Chapter 14 - My Long and Dear Grandfather

The beauty of enchanted places was that they had no relation with the current time or place; as my grandfather once told me about it when I was only at four. "A piece of life, time, and amazing place is taken from somewhere and brought here, frozen forever. never age, never wither," he said, with his strong deep and warm voice that could turn my entire world as a child upside down only to be with him.

He was my first and only love, the one I always felt being happy and free with. My mind still held a picture of his face, like the enchanted corridor he took me once there. He was kind, wise, lovable, and dependable; I never recalled any moment of fear or doubt when he was alive.

That day he took me in a tour, said many things that I couldn't remember before, however just as I was stepping into this huge room, that was even bigger than the current mansion I was in, his voice appeared again in my ears, whispering softly like in old days: Never forget, never forget my child.

"Forget what?" I turned to speak to a shadow of a distant past; of no one. I sighed, as I only faced the golden wall, with the reflection of my face being wavy on it.

"Sigh, it happened a long time ago, I was still shorter than his knees at that time," I said, while shaking my head, trying to shake off these disturbing thoughts and vague warnings.

The room in front of me wasn't suited to be called a room; it was a hall. A huge hall that was best to be a throne hall of a long lost king.

"Tada, here is our secret place, impressed, right?" Oly jumped into the room from the outside world. The room was already picturing a sunny clear day, so it was warm, bright, and the golden rays that appeared through the door were real sun rays, penetrating the hall through a huge frontal mosaic that took the entire upper half of a single wall.

And, strange it might seem, these rays fell upon the door, only the door, enlightening it, while the rest of the hall was lightened up by light from the outside.

"It's not a little room, it's a huge room, little liar," I teased her while holding her head and rubbing the knuckles of hand over her scalp. "Stop stop, we were just trying to surprise you," she hurriedly said, begging for mercy.

"Fine, you are pardoned, but that little punny," I paused, as I turned to catch the little punny as she just entered the hall, "I won't pardon her that easily!"

Caught and punished, the three had it right and fair from my knuckles. After I finished, and they tried to run after me to repay the kindness, we reached the centre of this hall, where there were new pieces of furniture scattered everywhere.

I was just thinking, while running away from the three little devils' clutches, why there was no furniture frozen like this place.

And suddenly, I felt a warm light enveloping me, with the old and familiar old care and love of my grandfather, taking hold of me again, as his warm and close to the ear, mind, and soul voice came whispering as his usual: No old is permitted there, only light and warmth are allowed to enter.

Then I stood in my place, while his voice was moving, far away, like water dripping from the spaces of my fingers: Don't forget, it's the haven.

"Bella, are you alright?" this sound came, jolting me awake, and I took a deep long breath like I didn't breath for ages! "What?" I turned to glance at Emma, who was looking with worry to me. "The light suddenly moved, shone upon you for a moment, before returning back to the wall," little punny jumped to me, as she added with her loud and annoying voice:

"How did you do that? I want to grab the light, I want it too. Big sis, teach me, please."

I simply glanced, with an expressionless face, towards all of them, and it was confirmed through their gazes and silence; the light did move, and the sun rays fell upon me.

Was this a sign? What was going on here?
