Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2 - CROSSING OVER

The cinematic was a short video where an adventurer reached the last stage of the tower after great difficulties. He met with a genderless entity that showed him a new world, bigger than his. The adventurer took out an item he's been holding and held it the entity who took it from him.

The entity murmured a few words to the item while the adventurer kept watching. A few moments later, the entity stopped and spoke to the adventurer in a voice that reverberated through the entire hall and seemed as if the naked stars in the night sky shook from its force.

"THE SEVENTH WORLD LOST THE NETHER PROPHET AND THE THIRD WORLD KING LOST. SOULS HAVE SUCCULBED TO GREED. THE PROMISED ONE SHALL COME ON A FAITHFULL DAY. HE SHALL BREAK THEM AND UNITE THEM."

"Is that person me?" the adventurer asked but the entity, did not answer, it lifted him up with its massive hand and like flower petals, it dissipated under the wave of the entity's hands.

All the while, Sen was scared shitless, not because of the video but because he heard the voice straight in his head. He was so scared he stood there frozen. After a couple minutes the entity stopped talking and Sen blamed it on the strong whisky he drank in mourning for the last realm.

But just as the video ended a game notification appeared on his computer.

[Continue?]

[YES] [NO]

He had assumed that there was another video to be watched so he clicked on yes. The next second however, he appeared in this forest. No foreplay, no preparation, no nothing.

Nada, Zilch, Nothing!

.

.

After a few minutes of examining his body, he discovered why this new body felt familiar. It was because that was his avatar in the Last Realm. A one of a kind Scarier.

"Sigh"

After the panic settled in and Sen finally calmed down. He inferred from his current situation that he was in a new world completely different from the world of the Last Realm. The entity that he saw in the video was the one who sent him here. He tried hard to remember the content of what it said to the adventurer about what prophet and the seventh world.

The other thing which he quite liked was the fact that he did not come to this strange new world unarmed, he did not come as his weak muscle-less self, but instead as the avatar from the Last Realm, which he nurtured for years and knows front and back.

"Never thought I would actually get to be him" Sen muttered slowly before remembering something

"Ah, where is my statistics panel?"

Like every other RPG, the Last Realm also had an item box, a system panel where stats are shown, and other functions. Sen wondered how they would be interpreted into this new world.

"Stats window" he shouted, but nothing happened.

"Hmm…panel, open?"

..

Sen tried about five different callings but there was no status window.

Before crossing, Sen was level 200, the highest level allowed within the Last Realm. He did not know whether to judge this his power by this world standards or not. If that was possible then it would simply mean that he now was an undefeatable monster standing at the highest level of power.

However, from what he gathered from the entity he saw in the next chapter of the game; in this world, there are so many dangers that he cannot face due to his weakness, meaning that his level may have been the strongest back in the Last Realm, but now he is simply slightly stronger than the normal person.

Since that is settled, Sen remembered something very important: his items!

As in any other game, there has to be an item bag. In LR, a player gets item boxes whose capacity depends on their strength stat. Sen, however, is a special case; when he completed a certain event, he acquired the void skill, which can be used to create a personal dead space – used to store inanimate objects. And the proof that this space exists is pleasantly apparent to him.

Looking at the tattoo coiled around his finger, Sen did the most cliché thing and willed his consciousness into the space symbol. To his delight, all of his items were there, his equipment, potions, and resources. Everything that the spent years to collect was right there floating in that dark space.

The rush of the adrenaline caused by the crossing over died down gradually as Sen examined his body. Rational thoughts crept in and all of a sudden, he found himself crying.

His family, and home… those are things he will never see again. Even though he didn't have any friends nor a close relationship with his parents for that matter, he still felt empty.

His parents, they practically never participated in his life. All decisions, he had to make himself, which is why he turned out to be a 26 years old jobless rich third generation who squandered away his parents' money on video games and useless figurines. But that didn't matter to them as they had his older sister, and she was very much capable of taking on the family company. She was the golden child while he was the failure.

All this psychological pressure caused him to become an introvert person who never got along with anyone.

The only person he would really miss was his younger brother. As much a failure he was, his younger brother Pram always looked up to him and would actively seek him out to play since he was young. And that didn't change even when they were both adults and Pram had his own family, and even kid. Pram would seek his advice and talk to him about all sorts of stuff.

Sen's heart ached when he thought about his twenty-four years old brother back home and the cute little nephew who he will never hear calling him uncle beardy again.

At least his brother has a family and won't be left alone to suffer the mental torture of his parents.

Drinking away his sorrows with the bottle of fine wine that dropped from a monster he once killed, Sen cried himself to sleep under the shade of the tree and not caring about the unfamiliar territory he was in.

Sen sobered up a couple of hours later and adjusted his mindset. Now that he was in this new place, he would embark on whatever adventure comes his way.

But for now, he decided to do a practical test of his skills and to study more about his new body.

Just then, a two meters tall black boar appeared in his view, and the two locked eyes together.

For some reason, Sen was not frightened. He wasn't even fazed for that matter. Instead of thinking of himself becoming prey for the beast, he was thinking about how delicious the beast would be.

Of course, Sen wasn't conscious of it yet, but he was no longer a normal human.
