I had to drag you all the way out here,"

"It's fine," I assured him.

"So what do you want to talk about?"

"Um, I was wondering if you wanted to go around town since you're new here and maybe hangout." He explained with a tint of red on his cheeks.

Smiling at him I nodded. "Sure that'd be great."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," I chuckled.

"I'll text you the details later." He told me and we went back inside. Jo escorted me up the bleachers then went back to the table.

"That was quick," Zora commented.

The girls nodded in agreement, not satisfied at the lack of time.

"he wanted to show me around town," I explained.

"It's a date." Stated Cassy. Which made me remember the conversation I had with Sarah this morning.

I shook my head. "No, he's just being friendly." I tried to convince them.

"Jo is kind, but he doesn't go offering that to every girl he sees not even to us." Told Ava.

"see even Ava agrees." Pointed Dew.

"They're cute, I'd like the ship to say someday." Said Ava, which had the others shocked but agreed.

"See even Ava knows." Pointed Cassy once again. Ava just gave her a light laugh.

"Argh whatever floats your boat," I sigh knowing I wasn't winning anything.

"The only thing that's floating is you and my brother," smirked Dew.

Making me roll my eyes for the nth time today.

After that long chat tryouts were finished for the day and I had to go change for classes.

Finishing, I went to the vending machine to get a drink.

"Akira!" A voice called.

Searching for the voice I saw Andra and Jo coming my way. Looks like Andra was the one calling.

"Hey." I greeted them both.

"So, we were wondering what your plans were after the tryout." Asked Andra who had a huge smile on his face.

"Oh uh, I have class in a few minutes," I said sipping on the blueberry yoghurt drink.

"Great! I think Jo would love to walk you to class. Anyways I have to go bye." Now Andra was out of sight, leaving both of us alone.

"Um, he's...funny?" I said unsure of my words.

"well that's Andra for you, and sorry about that." He said sheepishly.

"No, it's fine, and you don't have to walk me, I can do it myself," I told him

"It's ok. The girls told me to walk you saying you needed someone with you." He explained with a blush forming.

"Oh. Uh, you don't have to; I mean they did force you right?"

"They didn't force me...well kind of, but I insist." He said determent. I nodded and thanked him.

We got to walk in silence but it wasn't the awkward kind and he escorted me to class. "Thank you. You didn't have to." I thanked him for the nth time.

He chuckled and ruffled my hair. "I said I insisted, don't feel bad, I didn't mind walking you. Anyways I have to go, bye." And he left me standing there speechless and struck, my stomach got tingly.

'Weird. What's this feeling? Was the yoghurt expired?' I thought I felt unfamiliar with the tingle.

I shook my head getting out of thought and went inside sitting in my usual place, Stephanie and Andrew hadn't arrived yet which made me think back on what the girls were saying. 'Does he like me?'

-

Class finished and us three went to the canteen hungry for food. We sat down with our meals.

"So I heard you getting along with the girls in basketball." Stephanie started.

Nodded at her. "How'd you know," I asked, I haven't told them anything.

"My sister is the Captain, you met Cloe right?" she asked, and I thought back at Cloe then looked at Stephanie.

"Ah no wonder she has a similar smile, and figure, is she a model too?" I asked which Stephanie nodded.

Andrew added. "Her family is full of models." And I was impressed, but then again she was gorgeous, Cloe too but she had a more mature look.

"By the way is Sarah home? I wanted to get some decorations done for your apartment." Said Stephanie.

Then I remembered something. "Nope, she's on a date with Danial," I said smugly.

"Seriously?! So we were right, she is going on a date." Said Andrew.

After lunch, we pretty much just went to my apartment to watch some Netflix together, but not long fell asleep.

But when Sarah came home we were all wide awake having the same wide grin on our faces.

"So how's the date?" we asked in sync.

Sarah looked at us weirdly. "You guys are creepy. And it wasn't a date." Sarah stated but her blush said otherwise.

"Oh come on, but you enjoyed it right," I exclaimed standing up from the couch to help her with the groceries.

We all moved to the kitchen sitting on the stools and I got everyone an apple.

Taking a bite of it Stephanie asked. "So how was it? Where'd he take you? What did you guys do?" she asked eagerly.

Sarah rolls her eyes at her behaviour. "We drove around and went to an aquarium, and got ice cream that's all." She explained, but we could see the slight smile forming on her face.

"It's a smile!" I pointed out, I haven't seen Sarah smiling for someone else other than our friends, and families. So this was new.

She then went back to her blank face and rolled an eye. She cooked dinner as the two stayed and went back to their habitats.

I just got out of the shower, trying to dry my hair with a towel when I caught sight of Sarah smiling at her phone, she was typing too.

'Oh, what's this?' I asked myself as I tried to creep behind her trying to get a peek out of her chat.

But failed miserably as she locked her phone sensing me behind her. "What are you doing Kira?" she sighs.

I groaned then flopped next to her. "Who's that?" I asked sweetly, wanting to know answers.

"No one."

Looking for a chance to snatch the device I eyed it carefully, but knowing Sarah she's always ahead of me.

"Don't even think about it," she spoke while typing on her phone.

"Oh come on it has to be someone," I whined.

"It's someone." She told me, but I knew right away.

"It's Danial," I exclaimed.

Sarah was about to protest when the doorbell rang. "I'll get that!" I shouted.
