Chapter 85 - Church

"This is the church the man was talking about? It looks like it'll collapse at any moment." I said, putting my hands in my pockets.

"I guess so. The man did say it was abandoned so it makes sense that it looks like this." Alice said.

We all looked at the building for a moment before turning to each other and shrugging. The church looked like a place where you'd see a ghost. Though I've already had my fair share of ghosts. I never did really find out what was really happening though. Mina just entered the house and took the ghost away.

I took a step towards the church but heard my name get called behind me. I turned around to see who called me and saw Ashe with a couple of people from his guild behind him.

"Ashe? What are you doing in a place like this?" I asked.

"I was told that strange people had been going into the church recently even though it was abandoned and I wanted to check it out. I'm guessing you're here for the same reason?" Ashe asked.

I nodded my head. I wasn't against the whole idea of having more people with us. The last time I cough Ren and the masked person I got crushed. With where I'm at now I'm still not even close to as good as them.

I turned back around and continued walking towards the church. I could hear Ashe and his group run up next to Alice and Serene. I stopped at the front door and took a deep breath before opening it.

As I expected, the church was a complete mess. There was a hole in the roof that allowed sunlight to go through. Chairs had been flipped over and there were scratches on the walls that seemed way bigger than what a normal person could do. I walked over to a random bookshelf and looked at it.

"I'm guessing there's probably some secret entry to where these people are hiding. For all I know it could be behind this book." I said, removing a book off the bookshelf.

The shelf began to shake suddenly. It began to move to the side revealing a small door. To say I was disappointed with how fast I found this secret door would be an understatement. I turned around to face everyone but they just shrugged. I sighed and opened the door which revealed a staircase that led into darkness.

"I don't think I wanna go down there. Anytime a staircase leads into a dark room something bad happens." I said, trying to back away.

"Oh please. Those are just stories you've read. I'm sure nothing too bad will be down there. Probably." Alice said.

The probably didn't help me one bit. But I decided to suck it up and walk down the stairs. They went down in a spiral shape and made a creaking noise every time I took a step. I hated every part of this.

Finally the stairs came to a stop revealing another door. The sound of people talking could be heard from behind the door. I leaned towards the door so I could hear what they were saying.
