Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Heir

"SIR." I stopped from reading and looked at my butler who is standing before me.

"What is it?" I asked him, very irritated.

"Sir Richard is asking for your presence for lunch in his house." Lawrence replied.

"What the hell he wants from me?" I asked and threw my book to the couch. I stand up and walk toward my room to prepare for my visitacion.

I just arrived from my two years military service last night. But instead of taking some rest to relax myself from the battlefield, I am now driving my way back to the house where I used to live.

My father, Richard Cross doesn't have any sense of comradeship. While my mother, Sandra Saavedra is his complete opposite. What a perfect couple, isn't it? But I am not that close to them like other sons and daughters do, I am a Abuelo's boy. Until now.

I drive my black sports car toward the village where my parent's house is. This car is a gift from my Abuelo before he was confined to his bed for three years. It may be old but this is my treasure, the treasure I want to keep for a lifetime.

I am wearing my military uniform as a sign of my responsibility in the country. I am actually planning for returning to military office after I take a rest for two to three years for me to be able to complete my five years service.

I came back from my reverie when I heared my phone ring. My eyebrows arched when I saw the Caller ID. I pressed answer button and the loud speaker for me to drive safely. "Yvonne." I called her name but she just shrieked from the other line.

'So childish.' I thought and rolled my eyes.

I waited for her to stop shrieking like a pig but it doesn't help at all. So that I warned her to stop shrieking or else I will end the call. "Are you done already? If not, I will end this call brcause I am busy." I warned her that made her stop.

"Why are you so cold? We didn't see each other for two years, that's why I am excited to talk to you, baby." She growled that I know, she is now pouting like a duck.

"Sorry, my father summoned me. I am dead tired and didn't have the chance to rest." I apologized.

"Oh. Let's talk some time baby. I love you and I realy missed you."

I'm about to answer her but I just found myself not reacting at all before I mumbled the words she wants to hear. "I love you." Then, I ended the call immediately and focused myself from driving.

Yvonne Velasquez is my girlfriend for more than three years. She is beautiful and sweet at firts, but she turned childish after I was appointed for military service by my Abuelo. And until now, she didn't change from being an imature womanthat makes me doubt my feelings toward her and to our relationship.

I stopped infront of my parent's house. I frowned as I saw a car parked improperly ingrom of my parent's house."Tsk, what the heck is this? How boneheaded this car's driver is?" I growled because of too much irritation.

First, my father summonedme in his house for an unknown reason without checking or letting me to rest for days. And now, there is a boneheaded driver parked his car improperly that blocks the driveway.

'What did I do to experience such problems like this?'

I walked out from my car and take a closer look to the car that is blocking me.

I can say that whoever is this car's owner, he have a good taste. It is a gray upgraded sports car of mine.

I knocked on it's window but no one is answering. I sighed and shake my head, "It's helpless." I mumbled and walk toward my car to look for another space when my father came out from the house, he rushed toward me with this mixed emotions written on his slightly wrinkled face.

"Son, what are you doing here?" He asked.

"Who the heck parked a car on the driveway?" I asked with too much irritation in my voice.

"Ahmm. Leave it alone son. Its driver wil come out soon. We need to talk." He said and tried to pull me into the house but I pulled my hand too for him to loosen his grip.

"Wait! My car is blocking the way. Don't you think that this car's driver will be able to come out if I am blocking him?"

My father stopped and look at me behind his shoulder. It seems like he just realized what's my point. I didn't waited for his response, I reembarks in my car an drive it in reverse until I reach the open space. I started to drive into the village to look for available space where I can park my car.

After five minutes, I finally found a parking space nearby. I arisefrom the car and walk back to my parent's house. But I saw no car anymore so I return to the parking space where I left my car and drove back to my parent's house.

And as I enter the house, my mother almost jumped just to welcome me with her warm hug. I smiled and even though I am still tired from my military service for two years, I can say that there's no place like home.

"I missed you, my son." My mother cried. I hugged her tight and caress her back.

"Shh. Don't cry mother. Please don't cry."

"You Richard! I know you also missed my son but he just came from the field, but you still bothered him to come here?" She hissed to my father who is now scratching his head because my mother started to scold him like a little boy who committed a sin.

"Honey, why don't you just thank me because I brought him here for you?"

I frowned and said, "You called me here for that? Why didn't you just call me after a week? I didn't have any chance to rest.", I growled because of too much frustration, again.

"It's not just like this, son. It's all about your Abuelo." He said that caught my attention.

"What is it that we need to talk about Abuelo?" I almost panicked because I know how weak my Abuelo's body is.

"Don't think too much, son. He is fine." He said then I sighed.

I thought, something had have happened to my Abuelo, I am not ready for it. My father is about t speak again when my mother slapped his forehead. My father frowned and look at my mother sharply. But my mother is a complete dominant, she looked at him with her deadly glare that made his mouth shut.

"Do you realize where are we now? We are in thehallway for Pete's sake! Come on and let us talk in the library, you two are in a full show."

My father sighed and looked at me. But I just smirked at him before I followed my other who is now walking before us.

But before anything else, I am Clovis Falcon Cross. Twenty-eight years old and the first in the line for the Cross Enterprise.
