It was the morning already. Rem ate some bear meat and took off. She realized that during her life in the forest, she was abnormally fast and she even had night vision which wasn't really surprising since she was a monster.
'Now where is the city?'
Rem left the forest in her monster form. Rem was a monster so she was able to sense her surroundings and everything alive near her. She has monster instincts and can also sense if something dangerous was coming. After an hour of running, Rem took a break.
'I'm thirsty...'
Rem was in grassland where there were only a few trees. She didn't see any water source near her so she decided to buy some water in the shop. Rem opened the shop and searched for water. She bought a few water bottles (with water in them obviously).
-[After drinking this bottle of water, you will be able to last a day without any water.]-
[Costs: 100 Uken]
'Wow, the only water the shop sells is Pure Water. Seriously? Oh well, I guess this is good. It's really cheap too.'
Rem changed to her beast-man form to drink the water from the bottle and then changed back to a monster. Rem continued to search for a city.
•••
Rem spent the whole morning trying to find a city. Finally, Rem could sense a lot of people and she could see the city from a distance.
'Wow. This city is pretty big! Time to be in my beast-man form.'
Rem turned into a beast-man and used her disguise skill. Now whenever someone checks her stats, it would look like this.
[Name: Rem]
[Race: Human]
[Job: Shadow Sorcerer]
[Level: 20]
Rem also hid her ears and tail so nobody would know that Rem was a beast-man.
^Note: Anyone can see a beast man's or half human's Name, Role(s), and Level. Anyone can see a human's Name, Job(s), and Level. Anyone can see a monster's Name, Role(s), Level, HP, and MP. Monsters are not able to see other race's stats. Instead, they can sense how strong someone or something is. Rem can see everyone's Element because she is a Kager. Disguises and illusions do not work on Rem because of her Hidden Ability, "Eye Of Truth".^
After she disguised her status and hid her ears and tail, Rem walked towards the gate.
The two guards stared at her curiously, wondering how a little girl like her was here, all alone.
"Hello? Are you ok?" Rem asked.
"Yes, I am. Are you lost? Where are your parents?" Guard two asked suspiciously.
"I'm not lost. I came here and met a few nice people who guided me. They left not long ago. My parents are also not here anymore." Rem made a depressed face.
"Oh, I see. That's quite unfortunate." Guard two pitied the young girl in front of him.
"You must be coming to this city so you can have a better life right? Do you want to go to the orphanage? I can take you there." Guard one offered.
"Yes, I'm going to the city. But I don't want to go to an orphanage. I need to learn to live on my own." Rem said as she shook her head.
"Alright... You may go in. Good luck." Guard one smiled sadly at Rem.
'What did this girl go through?' Guard one wondered.
"I pity this child..." Guard two told guard one after Rem left.
"Me too. I wish her luck." Guard one replied.

Rem put on her hood and went into the city.
'Wow... This city is huge! It kind of gives off the medieval kind of vibes.' Rem thought.
Rem explored the city for an hour and a half and came across an Adventurer's Guild.
'What's an Adventurer's Guild?' Rem wondered curiously.
Rem walked inside. The Adventurer's Guild was very crowded. Rem walked towards the quest board.
'Hmm... So I just have to do some quests and in return, I get some kind of reward? Sounds good...'
Rem grabbed a level C quest from the quest board and walked towards the guild table. She showed the quest to the lady working at the guild.
"I would like to do this quest." Rem said politely.
"Uhh... How old are you?" The lady replied.
"I'm not sure." Rem said to the lady.
"What do you mean you are not sure?" The lady asked.
"I can't remember anything except for my name. I think I'm around 13." Rem said as she made a sad expression.
"Where are your parents?"
"I don't know..."
"Please come with me. We need to confirm your identity first." The lady said as she walked towards the office.
"Okay..." Rem followed the guild lady.
"Wait a moment, please. I have to make a phone call." The lady went to her desk to grab the old fashioned phone. She dialed someone's number.
"Alright..." Rem waited patiently.
*Ringgg! Ringgg! Ringgg!
"Hello? What is it?"
Rem could hear a man's voice on the phone.
"There is a girl who claims that she has lost her memories. What should I do?" The lady asked.
"Search up her information." The man said.
"Alright, I'll try. Please wait for a moment, sir." The lady turned to Rem.
"What is your name?" The lady asked.
"Rem."
"Got it." The lady looked at the records book.
"Rem... Rem..."
"..."
The lady picked up the phone.
"Sir?"
"Yes?"
"There are no records about this girl whatsoever." The lady said.
"Are you sure you didn't miss her name or something?" The man asked.
