Lydia's parents should have taken the police escort with them that evening. Lydia was scared after they left the J.P.'s office, they had lunch, then her dad said that they'll leave in half an hours time. Lydia had a gut feeling, she didn't know why, but just as her dad said that, she felt it. She ignored that feeling, she was just a bit anxious of going there without a police escort, but could not tell her dad. Three of them went to retrieved Lydia's stuff, Lydia, her mom and her dad, no one else.
When they arrive at Lydia's in-law's, Lydia found it strange to see that they were all cleaning.
"Today, even though they know that I was coming to collect my stuff," Lydia thought.
Lydia told her parents, but they just told her that there's nothing to worry about, that they are there with her and that no harm would come to her.
This is how Lydia saw everyone, Ronald was sitting on the stairs of their house in the back, his three sisters, three brothers, two nieces and one nephew, were all cleaning from beneath the house right out to the front yard. They all had some sort of tool in their hands, even so the small house that they had, one bedroom, kitchen, living room and porch, that was blocked around with galvanize.
Strange as it seemed, Ronald's eldest sister came out to welcome them with a smile on her face. Lydia thought she was just being ridiculous. While they were chatting, Lydia asked why did they block the windows of the house. Ronald's sister simply said to keep anyone from breaking in, that there has been a lot of break-ins in the neighborhood lately. Lydia tummy was hurting again, she was scared but her parents looked comfortable, so she tried to relax.
they were all talking and laughing when Ronald called out to Lydia, to get her stuff. Lydia asked her mom to accompany her but Ronald insisted that she come alone, that she'll be okay. Lydia's dad sternly told her to go get her stuff so that they can leave.
Lydia's instinct was telling her that something was wrong, her stomach was churning, not sure what she was feeling, but she did as her dad told her.
As Lydia stepped into the wooden structure of there little house, Ronald bolted the door. Lydia was in shocked, but tried to go towards the door. Ronald would not let her, he was much stronger than her. Lydia called out to her mom, but all she heard was noise , loud talking as if they were arguing. She was not sure if her mom heard her, what she was hearing though was that they were yelling to her parents that they need to leave and not come back. Lydia sneaked a peek by the window and saw that Ronald's relatives were going towards them with the tools they had in there hands and insisted that they leave or else they would have to hurt them.
Lydia heard her mom saying, "Lydia we would come back for you, we're going to get the police."
After Lydia's parents had left, they all sat beneath the house plotting against Lydia and her parents. Ronald's eldest sister told him not to let her go.
"Make sure to give her what she deserve, let she have it. she wanted to leave, let she try it now," She demanded of Ronald.
He let go of his hold on Lydia, just then she rushed to the door, Ronald called out to his sister letting her know. She walked up to the door and watched Lydia, with intent and an ice-pick in her hand.
"If you do not open this door right now, I'll break it," Lydia screamed.
"If you break that door, I'll prick your eyes out with this ice-pick," Ronald's sister yelled at her.
Lydia hesitated, considering her situation, she turned around and went to her room, sat on her bed thinking. She heard the front door open then shut. Lydia got up, looked around, every window was blocked off with galvanize, even the back door was nailed shut, there was no way out.
"Why do they want to lock me in, they told the J.P. that I can come to collect my stuff, then why do this?" Lydia asked herself.
Lydia peeped through the crack by the window, she can see them whispering softly. His sister telling him what to do and how to do it. He got up and started towards the house, she told him when he's finished with her, let her know.
Lydia didn't know what they were talking about, but she went back to the bed and sat down. The bedroom door had no lock, so she could not stop him from entering. Lydia was so scared right now, her stomach was aching.
"What is he up to?" She asked herself.
He walked up to her and said, that she's here to stay, that she is his wife. Whatever happens no one is going to come to help her. He brought some flour and some potato, told her to make bake and potatoes for him. Lydia told him that she's not doing that, she just want to go home to her parents. He scolded her saying, you'll cook that food or I'll call my sister. Lydia did as she was told, she made the bake and potatoes, he ate all of it. He did not leave any or offer any of it to Lydia. Lydia sat on the bed sobbing softly, he told her that sobbing won't help her after he's finished with her.
It was almost six in the afternoon, Lydia wanted to clean up herself, just to have a quick shower, so she asked Ronald to let her go out to the bathroom. He snapped at her, saying that she wants to go outside to run away, he told her whatever she needs to do she can do it right in there.
He stormed out off the house, locked the door behind him. He returned a few minutes later with a bucket in his hand, stating that Lydia would use that as her bathroom and toilet.
Lydia couldn't believe what she was hearing, no food no washroom, she wondered what else is he up to.
Ronald walked up to Lydia, asked her for her ring, she told him that she left it at her parents, he yanked her shirt open. Lydia got more scared, he saw the ring on a chain that her mom gaved her around her neck. He yanked it of just as well. He told her that he was going to take what is rightfully his, he forced himself on her , over and over again. Even though Lydia screamed for help no one came forth. Lydia was in pain, she was ripped, bruised, her skin was a reddish blue, after his brutal attack on her. This brutal attack didn't stop there, it continued on throughout the night. He would sleep and get back up and again and again he would take her. Lydia prayed that God would help her through this ordeal, she begged God to get her out of here.
Lydia got about half an hour sleep, early next morning, she dreamt her deceased grandfather telling her it's okay. She woke up scared, her body hurt, she couldn't even go take a bath. Ronald's sister came to the door, asked to come in. She asked him if he did it, he answered, yes. She was pleased, said she needed to have a word with Lydia. She told Lydia that they were taking her to town today and she expects her to behave herself.
Wonder where are they taking her...
