Chapter 103 - Stealing Isn't Good

Two days passed quickly.

*HONKKK!!!

"Attention all passengers!!! We've arrived at our destination! Please get all your belongings and prepare to exit this ship!" The commander of the ship yelled.

Everyone got ready to leave the ship. The ship soon became empty without any passengers.

'Karasu. Please examine this city for anything suspicious. While you do that, you can do whatever you want as long as you don't cause any trouble.' Rem told Karasu.

'Of course, Master!' Karasu replied, meeting up with a few other crows.

"Wow! This is Orthio City... It's quite different from Arka City. Orthio City is right next to the sea! It gives off this refreshing, warm vibe. You can even play near the shores!" Karina pointed out, looking like an excited little kid who wanted to play on the beach.

"For today, we'll wander and explore this city. Then, we'll find a place to stay at. After that, we can spend some time on the shores." Rem said, looking at the beautiful, unique scenery.

There were many shops near the shore. It was crowded and people of all ages were there. Some were fishing while others played in the sand. Many bought food from the small shops.

*Sniff, sniff...

Rem turned around, seeing Roy sniff the air.

"Smells good..." Roy exclaimed, trying not to drool.

"Hahaha... How about we buy some food first?" Rem suggested.

"Yes, yes! Let's go!!!" Oliver was jumping up and down, running towards one of the stands.

"Alright. We hadn't eaten since morning. It won't hurt to get lunch." Kaito agreed.

"Finally... If I can, I wish to never ride on a ship or go to sea again." Yukio exclaimed, sighing in relief.

Yukio looked much better now that he had gotten off the ship. As always, Yukino looked indifferent, not speaking at all.

"Hello, sir. May I get one of this, that, that one over there, the one at the corner, and this one please?" Oliver asked, ordering almost everything on the menu.

"Sure thing!" The man smiled, beginning to cook the food Oliver ordered.

After a few minutes, the man handed Oliver five different kinds of skewers.

"Thanks! Keep the change." Oliver ate his skewers happily.

"I want that!" Roy pointed.

'Isn't that takoyaki? This world has it too...?' Rem wasn't sure why something like this was in this world.

'Maybe it's just a coincidence.' Rem thought.

"Sure. How many do you want?"

"I want lots!" Roy stated, hand gesturing how much he wanted.

"You can't hold that many. Let's just order six for you for now. We can always get more, okay?"

"Okay." Roy nodded.

"May I get seven of these?" Rem asked, pointing at the cup of ball-shaped food.

"Of course, young lady!" The man immediately gave Rem seven cups of what Rem ordered.

"Thank you." Rem thanked, giving the man a few gold coins.

"That would be—"

"You may keep the change." Rem cut the man off, giving Roy is six cups of Takoyaki.

The man was shocked, seeing the gold coins. He then bit each one of them to see if it was real. Making sure that they were real, the man bowed at Rem, dazed, rethinking about what just happened.

"I've never seen any of this food before! Aw, I want some!!!" Karina stared at all the food Roy and Oliver were holding.

"It's all on me today. You guys may do whatever you want with these. Have fun." Rem threw a bag filled with coins to Karina.

"Don't forget to share them. I'll be exploring the shops and city." Rem added, walking towards the inner parts of the city.

"Thanks, and don't worry! I'll share them with the others!!!" Karina shouted, waving at Rem.

Roy followed Rem, munching on his food. Rem took a bit of her Takoyaki.

'Ah... This really does taste like Takoyaki.' Rem thought, savoring the taste.

The Takoyaki was ball-shaped and it has small chunks of octopus in it with some kind of sauces on top. There were also flakes on it. They were put inside a cup and there was even a toothpick for you to pick up the Takoyaki.

"You know, Roy. You don't have to follow me around all the time. You can go have fun. If you want, I can give you some money so you can explore this city yourself and buy as much food as you want." Rem told Roy, who was walking beside her.

"Really?" Roy looked at Rem.

"Of course. Here you go." Rem gave Roy a bag of gold coins.

Roy took the money, smiling brightly.

"Don't get into any trouble, alright?"

"Got it!" Roy immediately ran inside a food shop, ordering everything he wanted.

'This is the only time he looks and acts like a little kid.' Rem thought, smiling to herself.

Rem was walking until someone bumped into her. The person who bumped into her was a little girl who ran past Rem.

'What a sneaky little kid. She stole my pocket watch... Why did she have to steal the watch? Urgh...' Rem sighed, activating her stealth.

She followed the girl silently. After a few minutes, the girl ran into a dark area, between two old buildings that looked like nobody lived there.

'Hm...? What is this?' Rem wondered, continuing to follow the girl.

*Huff, huff...

The girl stopped running, trying to catch her breath. After a while, she ran inside a small, broken-down house. Inside, many little kids were living in there.

'Is this where they live? What in the world happened? They should have stolen my money instead of taking my watch.' Rem thought, watching the little girl.

"I'm back." The girl announced.

"Sister Kara is here!" One of the boys said happily, running towards the little girl to hug her.

"What's that?" A younger-looking boy asked.

"Can we get to eat something today...?" A girl smaller than the little girl asked.

At the corner of the room, there was another small girl.

"Look at what I got!" The little girl said proudly, showing everyone the watch.

"A watch?" One of the boys tilted his head.

"Yep! Today, we can finally eat some good food! I'm going to sell it now. Wait here patiently, okay?" The little girl said.

Everyone nodded except for the girl at the corner of the room.

"Where do you think you're going with my watch?" Rem asked, blocking the little girl who was about to leave.

"Y-You! You're the one I stole the watch from... H-How did you get here...?" The little girl was shocked and terrified.

She was trembling in fear.

"If you needed money, simply steal my money bag. Why did you have to steal that watch? The watch you're holding right now is really important to me." Rem explained.

"No, don't hurt big sister Kara!!!" The youngest boy stood in front of Rem and the little girl.

"Your name is Kara? Alright then. In exchange for my watch, I'll give you this bag of gold coins. What do you say? Deal?" Rem threw the bag of gold coins at Kara.

"H-Huh...?" Kara stuttered, catching the bag of coins Rem threw at her.

"You're really going to give this to us?" The girl asked.

"Of course." Rem replied.

"You won't hurt us?" The youngest boy looked up at Rem with worried and fearful eyes.

"Why would I?" Rem questioned.

"May I get my watch back now?" Rem asked politely.

The girl nodded, giving Rem the watch.

"Thanks." Rem put the watch inside her right pocket.

Rem was about to leave, but the girl stopped her.

"Please wait! May I get to know your name?" Kara asked, clenching on Rem's shirt.

"Rem." Rem answered, leaving the small, worn-down house.

'Is there an Adventurer's Guild in this city? There should be one, right...?'

{There is. I've located the location on the map already.}

'Thank you, 003.' Rem walked to a deserted area and shifted to look like the boy version of her.

Then, she opened the system's map, walking towards the direction of the Adventurer's Guild.
