My alarm goes off which means I actually slept until 6:30am. I groan and sit up before grabbing my phone and shutting off the alarm. I stretch with a yawn and I find an outfit for the day, all blue today, blue skinny jeans with rips in the thighs and knees, a tight blue v-neck (yes I am obsessed with v-necks), I blue superman leather belt and blue tennis shoes. I took a shower and got dressed while doing the rest of my morning hygienic routine. When I was ready I grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs only to be met by Aden in my kitchen cooking and my mom smiling drinking her coffee at the table.
I sit my bag down and they both see me and smile at me while saying "Good morning!" I smile back and say "Good morning to you both as well but where's the French maid costume?" Aden blushes and then as my mom is laughing he says "If you want to see me in my underwear all you have to do is ask" with a wink and a smirk. I smirked back this time and said "Well go ahead 'Magic Mike' let's see what ya got." I then pulled a $1 bill out of my wallet and wave it around. He didn't have a verbal comeback so he just walked over, pulled me to my feet and had an arm wrapped around my waist to hold me tightly up against him from our chest to our knees and he pulled back quickly with an "OUCH!" I laughed because I was prepared and pinched him. He narrowed his eyes and pouted "That's not fair" and went back to cooking. My mom being my mom said "Stop that, it might get you in trouble at school today since the principle is friends with the McGowan's from what I'm told and Aden could complain that it's assault." Aden smiled widely and said "You know Mrs McLean, now that you mention it, he could cause permanent nerve damage by always pinching me like that." I rolled my eyes and said "You both suck and not in the good way. That was one of my fun pastimes."
Just then Aden was serving breakfast and I finally ask "Are you sure this is safe? You ARE a jock so it may be dangerous to eat something you cooked…mom you go first." Mom scoffed and gave me an indignant look and said "I love you too son, thanks for offering me up as your personal sacrificial lamb." I patted her arm sympathetically as she picked up a fork of eggs and I said "I'll let the doctors know you want heroic measures taken to save your life." Mom gave me a go to hell laughing look and took a bite. She moaned and started eating without stopping. I turned suspiciously to Aden with narrowed eyes and said "Who taught you to cook?" He smiled brightly and said "My dad, he said my future partner might like breakfast in bed some day and thought I should at least know how to make breakfast food." I took a bite and it was DELICIOUS. Aden sat and ate with us and said "I plan to make this entire day great for you so write down instructions for what still needs to be done to finish dinner at my house and I'll get Russ to take it to the other cooks after school. We're making today all about you. Now, I have to get to school early so enjoy the rest of breakfast and I'll see you shortly beautiful" he then kisses my cheek and walks out while saying goodbye to my mom. Mom finally said "Not every boy would go to these lengths for anyone, especially somebody who has repeatedly turned them down cold." I smiled and said "I guess I'm special then hu?" She laughed and said "To me of course, you're my baby. To other people…you're special in a different way." I scoffed and playfully slapped her arm while laughing.
Mom and I finish eating and she keeps going on and on about how cute Aden is and how sweet he is to put up with my stubbornness and dealing with my 'playing hard to get' attitude. Finally I finish eating and go re-brush my teeth before grabbing my backpack, popping a piece of my favorite minty gum in my mouth and running out to the car, tossing my bag in the back seat. I get to Jodie's house and she puts hers in the back and pulls mine to her side of the back seat which makes me ask "Um, why did you do that?" She smiles and says, I'll be taking it and meeting you at your locker, don't worry, you have surprises all day." I roll my eyes and say "He got you and my mom working for this hu?" She chuckles and says "More than just us…wait and see."
She turns on the stereo and start playing the Glee mash-up of "I Still Believe and Super Bass" and we started singing with the radio turned up. She kept slowing me down at spots along the way to school and by the time we pulled into the parking lot the song was finishing. When we pulled in I saw part of Aden's entourage standing in front of a front row center parking spot and they gestured for me to take the spot. I pulled in and one of them opened my door and Jodie handed another my backpack and they ran off. I got out thanking them and locked the car up and they ran off ahead of me. I walked cautiously toward the school wondering what on earth he had up his sleeve next…he DID say he was going to make the entire day great for me so here we go. I got to the door and a guy from the football team opened the door for me and handed me a red rose. I saw people standing along the hallway as far as I could see from my vantage point, all holding single red roses. As I would get close to each one they would hand me the red rose they were holding and just smiled silently. It reminded me of the 'Stepford Wives'by how creepy the silent smiles were but was sweet and also reminded me that I once told Jodie how romantic the proposal was on Glee and that was both Jodie and my favorite show even after it was canceled we kinda mourned its loss which now I know was silly but then it seemed legitimately devastating. I knew this part definitely came from her and I figured breakfast came from his dad as an idea since he taught him to cook breakfast foods and told him that his future partner would enjoy breakfast but in bed. When I got to my locker, Jodie has switching out my stuff for the first half of the day books and notebooks. She finished and smiled before running off with a jock who was carrying my backpack walking side by side with her. I continued on and the people went all the way to the classroom door where I saw that he even enlisted faculty and staff including the principle in his romantic gesture. When I stepped into the classroom Aden was standing by my desk with a white rose that seemed to be almost tie-dyed slightly but was still white wherever there wasn't a dye splashed onto it which was a significant portion of the rose. When I stepped up to him he slid the rose into the center of the bouquet I now held and he said "This is to symbolize your unique beauty and purity of heart standing out in the crowd of the ordinary." I heard a bunch of 'Awws' and 'Ooohs' from the girls around the class which reminded me that we weren't alone. I blushed so badly and said "Thank you Aden, that's very sweet of you" and give him a quick kiss on the cheek. He stepped aside and let me sit down and sat beside me while beaming at me brightly. He had me seriously flustered in a good way and I could NOT stop blushing and smiling.
