(CLOE'S POV)
I peek on my cellphone and check the time. As expected, five AM is what I've had set. I deliberately put it earlier for a better chance. I need to be responsible now since I'm alone, and I still need to prepare myself some breakfast and need to clean the house a bit before I leave the house. That's what it should be since that's what my mom used to do before.
So I stand up and stretch a little before I open the door, yawning as I'm about to go down the stairs. From yawning to agape, my mouth has not given a chance to close when I discern that every room downstairs light is on. 'But I remembered turning them off last night. But why?'
Goosebumps starting to cover my entire skin as I hear some light clanging sound from the kitchen, thinking that somebody forcefully got inside, a trespasser. I walk down the stairs slowly, avoiding the stairs to creak. My eyes swing next to the flower vase on the end table not far from the stairs.
