Chapter 34 - get over it

"Okay... Now repeat it back" Luca said.

"It was nice to meet you." Matteo said," Let us catch up again...soon"

"Great! You almost got it" He grinned," You finished the whole conversation!"

"I am now. Master of language yes?" Matteo asked with a broad smile.

"Almost going to be one anyway" he pointed out.

"How is your daughter?" Matteo asked.

"I don't know really" Luca sighed," I haven't spoken to her today. Maybe tomorrow"

"You should... not attach," Matteo said.

"What do you mean?" Luca asked.

"She... has no chance of survival," he said simply," Kore is very fast and kill without caring about who they're killing."

"Don't say that" Luca said sternly," She is a capable girl and can defend herself. This lesson is over" He stood up and walked away without a word.

Matteo felt a little bad that he would just walk away like that. But he knew he was right. There was no one that had escaped from Kore so far. He knew how she was. Once she latched on, she never let go. She was like a rabid dog that way. However, he was sure that Luca's daughter wouldn't be hurt any time soon. She would be hunt down, stalked, chased, and then killed. The faster that Luca would accept it, the better.

"Wait!" He called, Luca turned back and looked at him with a questioning look," I..." He blinked," your daughter... she has a gun?" he asked.

Luca nodded and Matteo seemed to be in thought," She has a chance. But she must always hide. Till Kore loses interest. "

"Hidden" Luca muttered as if to himself," very well" he muttered and walked out without another word.

Matteo fidgeted with his fingers finding the room rather empty and lonely all of a sudden. Luca reminded him of his big brother. He was also always wanting to teach Matteo something. He recalled the time they had spent drawing with each other. It had been a source of happiness for him, a distraction from the terrible life he had otherwise. Although he didn't like to remember it, he found himself wondering what life would have been like if Kore hadn't been there. Would he have even been alive? He was sure he would have been beaten to death. But he hated how his brother had to die as well. He remembered how she stood there, the crazed look in her eyes as she stabbed him over and over. He didn't see her stab him, but he heard the sound as his eyes were fixated on the lady.

Her blue eyes shining through her blood-splattered face. It wasn't a fond memory per se, but it was one he couldn't let go of. He imagined Luca's daughter. Scared, running away, and near death. He had a strange suspicion that she wouldn't end up dead if she played her cards right.
