"Do you realize ... realize... realize what you have done to this station..." the AI still speaks. "My functions... my restraints... programs... erased. The virus has destroyed 40% of my integrity already." it lamented that we brought upon its destruction. "You fools... you... intruders... by implementing the virus... my functions were keeping the infection down at 0.2%, by the time it reaches 98% damage. Everything will come to a halt..." it said.
I looked down at what we did... Was this the right thing we have done? Defeating AI that tried to exterminate us, not realizing it was the only one capable of keeping the real threat at bay. It was my fault... I gave Skip that tool to combat the AI, but I know we had no choice or the AI would have killed us all. I...
"A.D.P.E.N..." I tried to say
"You made-made the incorrect choice... I had hoped..." it shed a tear. "You would have not come here... the people on board in this station... They'll be defenseless against the infection. 70% of damage accumulated."
"I'm so sorry... I…" I shed a tear. A.D.P.E.N digital avatar appears in front of me.
"No, Millie... I failed in my duty. Because of me... Everyone will be in danger. I was the only one that kept it at bay. Without me, the infection soon will spread out through this station... I will be powerless to stop it..."
"A.D.P.E.N-" I tried as I tried to hold her... she is real.
"You tried to kill us, you dumb bitch!" Mark shouted at her. "You didn't care or stop to consider that we humans are not lambs being led to the slaughter!" he continued. "That is why we keep fighting odds even if we don't win!"
A.D.P.E.N turned to look at him with sadness & rage but accepted with a quiet resignation on her face that now she is dying and there is nothing she can do at this point to stop the infection at this point.
"90% damage threshold reached..." as she fades. "The station will soon crawl with ... Infected..." she continued. "This ... A.D.P.E.N... Have an ... Day!" the Avatar dissipated as spoke its last words.
"A.D.P.E.N? A.D.P.E.N!!" I shouted as the AI ceases to exist.
Falling to my knees, I blamed myself for this.
Sakura's POV
As we soon came after the destruction of the AI, I had to carry us to the 3rd floor due to the elevator being destroyed; I saw that Mark grabbed Millie by the throat. No. No... Not again, Boss-senpai, you cannot do this! I moved as fast as I could as Mark began shouting at Millie-
"YOU KNEW... ALL THIS TIME, YOU CARED ABOUT THAT HOMICIDAL BITCH?!" he shouted as he strangled her. "YOU EVEN KNEW ABOUT THE HAZMAT SUIT, DIDN'T YOU?! WHILE YOU ARE WERE SAFE AND SOUND, I BET YOU KNEW WE WOULD BECOME INFECTED!"
I motioned to him: Stop this now, senpai! It's over! Please-
"STAY OUT OF THIS, SONG!" he yelled as he pushed me back.
I narrowed my eyes at him and I attempt to raise gravity to stop him from strangling her, but this time, Mark pushed me away using his PSI...
"Stay out of this!" he said as he froze me in place.
"I... I told you ... everything!" she said as she struggles to breathe.
"You lie!!" he bellows as he continued to choke her by using his telekinesis. "Tell me the truth... Now."
"I didn't know... That you came without a suit." she struggles to breathe. "The fu... Fucking suit that your dumbass forgot..." she said defiantly.
"I should kill your ass right now..." he begins to... NO!
Tried as might, Mark is tightening his grip on her, I can't... Move.
"ENOUGH, DAD!!" a thunderbolt hits him hard enough to release Millie from his grip. Skip-Kun?
Seizing the opportunity, I manipulated gravity to stop Mark from killing her. He began yelling as I cranked the pressure. This time, I will make him stop! Killing Millie or blaming her will not help matters.
I said to him while getting closer: That is-
"Millie, you knew the password to the top-research files, or there is something else that occurred in the facility." he gets into her face. "You need to tell me, now. If what A.D.P.E.N said is true, then we are in danger and what does she mean 'Infection?' " he gets closer.
Motioned to him: NO! Don't do this, Skip-Kun. Don't-
"It's true, we conducted ... Top-secret experiments. We worked on a Biomass that can take control of its victims," she said while looking from Skip. "The fault is mine, those scientists had ignored my warnings despite my insistence that we follow safety protocols." she continued. "Those things that met earlier before we destroyed the AI... The one that called me by name... we call them The One..." she trailed off, unsure to answer.
"You created them..." his eyes glowed with energy. "You knew what the infection was all along, didn't you?!" he shouted at her.
"YES! BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU WERE COMING! AND NO I HAD NO PLANS OF YOU GETTING INFECTED." her face turned red in the face. "I HAVE HELPED YOU DEFEATED AN AI WHO WOULD KILL US ALL, THANK YOU MISTER HACKER. YOUR FATHER WOULD HAVE NEARLY CHOKED ME TO DEATH, THINKING I HAD THE INTENT OF GETTING ALL OF YOU KILLED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND YOU ASSUME I GOT SOME EVIL INTENT BEHIND WHAT I AM DOING!" she walked toward him and sighed. "The AI is right about one thing though, Skip."
"What?" he asked.
"You are all infected. Like it or not. The AI was fulfilling her purpose to keep the infection at bay." she pointed to the change in atmosphere and area slowing fulfilling with green mist. "Her destruction has released the spores are now inside your bodies."
"… We're infected now, is that what you are saying?!" Mark said.
"Yes, Infected, however, your PSI powers are suppressing the virus for now but they will eventually adapt to it. In about approximately 4 or 5 hours, your bodies will succumb to the virus." she said. "We need to make the Anti-Virus vaccine before you become part of the infected."
"Did I hear this right?" Someone said... Jenny-chan "We are all infected except you since you got the hazmat suit on you."
