Heavy and deep breathing, as a result of overwhelming response coming from one's amygdala, the almond-shaped set of nuclei in the temporal lobe of one's brain was the amenable felon that took the full responsibility over this emotional salience, extracting the biological extraction of anxiety-related cold fluids on one's dirty skin out of dust that coming from the waste of ruined ground and demolished structures. Triggered by the amount of stress one's body and brain must savor, eliminating the fight option in the fight or flight response because one's physiological reaction had reached the peak points of awareness that one as the human species was powerless before the inconceivable threat, for the reason was, too, incomprehensible.
Because of the existence of such a stately thick wall, lowering their expectation of danger that may stalking from beyond that... as settling within it, was appraised safe - a healthy welfare... or so they foretold. And yet... such a foretelling couldn't be more any wrong.
Despite the arrival of a Half-elf, a member of the renowned Ancient Heroes... a sorceress and a very rare user of high-level Runecraft as she was overflowed by so much talent that came from her half-inheritance and long-gone descendant. Bearing of that such a burden in a form magical insight on her shoulder covered in the silver hair which parted away amongst the air, amidst the rest of havoc of which she struggled to conquer along with the recent appearance of the second one... a muscular figure who declared his too-early triumph - merely relying on his brute force - by vanquished the one of many roots that caused these so much significant catastrophes on the fragile hearts who were unable to escape no more but only to cluster together at the far corner of the city, watching the two heroes restlessly from afar while looking after each other back.
Their lives were probably less at stake prior the arrival of those two heroes, yet this didn't mean their disquietude had been diminished in any less possible. The reason wasn't on those two monstrous reptiles, but more on those two heroes themselves - the root of all of today's disaster... as their inner voices told them.
Despite the devotion were shown by the two heroes, combining their own unique capability to such an extent that they reached a success point of sealing one of the monstrous reptiles into an old scroll... the exact same scroll from which those giant crawling creatures came,
Hence the restless feeling,
Hence the meddling heroes with the affairs, trying to rectify everything of the omission by walking the exact same effort containing the creature in the same vessel - thin and fragile-looking vessel,
Hence the likelihood of finding the mediation was at its minimum,
Regardless of the end result that about to appear well enough after the Half-elf was capable of re-contained one of the reptile without so much effort. As for now... only two left of which the bulky figure was about to fight.
"Iecie, think I need a hand in here."
Heavy pounding sound at every step that bulky figure was taken by on a rough plain of ruined slabs of concrete that once a functioned road before the invasion of the unexpectable... leaving only puzzle-like pieces of abstract debris as a hindrance the bulky figure had to deal with. Such a trivial hindrance, surely wouldn't cause so much trouble for the sole heavy-trooper - very unlikely - however it was came from what was waiting for him at the end of ruined path... that what brought about his need of aids from his partner, situated beyond the runic barrier.
"Do not worry. I have it under control."
A silver-haired Half-elf, Iecie, acknowledged her partner yelling for a hand, while reaching out one of her slender arm, opening and closing her palm in a rapid sequence then threw it upward... murmuring softly the incantation - a command which the runic barrier must carried afterwards.
"Eof het erocs."
The targets had been locked, it was the two gigantic reptiles that on a verge of vengeance for their other kin that had been sealed into that scroll. Since the creatures had nowhere to break free from this inevitable battle and too powerless to break the runic barrier, the only way out to freedom was the way from where that bulky figure came, who boldly approaching and dashing alone towards two gigantic beings that were hard to kill.
Therefore the betting was on, trying their luck against the next storm. However, the chance of success for the antagonist side always had been zero. Zero brains for just surrender. Despite knowing what that bulky man capable of, their primordial instinct told them to overcome that bulky man with the sheer size of their physical body and number - two on one.
Therefore the two reptilian creatures had been engaging the initial attack by also charging toward that bulky man in terrifying speed while letting out frightening sound... and one of them was about to mangle his frigid, rigid armor and mutilate everything left behind that armor with its large curved-blade claws.
Yet never realize it was never two on one clash.