"Yes, I'm sure." The lady replied.
"Alright, I'll be right there."
*Click.
The call ended and the lady sat on a chair. She looked back at Rem.
"Please wait for a moment. The guild master is coming this way."
"I see..."
It was very quiet and awkward. The mood was making Rem feel uncomfortable.
'I just hope he doesn't take a long time to get here... I don't have all day. The atmosphere is suffocating...' Rem thought.
•••
After ten minutes, the Guild Master arrived. Everyone in the guild was whispering and muttering, wondering why the Guild Master, who barely visits the guild, would come today. The Guild Master walked towards the office.
*Knock, knock.
"May I come in?" The Guild Master asked.
"Of course. This is your office anyway." The lady replied.
The Guild Master walked inside the office room.
"I will leave while you guys talk." The lady left the office room.
*Ahem.
"Hello there." The Guild Master smiled at Rem.
"Hi." Rem said quietly.
"My name is Fano. I am the Guild Master of Arka city."The Guild Master said.
The Guild Master was a tall man, probably around 5,10. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He was average looking and looked very young.
'He seems around 20..?' Rem thought, looking at the Guild Master.
Rem could sense that the Guild Master was very powerful. She inspected the Guild Master's status.
[Name: Fano]
[Race: Human]
[Job: ???]
[Level: ???]
[HP: ???]
[MP: ???]
[Element: ???]
'Wow... All question marks... I guess my level is too low.'
"What is your name?" The Guild Master asked.
"Rem."
"Age?"
"I believe I'm around 13 years old."
"Level?"
"20."
The Guild Master looked at the device on the table. The device was green.
'Is that perhaps a lie detector..?' Rem wondered but asked Fano about it just to make sure.
"What is that device?" Rem asked curiously.
"Oh, this is a lie detector. Whenever this turns red, that means that the person is lying. Green means that you are telling the truth." The Guild Master said.
"I see... Interesting."
"I'll just get to the point. What is a thirteen-year-old who is level twenty, with absolutely no past information about themselves, doing by yourself here?"
"I woke up in a forest and came across this city. I don't know where my parents are or who I am. I just know my name."
The guild master glanced at the device. The device remained green.
"I see... I will help you. Hmm... I would give you an adventurer's card if I can but since you are only thirteen, you are required to go to school. You need to graduate from school first. Then, you will be able to get an adventurer's card. Right now I cannot give you an adventurer's card because this is against the law. I'm sorry but the only way for you to get an adventurer's card is by graduating from school."
"Is it possible to skip grades?" Rem asked.
"Yes, it is but you would have to take some tests. I can see that you have a lot of potentials. You will be going to Starim Academy tomorrow. I will call the principal of the academy so she knows that there will be a transfer student. All the school supplies will be prepared for you, including your uniform. Everything will be delivered to you by seven in the morning tomorrow. The school also provides you a dorm so you don't have to worry about the supplies or where you should live. I'm almost a hundred percent sure that school starts at 8 a.m. so try not to be late to class. I used to go to Starim Academy, you know?" The Guild Master said proudly.
"Okay..." Annoyed that she had to go to school, Rem asked, "Do you know where the inn is? I need to sleep somewhere."
"There's an inn a street away from here. It's towards the East." Fano replied.
"Thank you."
"Someone will deliver the stuff to your dorm. Your uniform will be delivered to you at the inn you are staying at. You should also take this." Fano handed Rem a bag of money with a few copper and silver coins.
"Thank you again. It's getting late so I'll get going now. Bye." Rem walked towards the door and waved without turning back.
'Weird... This had never happened before. This girl does not have any memories of her life. Anyways, how can someone who's already thirteen not have any past information about themselves? There has to be some kind of record about her. What is a thirteen-year-old doing by herself anyway? She doesn't even have a guardian to take care of her... Plus she is level twenty. A regular thirteen years old would be around level eight... She sure is strong for a mere thirteen-year-old.' Fano thought to himself.
•••
Rem arrived at the inn. She walked in with her hood still on. She walked towards the innkeeper.
"Good evening. I would like to stay in a room for the night. How much is it?" Rem asked.
"That will be a silver coin." The innkeeper said.
"Alright, here."
Rem threw a silver coin on the table.
*Clink.
"Thank you. Your room will be on the second floor. It's in room R5. Here's the key." The innkeeper handed Rem the key to her room.
"Thanks."
"You are welcome. Have a nice stay." The innkeeper replied.
Rem went to her room. She locked the door and shifted to her monster form. Rem laid on the bed and almost instantly fell asleep.
