*Beep, beep! Beep, beep! Beep, beep!

"Urghhh..." A girl groaned in annoyance, slamming the off button of her alarm as she continued to lay on her bed comfortably.

'So annoying…!'

"I'll just sleep for five more minutes..." She mumbled, falling fast asleep.

The girl rubbed her eyes, then glanced at the calendar that hinged on the left wall of her bedroom without getting up from her bed.

[Monday, April 1st, 2019]

'School… Again…' The girl sighed, turning her head to take a glance at the time on her alarm clock.

[8:32 AM]

'SH*T! I'm going to be late!!!' The girl yelled in her head.

She immediately got out of bed and got dressed.

She wore a white t-shirt, a thin black jacket perfect for the Spring weather, and some comfy black sweatpants on in a rush.

After a full 15 minutes, the girl was ready to leave. She grabbed her backpack and wore her shoes.

Before leaving, the girl looked at the time on her phone, which she would always have on her 24/7.

[8:48 AM]

'Twelve minutes is more than enough for me.' The girl smiled confidently, slamming the door to her apartment shut.

Usually, it takes her half an hour to arrive at school if she took her time.

'Those "bodyguards" aren't skilled enough to catch up to me...!' The girl ran to the staircase, going down two steps at a time.

Although she lives on the fifth floor all by herself, she didn't bother checking whether or not she locked the door.

The apartment the girl lives in has nobody in it, except for a few dozen men in black suits, and of course, the girl herself. No matter what the girl did, those men who were sent by the authorities would always watch her carefully, as she's a dangerous specimen. She would always be monitored and followed by those men in black suits wherever she goes. As time passed, the girl got used to those around her.

'As always, it's so vacant in this neighborhood. I have my suspicions, but it's not like I can do anything about them.' Her eyes furrowed slightly as she ran towards her school using a shortcut.

The girl's running speed is abnormally fast. Even when she stayed at home all day, her running speed was still as speedy as ever.

The girl has always lived her life like this for as long as she could remember. No family, no friends, no nothing. For as long as she could remember, everyone she met would avoid her. She's considered a genius, but she didn't ask to be one. She always feels like she's… shackled. A great number of things restricted her from doing the things she wanted.

Every day was the same. It was so monotonous that the girl would go crazy if she didn't have the existence of video games.

The same talented and smart girl is none other than Rem. Rem Erikawa. She's a 14-year-old girl. Her appearance was pretty normal. She has long jet-black hair that goes up to her back. She also has eyes so dark that they looked dead black.

Rem's currently 5,2. She's a little on the short side. Nonetheless, nobody would dare mess with her. She looks like your typical plain teenage girl, but that's not all that meets the eye.

Due to her high intelligence, this 14-year-old girl became a 12th grader.

Before the age of 8, Rem couldn't remember anything because, according to what the doctors told Rem, she was in a coma for a few months after getting into a car crash. Fortunately, she didn't receive any injuries or pain after waking up. The doctors said that all her injuries healed within a few months. They also said that she has amnesia.

Rem has always thought that the way the doctors acted was suspicious. Everything about the car crash incident was bizarre to her. It didn't make any sense, but then again, she couldn't remember anything. The only thing she found out was who she was, who her parents were, and the news that her parents died on a business trip to the other side of the world. At that time, she didn't know anything.

Rem found out that her parents were always busy since they own one of the most famous and successful companies in the world. From time to time, Rem would visit her parent's graves. She saw a picture of her mother and father. Her mother had light brown hair which was tied in a neat bun. Her name was Sakura Erikawa. Rem's father had black hair that looked formal. His name was Haruto Erikawa. Both of Rem's parents looked professional and had dark brown eyes.

Rem was told that she didn't have any relatives because they all passed away before she was born. She ended up inheriting her parent's money and company. In the future, she would have to take over her parent's business.

From the moment she woke up and even now, she doesn't have any access to what's happening outside. She only has the internet, some allowance, and every necessity humans need to live.

When Rem first woke up at the age of 8, she decided to learn as much as she can, and thus, for 2 years, she was cooped up in her room at her old home. From speaking different languages to doing martial arts, she was good at everything she tried.

At the age of 10, she moved out of her old home, which was in a mansion, to her current home, an apartment.

'Finally... I have arrived!!!' Rem thought happily, celebrating her arrival in her head.

Rem managed to get to school before the school gate closed. She ran so much, and yet she didn't break a sweat.

Rem looked at the time on her phone.

[8:58 AM]

'Phew, I'm not late.'

"If you were late again, you would have gotten into trouble!!! You've already been late 4 times this month. You should be more careful and add an extra-alarm this time!" The security man scolded Rem as he shook his head.

"Of course, Uncle. I'll be more careful..." Rem bowed.

"Stop calling me that!!!" The security guard fumed.

Rem ignored the security guard and walked at a quick pace towards the entrance to the school building.

When she was inside, she checked to see if anyone was in the halls.

'Great! There's nobody in sight.' Rem concluded.

She broke into a run towards her homeroom. After she turned to the right at the corner of the hall, she almost bumped into the janitor.

"Oi! No running in the halls!!!" The janitor who was holding a mop yelled.

'If I don't run, I'll really be late!' Rem yelled in her head.

She continued to run towards her homeroom, ignoring the janitor.

"Tch... Kids these days never listen to this old man anymore...!" The janitor shook his head as he sighed and went back to mopping the floor in the halls.

'I'm here!' Rem slammed the door to her homeroom open.

Everyone turned their heads and stared at Rem like she was some crazy mad scientist. The homeroom teacher was already in the classroom, including everyone else.

"Miss Erikawa, please go to your seat. Next time, don't slam the door so violently." The homeroom teacher scolded.

Before she could give a whole lecture to Rem, the bell rang.

*Ringgg!!!

'How lucky of me.' Rem thought, taking her time to walk to her seat.

None of the students said anything. Some stared at Rem while others just minded their own business.

Rem sat down and laid her head on the desk, closing her eyes while the homeroom teacher began to take attendance.

On Rem's first day at this school, a group of upperclassmen tried picking a fight with her. Rem didn't hesitate to beat them up. As a result, those students ended up in the hospital for a month. Of course, Rem paid for the hospital bills. After this fight, everyone would avoid Rem. People would call her a "Monster." Even the teachers can't do anything since Rem's grades are all honors. With nobody bothering Rem during her school days, life was pretty peaceful.

'It's over…!!!' Rem was overjoyed.

She grabbed her backpack and exited the school.

'I'll spend the rest of the day trying to defeat that level 1,000 boss!' It was the last boss she needed to defeat before she could finish that game.

'Hm... What should I do after I defeat the boss...? It's okay, I'll think about that later.'' Rem thought, walking towards her apartment.

Who could have guessed that she couldn't ever finish that game?