It was a fair fray,
Dashing with steady mind and ready heart, the bulky man was calmly shrinking the distance between him and those two-stories height reptiles, 'til leaving only such a tiny gap for both sides to breathe as it eventually became smaller and tighter... and the ridged stygian claws were right above the exposed skull of that bulky man. The only left thing to do... was just to send it downward, ripping his face apart in the most vicious way possible - turning the curved claws and the ruined ground into many layers of red with his blood.
But when the color was appeared to be the different one. It was green as opposed to the shade of crimson... that wasn't the color many expected from, yet many had hoped for.
Moments musicaux of jubilant depiction, the early sighting of reversing pendulum as the tendency became clear. The disappear of the crawling threats would soon reach its predestined state, for the heroic epitome had manifesting their potential to put an end to the reigning threats.
An indecipherable shriek and a baffling screech, yet comprehensible meaning that sourced from one of the reptilian creatures. A cry out of pain because of its scaly skin that covering one its four legs, had been dismembered by a clean cut that came from the tangible runic line, shaping itself into a ridged blade thrusting from the ground faster than a blink of one. Cutting and piercing through even the hardest skin and bones of the reptiles, thus preventing its sharp claws from cutting and piercing through the bulky man's face instead.
Drizzle of green substance, slowly padding the sleeveless armor of that bulky man, turning the exposed arms into a green gradation with his brown skin. The rest of that green substance gradually began to take a form of a puddle as the wounded reptile - out of shock after losing so much blood in such a brief second - slowly became dazed and eventually collapsed in a pool of its own green blood... barely able to continue despite it still struggled to maintain its consciousness.
"Well done, Iecie."
Exclaimed Lyell, the bulky-looking man, eagerly watching the wounded reptile was struggle even for breathing. As upon closer inspection, it apparently was too, nailed on the ground by another few of ridged tangible runic lines that forcefully impaled into its chest and it didn't rule out the possibility of those needle-sharp runic were also maimed its main respiratory organs - forcefully freeing the oxygen within it as the lungs began to collapse as well.
"Only one remain." Iecie, the Half-elf, quickly responded as her hands were still on a ready state, preparing for another spell to cast, "I leave that one to you, while I am preparing for the next move."
"For sure. Leave it to me!"
The hoarse, friendly voice of his was sounded so excited that the unsuppressed smile was able to be perceived... simply eager to finish this inconvenient day once and for all.
The remaining participants, both who were still on their prime conditions, dashing towards each others at greater paces than before.
The uninjured reptile, the survivor of the initial strike... despite still on the verge of shock after witnessing first-hand, one of its kin was effortlessly getting maimed merely by the background actor beyond that runic barrier... without even moving her legs one bit from her position while giving command to her rune spell, she already proven to be a lethal foe for its kin. Hence sharpening its quick adaptability was an essential, navigating its crawling legs carefully through the ruined ground and anticipating for another runic-based ambush from below.
As a result of its adaptability, instead blatantly dashing and crawling towards that bulky man, the reptilian creature showed its magical capability by leaping from such a great distance, lifting all of its heavy body up into the air. Initiated to smash that bulky man, falling into a sharp dive posture by manipulating the gravity to its favor and the sheer amount of its body weight to produce more kinetic energy thus more force being delivered into its curved claws in preparation for cutting him in half - thought he didn't have any weapon to defend himself but a bare hand.
However, adaptability wasn't the creature's only thing it expert at... because the ability to adjust oneself with a sudden change, quickly and effectively without disrupting a process of analyzing, was too, one of many areas of his expertise... even more superior in fact, since years of experiences were backing up his combat advantages. Situation awareness and an eye for the terrain were another his areas of expertise.
Quickly grabbing for the wasted leg pieces of the wounded creature, simply unwilling it to be wasted by not bringing at least for his own good. Its rigid claws seemingly still maintained its sharp and ridged features, qualified for a standard weapon that capable of harming its target even when the said target was three times of its size, providing the wielder was strong enough to deliver a deadly blow on the target's thick skull. Hence becoming his reason to snatch such a weapon lying silently in the pool of green blood.
