"You're supposed to be dead, or was that a lie?" I folded my arms waiting for an answer
"Nah, you're right, I killed myself" Steven Wright informed me in all seriousness, he looked around then came to the desk, he looked around again, then whispered so as not to be heard by prying ears "you need to leave this place, right now" he looked around again as I shook my head "and I need to blow this place up"
"What?" I screamed he hushed me, and looked around again
"You have a really bad infestation, I need to get rid of it"
"An infestation of what?" I whisper shouted
"Vampires" he informed in a duh tone
"There's no such..."
"....such thing as vampires, I know, I also know you are either very thick, or very naive, I mean what are they offering you, huh? Life? Immortality? Coz they lie, whatever they're offering they will still kill you, take it from me I know what I'm dealing with, I am a vampire hunter after all" I gasped, he was the hunter, it made sense, vampire hunters had the ability to kill themselves if they were in danger, to come back at a later date of their choosing, pretty cool ability, if you ask me. I feigned amazement, I took the bottle of Damon's blood and poured some into a glass, I drank the whole glass, then saw him smiling
"I'm sorry, where are my manners" I took another glass and started pouring him some "I mean it's not everyday you find out that something you thought was a myth is actually real" I passed the glass to him he took a drink, to taste it, the spell not only made the blood look like water, it also made it taste like any fruit I chose, I had chosen strawberries, he drank the whole thing, I smiled inwardly I moved from around the desk.
"Tell me, are there any humans here? Any at all?" I asked him
"No, except you, and three people in the bar" he answered, okay including Eli there were three people back there, but how were we classed as humans
"How could you possibly know that?"
"Well humans have a heartbeat, vampires do not" he shrugged
"Ohhh" all the pieces fit into place now, I had the answer to my five thousand year old question, the vampire hunter hadn't killed me back then because, unlike other vampires, I had a heartbeat, "thank you" I said and with that I broke his neck, and with a thud the man fell down, Eli must of heard because seconds later he was coming with a glass of blood. I sat down right there next to his body and waited for him to wake up.
