Fog were everywhere as he walked around, before slowly realizing that he was in a building, a bar to be specific. He looked around. He heard the front door open, and quickly looked at that direction.
At first, he saw nothing, but then he slowly sees a figure in the fog. He felt hostility from it. Then, the figure revealed itself as the fog concealing it dissipated. A humanoid creature with it's head looking like it was covered by a hood. Immediately, the creature ran towards him.
In response, he quickly threw a punch at the creature, but it caught it. He then felt a smile— no, a smirk radiating from it. Next thing he knew, he felt an intense pain coming from his left arm. He quickly stumbled back as he held his arm, shocked that his left arm is deformed beyond recognition.
He then looked up, and saw that the creature was towering him.
It then wrapped it's hands around him, tightly, slowly choking him out of his air. He tried to fight back, but it was useless. He felt his last few of air left him, and then *snap*
He gasped, taking a deep breath. "It was a dream... it's just a dream Daniel..... take a deep breath... " He said to himself.
Daniel then looked down to distract himself. He looked at his table and saw a bunch of papers, mostly paperwork that hasn't been done, and an empty cup.
"Right, I was doing paperwork...." He then looked at the time and realize it's 7am. "Oh fuck...." He sighed to himself, realizing he slept for 4 hours and didn't even finish doing the paperwork that he was supposed to finish by today. He then put his head on the table, and groaned as he lightly tapped the table.
Then, Daniel heard the door opening and quickly looked up, only to see hooded figure to walk in, causing him to back up his seat in fear.
"Dan? It's me" The hooded figure announced with a worried voice, with a small hint of Russian accent laced to it.
Daniel recognize that voice as his wife's, and slowly calmed down. "Oh... hey Lena"
Lena walks into the room, closing the door behind before pulling down the hood, revealing her face. "Another nightmare?"
"Yeah" Answers Daniel as he put his hands on his table, supporting his head as he sighed.
"Poor you" Lena sympathetically said as she walked towards him and took a seat. She then gently grabbed his hands, "You gonna be alright?"
Daniel simply nodded, "Yeah, just give me a minute or two"
Then he looked up and stared at his wife, and realized she was wearing a raincoat, and noticed her hand was slightly wet. "Did you go on a patrol while it was raining heavily?"
"Mhm, all alone by myself" Lena said as she made a fake sad face. "And getting bullied by the storm"
"Ehehehe" Daniel nervously laughed, "I'm sorry, you know I was forced to finish the paperwork" Daniel explained himself.
"And is the paperwork done?" An authoritative voice said with a question out of sudden, and both of them looked at the door where the voice came from and see it was his big brother, Jeremy, standing by the door and holding a tablet.
"Uh.... "
Jeremy sighed and shook his head in disappointment.
"Just give me a few more hours big brother, I swear I will finish it!" Daniel pleaded to him, putting up a smile to try convince him.
Jeremy sighed and nodded, resulting Daniel to cheer quietly. Jeremy then continued, "But just to be sure," He looked at Lena, "Lena!"
"Yes?" Lena immediately looked to her brother in law once he called her.
"Help him with the paperwork, and make sure it's done in 2 hours." Jeremy ordered her.
"Got it" She answered with a smile before looking back at Daniel, and change the smile to an angry one at him. Who in turn, gulped quietly, as he knew she will make him suffer later since he unintentionally dragged her into doing the paperwork.
Jeremy rolled his eyes at the interaction between the two, and then coughed to get their attention. "Once you both are done, meet me and the rest at the meeting room."
"Why?" Daniel asked as he cleaned up his desk, with Lena helping him
"A contract is given personally to your team. That's all you need to know for now" Jeremy explained. He then walked to the door, and looked at Daniel one last time. "That paperwork better be at my table or I will make sure you will only do paperworks for the rest of the month." He then closed the door after giving the warning.
"Got it..." Daniel responded unenthusiastically. He started doing the paperwork, "Alright, let's finish this"
He get no response and looked at his wife and saw that she's staring at him. "What?"
"You owe me two sandwiches" She bluntly answered, and then started doing the paperwork.
"Fair enough"
"And you will be helping carrying my ammo on the next mission" She added.
"I deserve that"
