Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The next day Jiang Mang got ready to attend the banquet of his eldest brother. He left his room with his servants and walked towards the banquet hall, he started hearing chattering and noise coming from multiple sources. He became disoriënted and asked help from his servants to bring him towards his eldest brother to congratulate him. When he arrived before his brother, he heard people whispering about the blind prince around him which made him upset. He controlled his emotions before his eldest brother, Jiang Feng spoke to him: "Little brother Mang are you here to congratulate me?"

He answered: "Eldest brother, yes I am here to wish you a well birthday." Jiang Feng smiled at him and spoke with a happy but almost forced tone in his hearing: "Little brother Mang, thank you but you shouldn't force yourself to walk around. I know it is hard on you to be here with your condition so please take care of yourself."

Jiang Mang nodded before leaving and when he had turned around and walked a few steps he heard his eldest brother voice saying: " Why did that blind disgrace show up here, he will just be a useless fool in the family and amount to nothing why doesn't he just kill himself and rid my family of trouble. Huff!!"

He almost stopped but he kept walking until he found a seat in a corner where he started crying. The servants were startled before trying to console him while they had no idea of what his eldest brother had said to the guests. Jiang Mang recouped himself after a couple of minutes when he suddenly heard a young girl's voice offering him a drink. He guessed that she was around six years old, three years older than him, from her voice before accepting the drink. Jiang Mang thanked and asked her: "Thank you, could you stay for a bit? I could use some company."

She agreed and sat down before she started introducing herself: "I am Song Meiling, the daughter of duke Song, I am five years old but will become six in two months. Who are you and why are you here in this corner."

Jiang Mang replied: "I am Jiang Mang, the second prince, and I was trying to avoid the noise because it disturbs my hearing and sense of direction because I can't see and thus can only rely on my hearing. It is nice meeting you big sister song."

The two young friends stayed the rest of the evening in the quiet corner talking about all kinds of things in the presence of Jiang Mang's servants until the banquet ended. They agreed to meet again before parting. Jiang Mang met his mother on the way back where she asked: "Mang'er where were you at the banquet I never saw you?"

He answered: "Mother, I was in a hidden corner because of the noise and chattering of the guests. I made a friend by the name Song Meiling and talked to her for the whole banquet." His mother smiled before saying some other words and asking him to introduce this little friend of his.

After making some promises he returned to his room before remembering his brother's words about him which made him feel cold. He decided to remain distanced from his eldest brother before falling asleep.

The next morning he woke up at sunrise. He signaled the servants to help him get changed. He returned to his daily routine of strolling around and listening to jianghu stories. While Jiang Mang returned to his daily routine, the palace came alive because the king was looking for a royal tutor for his second son. His majesty invited all the well known hidden weapon masters under his service and asked their opinions about his second son. His subordinates were uninterested in becoming a blind child's tutor.

Jiang Huang questioned every subordinate separately for the entire day before dismissing everyone in a fit of rage. He could sympathize with them but to hear his son called useless time and time again made him explode. He returned to his chambers deep in thought about his promise to his son, before sighing and going to sleep.

The next day, he disguised himself and went into the capital city. He went towards an unnoticed bar in the middle of a bustling street and sat down at a table while ordering a glass of wine. He thought back to his younger days when he went into the jianghu fighting against bandits, making friends along the way before returning to the palace, and inheriting the throne. During his travels, he made an acquaintance with a master of hidden weapons by saving his life. This person went by the name Invisible Leaf and promised that he owned Jiang Huang a favor which he never used until this day.

At this moment, an ordinary-looking man took a seat in front of him and sat there in silence sipping on a cup of wine. Jiang Huang looked at the men and said: " I need to use that favor, I hope that you could train my second son in the art of hidden weapons so that he can protect himself. This is the only request he has made of me until now and I don't want to disappoint him."

The man in front of Jiang Huang was the most notorious assassin in the Xuan Continent going by the name Invisible Leaf. He is currently a wandering cultivator, unaffiliated with any force, and only accepts requests he is interested in but he has always successfully assassinated his targets with the strongest being a peak saint stage. Invisible Leaf looked his former savior in the eyes before saying: "I will train your son until the age of ten but only if he doesn't give up on the training I put him through. The moment, he gives up will be the moment I leave."

A second later, Invisible Leaf was gone from his position at the table which startled Jiang Huang. Jiang Huang breathed then a sigh of relief before returning to the castle and hoping the best for his son.
