Two ladies at two different place with the restless heart and different reasons tried to calm themself by gazing at the garden. One worried about protecting a stranger she got to know recently. In contrast, another was craving to spill the blood of name-sake nephew who was saved at the last moment by her so-called stepson, whose life she thought she ruined utterly to dirt.
The gentle breeze did not calm the agitated heart of Yang Ming Jee gazed at the lotus pond. She felt lost. She wanted to call her brother and make him talk with the twins. But she did not know if it were something Young Jae would appreciate. She did not want to overstep her boundaries, but the worries started to eat her up. Her brother and twins did not tell her what happened with Young Jae. She knew they do not want her to worry as she would be leaving the country soon. But she was worried anyway.
She was conflicted with concerns already.
Twins might be physically powerful, but they have a long way to go to confront the Moon family face-to-face. So they don't have the power to protect Young Jae from the Moon family if the family wants to torment him. BB, on the other hand, was a different story. What made everything worse or best was Young Jae was worth fighting till everything last ability one has. But BB neither knew him nor care for him. Will he be willing to protect him?
She was surprised how Young Jae grew into her guarded life without even doing anything in such a short time. Maybe it was his vulnerable state and an innocent soul that made it easy for her to have an affection for him.
If she could stay here in Daehanmingug or take Young Jae to Germany, it would be better for everyone.
A defeated sigh left her.
She stared at the Japnese wagtail patiently sitting by the pond. She followed its keen eyesight only to notice worm crawling out of the plant's root. Within a minute the Japnese wagtail pecked the worm into its beak and flew back to the nest. She could not see the nest, but she heard the excited chirping. 'Survival of the fittest' she scoffed as the words flashed over her mind. The term she despised the more but had seen it happening a lot in real life.
The phone in her hand vibrated only to bring her back to reality.
Without even second thought, she picked it when she saw the caller's name.
"Oppa! Is everything okay?"
"Moon Chin Hwa is getting desperate to know Young Jae's condition. They are trying to bribe people in the hospital. BB just got the information about it. We have to do something before he does something drastically. He asked me to ask you what to do?" Even though Kang Chin Mae was talking, his eyes observed the man in front of him.
BB told him about the Moon Chin Hwa's movement and then went to the cradle to watch the Chin Mae's son. Chin Mae understood BB's move. Neither he nor BB knew Young Jae enough. So they never cared much about him.
Above all, Young Jae was someone from the Moon family. Naturally, BB won't care. But Chin Mae was confused why he was asked to discuss it with baby-doll and not his idiot twin brother.
"Looks like he wants to make sure Young Jae Oppa never raises the head." Chin Mae noticed the softening of Ming Jae's tone when she said Young Jae Oppa.
Chin Mae glanced at BB clearly understanding the meaning. 'I just wanted to give forward the kindness I got from BB to Young Jae. But it seems like Young Jae is more than giving forward. He mattered. He mattered to the sister I grew up with. I did not expect this turn of the event, but now he matters to me.'
"What do you think we should do?" Kang Chin Mae resigned to his fate and decided to treat Young Jae as his cousin rather than a close acquaintance like he planned before.
"Let's give him what he wants. Tell the staff's to inform about Young Jae Oppa's health. But partially. Don't give away anything crucial. Don't let Moon Chin Hwa find out any good news. If possible, exaggerate and bluff something. You are good at it anyway. It would be better if they think the chance of Oppa getting better and get his eyesight back was slim. Laying low would help Oppa in getting better now. I will discuss with Chin Hae Oppa and Young Jae Oppa before we do anything in the future." Ming Jee spoke decisively, and Kang Chin Mae agreed readily and about to end the call.
A concerned voice of the sister he grew up with stopped him abruptly. "Is Oraboni nearby?"
The phone was passed on Yang Ming Jee's elder brother.
"Oraboni, Young Jae Oppa is losing hope in himself. He needs strong social support, or else he might do something to himself." BB always admired his little sister because she never beat around the bush and always rushed to the neck. But a namesake exchange of pleasantries would have been nice.
"Oh... I know you care for him. But is it necessary for you to worry about him this much? You can't be everyone's saviour." BB cut her off.
A small smile grazed her lips. A genuine smile since she spoke with her uncle Ro. "Oraboni! I consider myself lucky. My father beat me to pulp and left me to die, next to my dying mother when I was a kid. Imagine something like that happening when I am an adult and not a kid. Imagine growing up with someone and then to be beaten up by them for what you are. I am not saying I understand his pain, but I can relate to an extent. The worse part is that you and I know where it might end. Above all, Samchon is also worried after hearing Young Jae Oppa's family was homophobic. You know samchon's story better than anyone." her words put dragger in his heart.
One thing that was always a painful thorn in the heart was his adopted sister's childhood trauma. She rarely mentioned it, and hence he thought she was out of it. But BB realised that she was still aching about it.
And their samchon's always covered his pain with a smile and crazy antics. But everyone knew, deep inside, he craves for what he lost, and everything else is a facade, hoping for everything to turn good one day like how it was before everything went down the drain in his life.
"I will make sure these two idiots take care of that boy. If needed, I will intervene. From this moment, whether that boy likes it or not, he would be shielded from the Moon family by us. Happy?" BB knew he should assure his sister or else she might be worrying about it for a long time.
"Very much. You are the best brother in the world!" baby-doll praised her brother to appease him. She ended the call, finally letting out a relaxed breath.
She was sure she upset her elder brother by talking about her childhood. But she never lied her life. And, she was used to saying everything to her brother without hiding. Old habits do die hard.
With a sigh, she turned around only to see Min Jun standing there with a distraught expression.
"I did not know that you can walk like a ghost?" she tried to tease him. But he took big strides towards her and engulfed her in a big-tight hug.
Her childhood was a thorn not only in her big brother's heart but on everyone who grew up with her. Min Jun was no exception. "I am sorry. I could not protect you back then."
