Lydia thanked the gentleman again for taking time to drop her home, she pleaded with him so that she could call her dad out to pay him, but he refused. Lydia's dad came out to see who was out side, when he saw Lydia, he said, "Oh, so you reach home then."
Her dad offered money to the old neighbour, that they knew. But again he refused and said, that he's only happy to bring her home safely. Lydia's dad showed gratefulness, thankful that she was safely home.
After the gentleman left, Lydia's mom asked her if she was alright. Lydia answered no she wasn't. Lydia asked them what was going on, that she thought they were coming back for her with the police, what happened? They answered by saying, that when they went to the police station, they did not get an officer to come with them, so they came back home as they did not know what else to do.
Lydia asked them if they weren't worried about her.
They said, "Yes but what did you want we to do?"
Her mom then asked her, as she started to sob lightly, "What's wrong, what did they do to you?"
"I need a hug mom, I just need to feel safe and you're standing there just asking question?" Lydia watched her mom and thought.
Lydia was locked up against her will, in front of her parents and they're acting as if it's nothing. They did not even looked as if they were worried, not at all. Her mom asked her what happened after they left, Lydia was still in tears as she told her mom and dad her sad story of what had happened. When her mom heard the part where she was given nothing to eat since the day before, she quickly got up, went to the kitchen and brought food for her. Little does she know that there's no way that Lydia can eat unless she had a bath.
As her mom sat down where she were, Lydia continued with her story. She told them how they didn't let her bathe and how he forced himself over and over and over again, every time he would wake up , he would take her. Her parents watched in ore, they didn't say a word.
Her dad told her to eat something and then they'll go to the police station to make a report. Her mom told her that she should take a shower, she did as she was told.
Lydia was afraid to touch herself, afraid of the pain. As the water ran over her bruised areas, it burnt, she squirm to every burning sensation. It did feel good to wash her body , to get Ronald's touch of her, even though it's burnt into her memory.
Lydia was so scared that she could not go to the shower alone, she asked one of her sisters to stand outside the bathroom until she's finished. Just the thought of him and his family, makes her knees froze, in a way that she's unable to walk.
Lydia was exhausted, tired, she just wanted to put her head on a pillow and close her eyes.
The officers at the police station asked a lot of question, they even laughed at the idea of a husband forcing himself on his wife. Lydia felt a bit humiliated and ashamed. They made her feel as though she was making this up. One officer told her that this happens all the time, the husband and wife had a serious argument and the wife is ready to bring him up on charges. He told her to go home with her parents, sleep it off and the next day her husband will come and make amends.
They weren't listening to Lydia, They were making their own assumptions of what happened. After an hour or two, a senior officer came and ask them if they are getting help. Lydia stood up and told him that she has been married for eight months, her husband tried to hurt her on many occasions. Now that she plan to leave him, he held her against her will, gaved her nothing to eat or drink, did not let her bathe since the day before and not forgetting that he forced himself on her, over and over again, yet no one came to her rescue. She told him that the J.P. and the officer at the court house helped her to escape, but she came there to get help and his officers laughed at her.
The officer remained silent and listened, he then apologised for the other officers behavior. He told her that she should have gone to get a medical from the doctor's office, but since she had showered it won't do. Lydia's dad said we did not know the procedure. He wrote the reports, then told us that we'll have to meet the J.P. on Monday.
Nothing came of that, court proceedings went unheard, Ronald did not show for any. The Judge finally got tired and signed the divorce papers, she's free.
Lydia thought she was free from him, but she was wrong. Where ever she went, she always had to look over her shoulders, thinking who's there. This on time he was caught hiding in the bushes watching her. They once promised to hurt her, so if Ronald couldn't have her, no other man should.
Her mom and dad sent her across the country for a while. When she came back things were different. Her mom told her that they, her mom and dad, decided that she should go look for a job. What job could they find for Lydia and where.
Her parents found the perfect job, Babysitting, not too far from home though. Lydia enjoyed it, for she loved children, she was also very good at it.
One day she had to walk all the way home, as she reached half way up, she saw a guy riding a bicycle on the way down. The closer he got the more scary he looked, suddenly Lydia's legs refused to move. It was Ronald, he did not stop though as a very nice old lady, who knew Lydia came to see why she was just standing there. Lydia told the lady that she froze when she saw him, that she needs to reach home quickly.
The old lady told her to go as quickly as she can, when Lydia reached home, she went straight to her room and folded herself to a corner. Her parents didn't seemed concern as they did not ask her, why she was so scared.
