'This is the Adventurer's Guild? It looks the same as the one from Arka City.' Rem thought, entering the place.
Suddenly, a tall, grumpy man with scars all around his body tripped and fell flat on his face.
"Guhhh... You!!! Hic! Do you know, hic! Who I am? Apologize to me this instance!" The man demanded, pointing at Rem.
"Why should I apologize to the likes of you? You were the one who caused yourself to fall." Rem argued, walking past the man.
"How dare you!!!" The man tried to grab Rem's shoulder.
In response, Rem used her palm to smack the back of the man's neck. Instantly, the man dropped down without moving. The bystanders were all staring at Rem with shocked faces.
"What just happened?" One of the bystanders asked, clearly confused.
"Am I seeing things?" Another bystander rubbed his eyes.
"Did that young boy just defeat one of the strongest, most feared gang leaders???" Someone else asked, looking at the young boy who was unfazed.
'How troublesome...' Rem thought, furrowing her brows.
"Don't worry. He's not dead." Rem announced.
'The person or people in charge here should do a better job on getting these people under control.' Rem faced the receptionist.
"Please don't let drunk people like him go wandering around here. If he had targeted someone else, they would have gotten hurt. They might have even died." Rem warned.
"Y-Yes, of course!" The receptionist replied anxiously.
"Can you update my card?" Rem asked, putting her adventurer's card on the table.
"H-Huh? Oh, yes!" The receptionist stuttered, taking the card and putting the card on a cardholder device.
When the card was on the device, a blue screen popped up above the device, showing the information that was stored in the card. After a while, the receptionist gave Rem back her card.
"Thank you for waiting. I've updated your card." The receptionist stated.
"Thank you." Rem looked at her card.
[Name: Rem
Level: 35
Rank: B
Element: Shadow]
'I think I'm done here.' Rem exited the Adventurer's Guild, acting as if nothing abnormally had happened.
'It's getting dark... I should find the others.' Rem thought, walking towards a place without any people to shift back into the girl version of herself.
...
"Is everyone here?" Rem asked, looking at everyone.
"Yes," Roy answered, still munching on some food.
"I already found a place for us to stay for a few days," Kaito exclaimed.
"I just found out that there's going to be a fireworks show soon! C'mon, let's go!!!" Karina ran towards a huge crowd of people near the beach.
Rem, Roy, Kaito, Yukio, and Yukino followed Karina.
"Wait for me!" Oliver ran towards the others, trying to catch up to them while balancing all the food he had bought.
"I'll go to you guys in a while. I have to do something real quick."
"Okay Remie, be quick because the fireworks are going to start soon!" Karina emphasized.
Rem nodded as she walked behind a nearby house.
After checking whether or not there were any people around her, Rem looked at the shadow.
"Nor, what is it?" Rem asked, staring at the shadow that was following her ever since she left the Adventurer's Guild.
"Oops, I got caught. I can never hide from you, Icy!" Nor sighed, slowly appeared from the shadow.
"Anyways... Do you want to hear the good news first or the bad news first?" Nor asked, tilting his head.
"Either one is fine." Rem stared at Nor suspiciously.
"Alright then... The good news is, not everyone is dead." Nor began.
"The bad news is... Well, pretty bad. First of all, Arka City had been taken over by the demons and those people from the Organization. Second, everyone who survived is currently being held as a prisoner or a slave." Nor continued.
'That was expected. I wonder how everyone I know is doing...'
"Do you know any details about what they're doing with the slaves?"
"Unfortunately, no. I couldn't get any more information other than these." Nor answered.
"Oh, yeah! Did I mention that there's going to be a huge war soon? We hadn't had a war ever since a century ago. I'm really looking forward to it!" Nor smiled like an evil scientist.
"Urgh... War is never a good thing. What wrong with you?" Rem looked at Nor like he was the craziest person she had ever met.
"Haha, I'm just stating my feelings about this situation. I wonder what you'll do..." Nor stared at Rem with his piercing, curious cat-like eyes.
"If that's all you have to say, you may go now," Rem exclaimed.
"Okay Icy. I'm a very busy person, you know? I'm off. See you some other time!" Nor waved at Rem, smiling.
'Geez, what's wrong with him? Is he that bored with life??? Is he even human...?' Rem questioned, watching the man disappear into the shadows in front of her.
Rem then walked back towards her group of friends casually, as if nothing had happened.
"I'm back. Sorry for the wait." Rem apologized.
"Took you long enough. After this, we need to talk. I have a few things I want to ask." Kaito whispered.
Looking at Kaito suspiciously, Rem had a feeling that he knew about who she was.
'Hm...' Rem and the others stood behind the fence.
There were a few areas where there were stairs to walk from the fence section to the beach. The floor was made of wood.
'A beach, huh...' Rem felt that she went to the beach with some other people before.
It was a hunch of hers.
"It's starting!!!" Karina beamed, pointing at the beautiful blue sky.
*Boom, boom, boom!!!
A bunch of colorful fireworks covered the sky. It was loud yet filled with laughter everywhere.
