Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Xuan continent, The kingdom of swords, The royal palace. The king is waiting outside a door waiting in silence with a stiff face. Jiang Huang is waiting for his second child to be born, the first prince, born from a concubine, is a talented son at the age of eleven who has inherited his father's profound spirit named the Di sword, which is an earth element sword spirit. Unfortunately, the queen, mother of his second child, was poisoned a month ago and before she was cured, the poison had already damaged the fetus which makes the status of the child's health uncertain. A couple of seconds later he hears the wail of a baby coming outside the door and a minute later a court physician steps out of the room and informs his majesty that his son has a strong and healthy body fit for cultivation but the prince's eyes are blind.

The king roars and orders for the second time to find the poisoner and torture him to death. An hour later, he calms down and walks into the room to meet his child. He sees the queen with a calm and sleeping baby in her arms. She is looking at the child with a doting look while singing a song.

He stares at the scene with a troubled look before saying: "Ming'er, I am sorry I couldn't protect our child, his name will be Jiang Mang to remind me of my mistake."

She looks at him and smiles before saying: "Huang, I don't blame you for the poison or Mang's condition just promise me that you will cherish and love him as his father."

The king looked her in the eyes before turning around with a burning gaze filled with resolve to never let his family be hurt again before entering closed-door cultivation. A month later he broke through early saint to mid saint stage and visited the queen again. They talked about Jiang Mang's future and his current condition. After that night's conversation, the palace started inviting healers from all over the continent trying to cure the blind prince. Healers and physicians came and went all unsuccessful for a full two years until the king gave up after the continent's leading physician declared the boy's condition uncurable.

After these two years, while Jiang Mang remained blind, he had already learned how to speak fluently while being able to recognize most objects through touch. He also learned how to walk albeit with the help of his servants directing the correct direction. He also gained a baby sister born from the queen and a younger brother born from a concubine that year.

At the age of three, he started learning about the Xuan continent and other relevant information through listening to stories from the servants or asking them to read books out loud. Jiang Mang was a genius at studying because he could remember anything he was told though he only heard it once. He learned through these stories that only the strong had the right to survive in this dog eat dog world.

During a summer day came his father the king to visit Jiang Mang while he was listening to a story about the Chu empire. The servant stopped telling the story and greeted the king, Jiang Mang then also greeted his father. Jiang Huang looked into his son's clear eyes and sighed before saying: " Son, tomorrow will be your eldest brother's birthday and you will be required to attend. Besides that, I also came to see you and ask how you are doing."

Jiang Mang answered: " Royal father, I will surely attend eldest brother's birthday banquet and I have been well listening to jianghu stories and strolling through the gardens of the palace." He paused before continuing: "Father, I would like to learn how to protect myself despite being blind so that I can cultivate in the future and proof that I am not a useless prince."

Jiang Huang's eyes opened wide at his three-year-old son's words before sighing. He responded after some thought: " Mang'er, the cultivation world is filled with danger and you being blind makes it almost impossible to survive in that world. I suggest that you lead an ordinary life here in the palace and capital city under my protection while you can cultivate in peace without becoming a fighter."

Jiang Mang answered: "Royal father, I don't want to be a useless blind prince who can only rely on others while I may not enter the outside world, you can at least assign me a tutor to learn self-defense and train my body so that I am not entirely helpless and can live by myself even if I am blind. While I can not see, I can hear and feel which is the reason that I want to learn how to use hidden weapons which is the only plausible option for me besides hand-to-hand combat."

Jiang Huang was stunned once again before nodding with a smile and saying: " Mang'er, you truly are my Huang's son. I will agree to your request and find you an appropriate tutor to train your body, learn self-defense and hidden weapon mastery but you will have to persevere through the training and I will not allow you to quit before the age of ten when your profound spirit will manifest during the awakening ceremony."
