Unknown P.O.V
I signed and mentally face palmed. Could these idiots get one thing right?
"You shot the wrong girl! How fucking hard is it to shoot the right fucking person!!! What's with the warning shot all you had to do was snipe her. You fucked it up you arrogant son of a bitch!" I yelled at him.
I knew I shouldn't have hired him. Well I guess what they say is true. If you want something done the right way, you need to do it yourself.
I grabbed my gun. I have hunting to do.
Time to go kill this bitch.

Viktoriya's P.O.V
I kept pacing back and forth and I could tell that Alessio was starting to get annoyed.
"Vikky please sit down you're pissing me off with all that pacing" He said to me calmly.
"How can you be so calm Alessio? She just got SHOT!" I tried to calm down and it was clearly not working. I had just met her. She's gonna hate me for inviting her to this party.
I'll never have friends again. Ever.
Alessio grabbed my shoulders and forced me into a seat telling me to stay with Melanie while he made some calls. Whatever that means.
He's been acting weird all night. Ever since Melanie was shot. I don't know if this is some kind of reverse shock or something but I've never seen him so calm.
Melanie was starting to wake up.
"Hey, hey easy there." I said trying to help her get comfortable. Well as comfortable as you can with a gunshot wound in your side.
"I was shot..." She looked at me.
"Holy shit... I GOT SHOT! I need to call my mom!" She started freaking out and I tried to calm her down as best I could.
"Hey its okay its okay. The hospital already called your mom the second you got in here." I tried to keep my voice steady. I told her what she wanted to hear...
What she doesn't want to or need to hear is that her mother isn't coming. Her own mother gave her over to two strangers she just met...
I don't want to even ask what kind of childhood Melanie had cause if you're own mother doesn't rush to your aid when you've been shot, its kind of obvious it wasn't a good one.
"You don't need to look so sad. I know she isn't coming. She never has and she never will." Melanie looked away from me for a moment, trying to compose herself I guess. There really is a lot more to her than what meets the eye.
"She doesn't love me. I keep telling myself maybe one day she will act like a mother should. Every time I got sent to the nurse or a hospital she never came. Not even when I called out to her for hours. Some mother she is. I've been shot and she's probably on some vacation with her boy toy of the month." Melanie said crying angrily. I didn't say anything. What could I say? My relationship with my parents were rocky but nothing like this.
"I'm sorry... I don't mean to talk about my life trauma with my roommate who I just met but I'm also laying in bed with a gunshot wound so... you can't get rid of me now. Heh" Melanie tried to make light of the situation and all I could do was admire her for trying to be so strong.
"Well I wasn't going to. Alessio went to go make some calls. He said he'd be back soon. If you hate me that would be understandable I mean we meet, I invite you to a party, and then you get shot so like...yeah...sorry" I said nervously.
"It wasn't your fault. At least I would hope it wasn't your fault" She said giving me a small smile.
Alessio walked back in with a new doctor.
"This will be your doctor. She's the best of the best and will take good care of you. All your hospital bills and expenses are paid for so don't worry about anything okay? We will take care of you. Won't we Vikky?" He said looking at me.
"Uh, yeah. Anything you need I'm here okay?" I said to Melanie smiling.
"You...paid all my bills? What are you rich or something?" She said to Alessio wide-eyed.
"Well yes, as a matter of fact, I am. Don't worry too much about it."
Alessio left the room and I followed, giving the doctor time to talk to Melanie alone.
Something was off about him but I couldn't place it. It was nice of him to be taking care of Melanie so well, considering we all just met. I felt bad.
"That was nice of you," I said hoping to get why he was acting so weird out.
"She has no one else to do for her Vikky. Her own mother wouldn't even bother to show up and from what I gather she's about two or three blocks from here right now. " He said looking really mad.
How does he even know where her mother is?
I decided to just drop it and be grateful my best friend is so great to others. I couldn't imagine being a college student with not much money, a family who doesn't support me, and a hospital bill for being shot. That would be way too much stress.
I went to get some coffee for Alessio and I. It would seem we'd both be here for a little while.

Alessio's P.O.V
I watched Vikky walk away and she looked like she was deep in thought. I fucked up when I told her I knew where Melanie's mother was and I'm surprised she didn't ask about it since she always has so many questions.
I needed to be careful before I said something extremely dangerous around Vikky. Or Melanie now. Her being shot wasn't some sort of chance. I worked hard to be near Vikky cause I knew the moment she left her hometown she wouldn't be safe. Hell she wasn't safe there either but at least she had her family and I.
Melanie's safety is now at risk too since she's been seen with us and now I have to protect both of them. I don't want some random girl dying on my hands when I had the chance to protect her. Something about Melanie seems familiar though. I feel like I'm doing a hell of a lot for a person I just met.
The phone rings, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Hello?" I said impatiently. I had other things to worry about and I had a feeling this certain call was not about to improve my mood.
"Boss, I was calling to give you more information on the shooting. I don't think your friend was the target. At least not the one who got shot. We know the connection to Viktoriya and her family but does she? Don't you think this is a little...dangerous. You know where you are don't you?" Fred rambled on and on. Sometimes I think he forgets he still works for me. We may be close but I don't need him lecturing me.
"Alfred. I know. I already figured that out myself I don't need you to state the obvious. The thing I need to know is why she's being targeted." I said getting frustrated.
I saw Vikky coming back with two cups of coffee and I was so thankful because I definitely need it.
Fred was telling me something about the location of local mafia's and drug dealers and headquarters but I zoned out.
"Yeah yeah okay Fred I gotta go." I hung up before he could finish his sentence.
I didn't want Vikky to catch the end of that conversation. I smiled at her and thanked her for the coffee while we sat in silence for a little bit. I just wanted to make sure everything was fully settled with Melanie before I left and brought Vikky back some stuff.
I knew she'd want to stay with her even though they just met. That's the kind of person she is. That's why I love her.
No that's why I'm in love with her. But she can never know that. Love ruins friendships. I love her too much to ruin what we have.
The doctor came out and said that everything would heal good and she needed to stay in the hospital for a few days before she could go home.
Vikky and I said our goodbyes briefly telling her we'd be back later and then we left.
I hoped nothing else would go wrong.
Of course I was wrong.