Jodie came over and held out a vase for me to put the flowers in and then sat it on the windowsill in the classroom next to my desk with a big smile on her face because she knew this gesture had worked and earned Aden MAJOR points. Aden then said "You'll be getting surprises all day today between classes and after school, be prepared and don't worry about the flowers, the principle is going to take them to the office and Jodie is going to take them to your house for you when her mom picks her up."
The class ended soon and again, before I could grab my bag, a jock grabbed it and took off I'm assuming toward my next class. I noticed that most of the people, including the jocks who were involved in this, I had seen at Aden's house plenty of times. I stepped out of class and saw a sign across the hall that said 'I love the way you laugh', as I turned and start down the hall there is another that says 'I love the way you smile so brightly', then another that said 'I love how often you roll your eyes at the corny things people say…especially me', another said 'I love how smart you are', then 'I love how quick you are to put me in my place when I step out of line', last I saw one by my classroom door that said 'I love how incredibly you sing and dance anywhere without a care in the world at what anyone thinks about you.' Inside the class was Russ with one last sign and I saw him with his phone Facetiming, the last sign said 'I love how beautiful you are on the inside and out'. I blushed again…damn it, I hate blushing but he's doing such a good job I can't help it. I smile at the phone and quietly say "That's another sweet idea Aden, thank you"…wait I'm not shy…why did I just speak so…nevermind, it doesn't matter because he is already at the point of my mind halfway being made up to say yes and it's only second period. Aden smiles and says "I know school is important to you so I decided to Facetime and be in my class so you wouldn't think I was skipping class." I said "That sounds like me doesn't it? Haha" He smiled at the camera and blew me a kiss before saying "Goodbye for now beautiful" and cut the connection just as the bell rang. I was a blushing mess again as the girls were all smiling so hard I thought their faces were going to crack. I went to my seat as Russ folded up the sign and sat next to me and asked "So, how's he doing so far?" I looked over at him with a small smile pretending unsuccessfully that I wasn't as impressed as I was and said "He's doing pretty well but still has a little ways to go." He immediately started texting…obviously Aden. The class again went by fast and I couldn't tell you what we discussed or what the assignment was but the teacher handed a paper to the jock who had my backpack again and he slid it inside.
There was nothing in the hall this time and when I got to class Aden was seated in the desk behind mine. I sat down, pulled out my book and notebook and turned saying "Hi Aden, how has your day been?" He smiled and winked before saying "It's going pretty well; I think I may have a boyfriend by tonight." I blushed and said "You sound pretty confident." He smirked and said "Yep, now I'm going to give him a shoulder rub all through class…don't worry one of my friends is taking notes for me. Now, turn around so I can start please." I chuckled while shaking my head at how silly and sweet he is but turned around. He was REALLY good at giving a shoulder rub. I almost moaned once but held it in to avoid embarrassment. By the end of class I felt really relaxed. Aden sent a quick text and again a jock took my backpack and then Aden took my hand and I let him. He held it as we went toward the cafeteria. I saw Jodie switching my books at my locker with the jock and she winked at me and grinned when she saw our hands.
When we were walking into the cafeteria my mom was walking out. I asked "Mom, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at work?" She smiled and said "Aden asked me for a favor so I took an early lunch break to help him out. By the way Aden, it's on the table your friends led me to and at the seat they said." Aden smiled and said "Thank you again Mrs. McLean. You have no idea how much I appreciate it." My mom smiled and said "It was my pleasure" then she looked at me and asked "How's he doing so far sweetheart?" I smiled coyly and said "Pretty well actually but I'll tell you about it later." Jodie walked by with my backpack valet of the day and waved quickly. Mom left a few minutes later with a final hug. We started heading for our table and I found a Greek salad from my favorite restaurant waiting in front of my seat and a glass with a pitcher of my moms extra sweet, tea. I sat down and Aden sat next to me with a big smile. I looked over at him and whispered in his ear "You're bowling a perfect game here Mr. McGowan" before kissing his cheek again. He smiled back at me and said "That's the plan, you said I had to impress you and not to use the same old boring ideas but you said it in your own unique way" he winked at me and damn it I blushed AGAIN. I heard people say "aww" and "That's so sweet", mostly the girls of course. We ate and had a great conversation with everyone else talking amongst themselves to give us the chance to just talk to each other and enjoy each other's company.
