"She is strong, I'll give her this much!"
"She may be strong Amon, but she still held back... Why? If only she used her power without holding back, then she wouldn't be in such a bad state, right?"
"Or it might of have caused her more harm."
"No, Amon, Mammon is right."
"Kephu, what have you found out?"
"You won't like it Lucifer!"
I could tell that my friends were ready to stop me if I would get out of control since they already acknowledged what Rosemary is to me. If something is to happen to her, then Hell won't be able to stand due to my anger.
Abigor, Toth and Kephu are looking at me with frustrated and tired expressions. Something is definitely wrong since they aren't able to keep the cool act.
"Look Luce, maybe you should take a seat and listen to what they have to say without being on the verge of destroying the palaces with us within it."
"Amon is right Lucifer! Take a seat and calm down, only then will we talk, when you're calm!"
I took a seat as they said and started to regulate my breathing so that I would calm down. Once calmed down I told them to go on. I could see that Abigor was still hesitating, but he started talking.
"As we all know, the soul threads are what keeps the soul trapped and tied to the body, and once that person dies, then the threads just snap letting the soul go. And not only if one does, but also if someone cuts them. But if one is to have the soul threads so badly damaged but still go on, it may bring only suffering in the best scenarios. As far as we managed to find documents on it, the last person to be in such a state died in a very painful death and not even painkillers worked. Nor was anyone able to kill that person since he just returned to normal."
"But what can be done to make the return to their once colorful state instead of the white, almost translucent color?"
"That's the problem... We haven't found anything because no one was able to do it."
Damn it! There has to be a way! I won't let her die, but I can't let her suffer either... What can be done?
"Now that I think about it, where is Kailas?"
"He is returning from Earth. He is angry enough to actually resist quite a while in a match with you Lucifer, if only you were to calm down."
"Have him and his friends keep watch on the three troublemakers, especially on Rosemary!"
"He won't be happy to have to watch over an "angel"... You'll be the one telling him this!"
"Fine..."
"Everything will be ok Lucifer! You'll see, she's strong enough to make it out of whatever this is!"
"I know, but I'm worried because I don't know how to tell her the truth... She might never want to see me ever again since I practically abandoned her!"
"She will get mad, after all, we have all been hiding the truth from her, and never told her about her mother since it's a taboo subject in Heaven. But she'll hate you more if you won't tell her and if you'll keep more things from her. She is no child that needs to be protected 24/7 Lucifer. She is your daughter and she needs answers. Answers that only you are capable of giving."
"Raphael! When did you get here?"
"Not long ago, but I've been here for long enough to know that her condition has worsened."
"You knew?"
"From the very beginning, but I was sworn to secrecy."
"I see. Thank you, Raphael! Thank you for everything you've done, and you've doing!"
"You know very well that there is no need for thanks. I always considered Annemary my sister and Rosemary my niece. I never cared if we're related by blood or not."
"I must insist old friend. For you have always been there for me, and yet, I am not so reliable as you are!"
"It's alright Luce, no need to worry."
"But since when did she start having this problem. She told me her version, but I want to hear yours as well."
"Ever since that cursed day. Ever since "her" death she started to be this way. At some point I thought that she would be okay after the soul threads turned white a lite in the middle and there were no signs of the whiteness spreading. But little did I know that after the day she came back from the battlefield, after that challenge of proving herself before The Circles, that I would almost lose her because of it. I almost declared her death Lucifer! Death! Had it not been for her barely murmuring "I did it! I proved it to them mom. I proved everyone that I am strong enough. I finally did it!". After that I tried my best even using my vital energy, and it all paid well in the end. She was in a coma for a while, but she recovered after a good rest."
ROSEMARY POV
I'm thirsty.
That's the first thing that came to mind, the second being, "Why is my pillow so warm, hard and why is it moving?".
Wait, moving? I opened my eyes to be greeted with the sight of Leviathan sleeping.
I could feel one of his hands under my head and one on my waist on top of the covers so that I won't move around so much and reopen my wounds.
I carefully slipped from between his hands and from the bed and headed for the door to ask one of the guards for water when I was suddenly caught by a pair of strong arms.
"And where do you think you're going?"
"To get water?"
"Why didn't you wake me up?"
"Because you look so tired, and it seemed that you were sleeping quite soundly."
"I fall asleep fast, but I'm a light sleeper. Plus, there is water on the nightstand."
He was right, now that I look closely there is a glass of water.
"Drink the water and let's get back to sleep.
"Okay!"
I drank the water and headed straight under the covers and in his protecting hug letting myself slip back into the never ending darkness once again.
