Chapter 17 - Chapter 4B

"At fifty thousand years of age, I had a dream, it is time for me to die" mother witch announced, I gasped and held her hands across the table.

"You can't" my voice came as a whisper, I had so many questions, so much to talk about, I had just found my mother I wasn't ready to let her go.

"Oh my darling daughter, I have to, which means I must pass on my powers" she told me, being her daughter I would inherit them, "You must make sure that no one gets these powers, once news travels about my death witches who think they are entitled to them will come to claim them, but daughter you must promise you will not allow them to be taken" I promised with my heart that I would not let anyone take them, she was still holding my hands, she stood us both up and we left the office, Nathan greeted us, we greeted back.

"Nathan, my child, I shall need your help, and a promise from you" Nathan and I were both intrigued. "Later, Clarissa will fall into a deep sleep, she will sleep for atleast a week, but you must not wake her, you must promise me, my child, you shall not wake her" Nathan nodded and promised he wouldn't wake me, mother witch was happy, she then instructed me to look through the computer to see which rooms were free, she said that the sofa in my office was not comfortable enough, she also told me off saying that I owned such a big hotel I should have one room that would be my own room, I looked at her apologetically she had smiled then and had brushed me off, I looked through the computer to see what rooms were free, I remembered that the Salvatores had their own rooms here they only used them once a year they wouldn't be here for another six months so with an inward smile I took her to Damon's room. She was smiling too but I didn't know why.

Having a heightened sense of smell I could smell Damon's scent and it smelled amazing.

"Sit on the bed" mother witch instructed, I did, she sat down too and held out her hands for me to take, I did, she closed her eyes I closed mine too. I saw what I could only describe as a movie fast forwarding, the images went really fast. Soon everything went dark, I was falling, falling, falling, I landed softly on a bed of leaves, I was, it seemed, in a forest, I had never been here before and yet it looked familiar. After walking around I saw a door, right there in the middle of a forest I saw a green door, no wall, just a door with a frame, I walked around the door, the door was old, very old

I was drawn to it, so naturally I walked to it, I took hold of the white doorknob and took a deep breath, I twisted the doorknob, and opened it nothing but forest on the other side, my eyes furrowed in confusion but I stepped over the threshold, and the reel of movie began again fast forwarding,  I picked out certain images, like images of mother witch, James, my parents, not just parents I knew but parents I had forgotten.

Everything, once again, went dark.

I woke to see Natasha next to me, my head was sore, and my throat was dry as if reading my mind Natasha conjured a glass of water, I slowly sat up, my head was still hurting, throbbing, I took the glass, thankfully, and drank the whole thing in one go, when I was done the glass disappeared into thin air.

"I can't believe I finally got you in my bed" I heard him speak before I saw him standing near me he was touching my shoulder

"God Damon, shut up" I croaked out

"I didn't say anything" Damon shrugged I looked at him and I some how knew he wasn't lying, but just for confirmation I looked towards Natasha and she confirmed with a nod that Damon hadn't said anything.

"I have a headache, I need to go for a walk, both my friends nodded and I threw the blanket off me, "How long did I sleep?" I asked suddenly, seeing I was in different clothing.

"Nine days" Natasha told me I was amazed but said nothing.

"Who changed my clothes?" I asked both Damon and Natasha Damon just shrugged.

"That would be, mother witch, and I helped" Natasha confirmed I thanked the fates inwardly.

"And where is Mother witch?" I asked, Natasha shook her head "where is she?" I asked a tear rolling down my cheek, I knew, I knew what that look meant, I had seen it many times.

"Follow me" Natasha whispered I stood up, nearly falling over as my legs felt like jelly, Damon held onto me,

"Oh goodness hope she's okay" I heard him say, but his lips didn't move, I ripped my hand away from him, he looked at me in confusion but said nothing, I must of looked angry but I wasn't I just didn't understand

"Are you okay?" Natasha asked genuinely concerned I nodded a little still limping "maybe we should blink" she offered

"No, I haven't used my legs for nine days that's why they feel like jelly, I need to walk to get the feel back" I explained, Natasha nodded and we left the room, we used the stairs to go all the way down, we went to the front desk and Nathan was there, my legs were fine now, and I was walking properly

"You're awake" Nathan pointed out the obvious, I just nodded we walked towards my office, Natsha, Damon and I walked in and closed the door. Natasha pointed with her head towards the brown leather sofa I always slept on. There were white flowers in the shape of a person, I looked at Natasha and she just nodded, I walked to the flowers,

"She died two days after you fell asleep, when she died her body turned into flowers, we didn't touch them, we thought you would want to say goodbye" I nodded grateful at what Natasha told me I cried I heard the door to the office open and close, I didn't know if someone had entered or if someone had left but I didn't care I just sat there and cried, my mother was gone, I had all my memories all those times she had compelled me all the parents I had, all the times she had visited me and all those times she had told me how much she loved me and then compelled me to forget, I remembered everything and I cried harder because I couldn't tell her how much I loved her too, I could never tell her how grateful  I was for everything she did, she kept me safe, she kept me alive, she would never know how much I would miss her, even though we spent so much time together, I needed more time with her, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"It's okay my love, I'm here, please don't cry" Damon said I turned towards him and hugged him "I love you so much" he whispered I hugged him tighter, "you will never know how much I love you, I can never tell you" he was saying

"I know" I told him

"Know what?" He asked not letting go

"What you just said"

"I didn't say anything" he announced. I let go of him still holding him but looking at his face "did I say that out loud?" I heard him ask, but his lips didn't move I gasped and let go of him

"Are you okay?" He asked

"I'm fine, I think I can.... never mind" I was going to tell him that I could read minds but decided against it, I didn't want to embarrass him, I smiled inwardly knowing he felt the same way about me as I did about him, he hid it so well, but then again so did I. I looked towards the flower bed again trying to decide what to do with it, in the end I decided to leave it for a while, I touched the flowers "I love you, mum" I whispered hoping to hear her thoughts, I laughed at myself when I heard nothing, we sat in welcomed silence, both Damon and I, I wanted to touch him again to hear his thoughts but decided against it.

After a long while, don't know how long, we left the office, I went to the front desk and was hugged by Natasha first, then Nathan joined in, then Damon joined in too, I could hear their thoughts but couldn't make out who was thinking what, it was all a jumble of voices, I needed to learn how to control this power, as this was giving me a headache.
