Chapter 134 - Necromancer On The Loose

It's a windy, chilly night. Two gibbous moons could be seen in the sky. One blue, and one red. As usual, both moons are the same size and shape.

Rem's in the Haarah Desert. It's filled with dunes and it's usually extremely hot during the day. At night, it gets cooler, and sometimes, it could get slightly cold like right now.

'She has the same energy as those skeletons...!' Rem noticed as she began to stalk the woman in ragged, dark brown clothing by following her from behind.

The clothing the woman wore looked like ones a commoner would wear. She also wore an old cloak that's the same color as her clothes.

She is around 6 feet, and the woman also has a hood on. Nonetheless, Rem could still see the long strands of dark purple hair gliding in the wind.

"Why did my army's energy fade? For goodness sake, I've only just escaped...!" The woman muttered.

She was perplexed and anxious about what she should do next.

'Escaped...? Is she a criminal? I mean, the knights were fighting with those skeletons earlier. Could they be trying to capture her?' Rem wondered.

She continued to listen to what the woman was saying to herself.

"What should I do???"

The woman was now chewing on her right thumb.

There weren't any noises except for the sound of the wind passing by and the sound of the woman's breathing and almost silent footsteps.

The woman didn't say anything for a few minutes. All she did was to keep on walking in the same direction.

'I guess she's not going to speak anymore.'

Rem decided to show herself. She teleported a few meters in front of the woman.

Rem's pair of bloody red eyes meet with the woman's shimmering purple eyes.

The woman seemed panicked and alarmed by Rem's appearance.

"Who are you?" The woman asked cautiously.

'That's my question.' Rem thought.

"I'll be asking the questions." Rem said while emitting a 'you better listen to me unless you want to die' aura.

"Who are you and why did you attempt to attack Leroy City?" Rem questioned.

"This lowly one is Maya, an escaped prisoner, and a necromancer. I attacked Leroy City because I needed time in order for me to escape and completely wipe out my tracks." The woman named Maya claimed, bowing down to Rem.

From her experience, she knew who not to mess with and Maya knew that Rem was one of those who she shouldn't defy.

"Where did you escape from and why were you imprisoned?"

"I escaped from one of the dungeons near Leroy City recently. The dungeons are where they keep prisoners like me. I was imprisoned because I kept on bringing back the dead..."

"What can you revive?"

"I can revive almost anything as long as I have enough mana to do so."

'If she can do that, then why did she use skeletons? She could have used human bodies, which are sturdier than a mere skeleton. She can control thousands of skeletons. Did she not think this through?'

"Why did you choose to use skeletons?"

"Controlling others would cost me a lot of mana. I won't be able to make that many if I were to make an army of human soldiers. To be honest, I didn't think anyone could defeat my skeleton army, to begin with." Maya admitted.

'I see... Should I hand her over to those knights...? No... They would let her escape again anyway.'

"C-Can you please let me go? I promise not to cause you any trouble." Maya pleaded.

"Why should I let you go?"

"I know you're someone who wants to catch me since there's a reward for when I'm caught, dead or alive. I'll give you these if you let me go."

A purple aura surrounded the woman. The woman waved one of her hands and suddenly, there was a small, purple vortex on the ground. A dog-shaped like skeleton appeared out of the vortex while holding a box in its mouth.

The woman took the box and threw it towards Rem.

Rem catches the box and opens it, seeing a large red ore that was the size of Rem's hand inside.

'What are they...?' Rem wondered, holding the red ore in her hand.

Rem could see specks of a strong, red, aura around the ore. She inspected the red ore, curious to see what it was.

[Name: Athesol Mineral]

[Rank: ???]

[Description: This mineral is said to be unbreakable. Since only a few exist in this world, many think that this mineral is just a myth, and because of that, not many can turn this mineral into something great.]

'With this, I can create a powerful dagger.'

{You can't. It's best to ask the most skilled dwarf to use that mineral and turn it into whatever you want unless you want to waste that precious ore?}

'I'm not a blacksmith, but you're right. I was wondering... Is there a way to transfer Cynric's soul to this ore?'

「I'm not too sure, Master. This is the body I found myself in after waking up.」

{You can't because you don't have the abilities to do so. However, it's possible as long as you find the right person.}

'As long as it's possible. After staying in Leroy City and getting things done, I'll travel to where the dwarves live. Maybe someone there has the skills.'

"Why are you giving me this?" Rem asked, knowing that nothing is free no matter where she was.

"This is my family's heirloom. It's been passed down to me." Maya stated.

Rem could see that the woman before her was lying.

"I'm giving it to you because I have no use for it," Maya said as she looked at Rem in the eyes.

"Alright... I won't pry any further. I'll let you go, but if you hurt anyone I know or I find out that you're causing trouble for me, I won't hesitate to decapitate your head." Rem warned Maya, releasing her killing intent.

"Y-Yes, of course."

Maya trembled.

"You may leave now. Scram." Rem exclaimed, getting rid of her killing intent.

"Please let me make another deal with you," Maya said with determined eyes.

She was no longer trembling.

"It better not be a bad offer. Don't waste my time and say it." Rem demanded, letting the woman say the deal she wants to make with her.