Yet it wasn't a right time to deliver a lethal blow onto the thick skull of the creature, for it was essential to wait patiently for a right momentum... holding back for a moment and letting the creature finished with its initial attack before striking back.
As for now, at a very brief moment before the creature falling from above, the bulky man used this gap to grab the cut leg piece along with its undamaged claws, then swiftly threw it high towards the sky, a second before that creature landed its first attack of which he easily dodged by leaping backward.
The ground was then shaking greatly as the reptilian creature had landed its body entirely. Those standing beyond the runic barrier could feel the shaking impact beneath their feet, despite the runic barrier didn't seem to budge one bit... yet it was that bulky man who felt the severe version of it, despite having managed to avoid the initial attack, he now had to regain balance on his feet to proceed his further plan... and quickly, because that creature had yet to give up and seemingly up to a continuation.
That was when a large formation of blue pentagon circle appeared high in the sky. Composed of many enigmatic syllabary that rotated to the axis, forming itself of many layers of rings which each layers became smaller in diameter as one became closer to the glowing focus of a magic circle.
Followed by a mild shout from the Half-elf standing behind her runic barrier, "Okay. It is ready... If you could bring the lizard closer to the circle... somehow."
The bulky man obviously heard his partner's call, looking up for a brief moment to confirm it and verify the location of the said circle in order to quantify his further move, for he must somehow delivered that two-stories height reptile to that magic circle situated high in the sky - believing in the plan of his partner.
"Bring the lizard closer to the circle, eh? Alright. Understood."
A screech of war cry could also be heard, coming in brisk manner of speed from the two pairs of squamous legs that carried tons of body mass of an outraged reptile on them. Incomprehensible shriek was came from its opened jaws, showing its intimidating rows of large blade-like teeth... seemingly wanted to end all of this once and for all. Unfortunately for that reptile, its pure rage would only bring the defeat of itself, for this emotion weaken its sense for surrounding... focused only to its foe before its parietal eyes, and was unaware of something - coming from above - that about to hit its skull.
That was a body piece of leg that was once owned by its own kin after being cut by the Half-elf and eventually being thrown upward by that bulky man who had been waiting for this exact moment - one momentum for him to initiate his turn.
The collision matched his anticipation. That piece of squamous leg was bounced over the reptile's diapsid skull as instead of impaling it with the curved, ridged claws, yet such a hard impact was enough to make the reptile shaky and unsteady as the gap of vulnerability opened widely. Hence began to seize for that chance that bulky man was then... swiftly reached for that leg piece and yet used it once more for an improvised weapon.
Swinging that weapon he was, forcefully targeted the creature's left parietal eye, prying it out from the eye socket of its diapsid skull using the ridged, most sharpest part of the claws and eventually bursting its eye out like a fragile balloon in the process - a giant balloon which contained clear viscous liquid.
An ear-splitting squeal was also burst out, squealing anyone's ears who was able to hear that creature seemingly begging a mercy for its life. However, this had yet over, as that bulky man kept pulling his weapon despite having his target's eyes exploded into a revolting fluid that blended with its green blood on the ruined ground, he didn't exhibit any sign to stop before his weapon was capable of cracking and stabbing the creature's bones... leaving alone the jabbed weapon intact in its skull in the end. Therefore he could reach for his main prey afterwards, after the creature falling half-incapacitated, dashing swiftly, for it was the lizard's tail.
The arms muscles started to contract, enlarged the biceps as the two arms were tightly grasping the tail... eventually lifting the gigantic body of the creature - tons of weight - and taking it for a few rotates before throwing it, with all of his might, towards the sky where a large pentagon circle awaits.
"Redunht ruoy dnal het ngier..."
The incantation had been spelled... voiced softly through the thin crimson lips and the agile tongue as the silver-haired Half-elf had watched the monstrous reptile reaching for the circle. Raising both of her slender arms, as the command had been given through the sparkling sigil for the thunder was about to be sparked.
"Tsud otni ti nrut."
