Chapter 5 - First day of work

Another pair of hands grabbed onto me.

"Relax man," Vin spoke.

"Alright already, just let me go," I pulled out of their arms. Olive and Clyde were busy checking on Telmore while for some reason Fargus was busy chanting the words holy shit.

"That was crazy... that was crazy dangerous," Olive said still holding the now recovered Telmore.

"You really lost at the end buddy," Hans dropped a towel on my shoulder.

"Me? That guy was going to kill me!" Like seriously.

I looked over at Telmore and finally got what they meant. The big guy was staggerring, barely able to walk a few steps wihout either Olive or Clyde holding him up. They had to sit him down on the ground again so he could completely recover, probably because he was to heavy to carry anyway.

"I guess Ian wasn't exaggerating about you wiping them out,"Fargus came up on my left, the surprise still in his eyes.

"No, Ian really warped that story," Clyde would never agree to it.

"You don't have to be so defensive about it, Telmore also lost to him so it isn't that bad," Vin went over and pat Clyde's head. They just wanted to make him mad. I kinda feel sorry for him, I can tell he always takes an L be it in fights, words or his crush who just happened to come up to us.

"Do you have to make me look for you. Now that I've hired you you must be available whenever I am in need of you," Autumn didn't really care much for the scene before her, "Look at the sweaty mess you are right now. I've wasted enough time already, go take a bath, I can't have you going around with me like that."

"You don't have to be rude about it, if anything I'm just doing part of my job, keeping fit so I'm ready in case of any trouble," the look in her eyes told she probably didn't care and I didn't want to start an argument with my boss when I just got the job so I hurried back to the main building.

The silence inside her horse drawn-coach was quite peaceful. I had recently realized we both had a tendency to run our mouths so not talking was the best way to avoid any conflict. But still, "Could you at least tell me where we're going?"

"Aren't you impatient for someone who made me wait half the morning because they were busy making friends," why did she have to have that smug smile on her face.

"It was quite the experience you know, making friends, you should try it sometime. Now for my question."

"We're shopping, you're real first work experience. I really needed someone to carry around my stuff. Don't disappoint me Eden," Should've known the real reason she hired me was for this.

"And don't complain. I'm getting you some clothes as well. Can't have you going around with me in that drab," She doesn't pull any punches does she.

"I' ll have you know these were made by the beautiful and sweet girl and given to me as present..."

"And your point is?" Autumn crossed her left leg over the other and leaned back on her seat with an amused smile.

"They're the work of an angel I tell you,"

"And this goddess is about to gift you with something even better, now quit your ramblings and have some gratitude for once." Quite the narcissist, isn't she. I'll leave it at that, we'd just go around in circles trying to annoy each other which isn't the model employer-employee relationship unless you're asking to be out of a job.

Thirty minutes of riding ended with us at the city shopping centre. The rich designs of various stores and shops was enough to tell you not everyone could come here and spend their money as they pleased.

"Enough gawking, we don't have all the time in the world," she made her way to the first shop right in front of her leaving me rushing after her. Just a single step inside and I was already blown away by the sickeningly sweet scent of perfumes. Different pieces of vibrant clothing lined up hung on neat rows of racks. The material all looked quite pricey. If this what she was getting me out of her own pocket then I'll quietly follow goddess.

We first went into the ladies section and Autumn took quite sometime browsing the various dresses on display. The attendant certainly didn't waste her time dragging us along with long expositions about every piece of clothing. She was hoping Autumn would buy off a lot of them which could actually happen. You could practically smell the money on her.

Eventually she settled on three blue dresses which I've come to learn is a her favorite color, all different styles and material, a green one as well , a pair of leather pants and some blouses. Overally the attendant and the store clerk were going to be very happy today because those were hella expensive.

She had them bagged and slipped in my arms like the shopping cart I was. And just like that we were out of the store leaving myself asking, why wasn't Eden getting anything.

"Umm...wasn't I also getting some clothes?" Somehow that question made her break into a fit of giggles.

"Oh please, like I'd spend that much on you. I needed some new for official functions and also just cause I liked them a lot. There's a shop down the street, we'll get you something there."

And we went on, shop after shop, buying perfumes as if what she had on right now wasn't enough to suffocate a grown man, jewelry, she got her nails done then a massage, got her hair done while the shopping bags just kept on piling and my arms were at their limit.

Finally we reached the proclaimed shop down the street. The clothes there weren't half bad, just not as expensive as hers. I picked a few pairs of pants, shirts all while having to check with her everytime I picked something since she was my wallet.

And she turned down quite a few of my choices and half of the clothes were ended up buying were her pick, and a lot of them were blue unfortunately.

"What are you looking like that for, now we can match. You'll look fabulous," whatever, I already expected it, I'll just roll with it.

"Now let's get something to eat. After all that walking I'm really hungry," at least your hands are free, at this point I'm a walking shop myself. At least I get to leave them in the coach and a free meal. I've kind of realised this life won't be bad at all. As long as I'm rolling with money bags over here everything's practically free for me.

"What's with the weird face?" Autumn's voice startled me. I must have let my train of thought form on my face. I doubt she'd be thrilled to learn that I think of her as my personal wallet.

"Nothing...just really thankful my wonderful boss picked out such things for me?" Even I had a hard time believing myself leaving out the way she narrowed her eyes.

"Stop making that face, it's creepy."

"Sure thing money--... boss," She really doesn't care what I think, does she. That works out great for me.
