" Let me take you home." Mastace offered once Briggan's sobbing was reduced to just a few sniffles here and there. " You don't need to be here today." Briggan simply nodded, and let Mastace lead him off the school's campus.
What am I doing? First, I cry into his chest and now I'm letting him take me home? Briggan looked up at Mastace, into his deep, hazel eyes. He couldn'tn't see any malicious intent anywhere. Briggan didn't see even the slightest whisper of a hint that Mastace wasn't what he appeared to be. Briggan was excellent at finding that in others (though he'll never admit it to anyone), but that didn't seem to be Mastace at all.
Maybe, just maybe, he might be someone that I can put my trust in.
Mastace followed Briggan closely as he led the way to his house. He was silent the entire way so far. I'm sure he has a lot on his mind right now. Besides, I'd bet he feels really drained after what just happened. Mastace left the moment alone, not wanting to speak.
A few more minutes go by, and Briggan broke the silence.
" Why are you taking me home?"
" I thought that you'd want some privacy while you sort out your thoughts."
" Oh ... okay." Briggan said.
Really? That's all I can come up with? Oh ... okay? What the fuck is wrong with me? It's like ever since I met Mastace, I've become this blubbering idiot! What is going on with me? How does he do this to my head? Why am I the focus of all this?
Damn, Mastace. Why are you being so good to me?