All too soon, lunch ended and Aden walked me to my fifth period class holding my hand again but I was actually enjoying the contact today. He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it before giving me his perfect stunning smile and said "See ya later beautiful." I just said "Umm, ok, see ya later. When I walked in there was a box gift wrapped on my desk and again my backpack was there. I read the attached card and it said 'You deserve only the best so I got you the best. I hope you like it. There's another one at your house but I figured you'd like one for the kitchen at my house to use while you work.' I opened it and there was the best Bluetooth speaker money can buy that I have wanted forever, the UE Megaboom 3. It's big and heavy but puts out INCREDIBLE sound. I thought 'Oh my god he is just not what I thought he was. I just assumed he was some cocky meathead jock but he has taken everything he knows about me or could learn from my family and made this day perfect. I know he has received help on pretty much all of the ideas but it's still really sweet. I'm not going to tell him yet but he has already won me over completely. I look forward to what he comes up with next. When class ended the guy that has been taking my backpack everywhere took the speaker with him and headed toward the office apparently to put it with my roses to be picked up. He handed my bag off to another guy that was headed in the direction of my next class.
When I got to my next class there was another gift box. I sat down and the card read 'This is for one of your favorite hobbies and it's loaded up. I hope you'll enjoy it and get plenty of use out of it for years to come.' I opened the box and found a kindle inside. I feel kinda guilty that he's spending so much money on me but if I don't accept it might hurt his feelings because he did put some thought into these gifts. I smiled widely and asked one of the entourage to send Aden a text to let him know how much I loved it and that I'll thank him in person later, he sent the message and immediately got a reply that he showed me 'Tell him that I'm glad he likes it and I look forward to seeing him for his final surprise here at the school.' Again the class went by quickly and everything was taken away. I saw Jodie swap things out in my bag and the jock guy, I really need to learn his name, took my stuff to the office.
Jodie came over to me and Russ did as well. They each grabbed one of my arms and started leading me through the halls. I asked "Where are we going?" Russ answered "That's a surprise." Jodie then added "And no, if you keep asking we won't tell you." They both laughed and I did my signature eye roll. We finally got to the door going out toward the football field. When we came into view of the football field there stood Aden and there was a piano nearby with somebody obviously there to play it. Aden was looking sharp in a dress shirt and slacks with a tie and dress shoes. He was smiling brightly as I was led to him. They stopped me a couple of feet in front of him and Jodie went and stood next to the piano. Aden said "This song reminds me of you and how I feel toward you." The pianist began playing and I immediately recognized the song as 'All Of Me' by John Legend and Jodie began singing while Aden smiled sweetly at me the entire time. I was listening to every word but kept my eyes locked on his. I never really paid attention to what the words all added up to but this time I absolutely did and felt a single tear drop down my face as I smiled. Aden reached out and wiped the tear away with his thumb. When the song finally ended Jodie and Russ were both beaming at me with Aden.
Aden then asked "Do I need to wait until tonight to ask the question or have you made up your mind already?" I laughed a bit and said "You can ask now, in fact you could have ask after lunch. He got down on one knee like he was proposing which made me look at him like he was crazy and opened a ring box that contained two beautiful gold rings. They were identical, white gold bands with small diamonds all the way around in the center. They were truly beautiful. Aden then said "Don't freak, they're just promise rings. I care for you very much and love how difficult you can be. You challenge me and have no trouble putting me in my place if you feel I have stepped out of line. So, Ryan McLean, will you be my boyfriend?" I didn't hesitate and softly said with a smile "I said if you impressed me that I would agree and you definitely impressed me so yes I will." He smiled and stood back up and put the ring on my finger and asked me to do the same. I slipped his ring on his finger and heard cheers and applause coming from the bleachers. I turned around and my mom, Aden's parents, as well as the football team, dance team, the entourage and many other students were there. I turned back to Aden and he wrapped his arms around my waist while I put mine around his neck as he pulled me up against him firmly and then…he kissed me. He kissed gently yet passionately and seemed to growl as I quietly moaned. When we broke apart we were surrounded by our friends and family. Apparently there was a consensus among everyone who exasperatedly said "FINALLY!" Aden smiled warmly down at me and said "It was WELL worth the chase." I blushed so hard and my response was "Thank you. I'm glad you didn't give up now even though you were a creeper at first and then annoyed me constantly after but it WAS fun beating you and Russ up though" I smirked for the last part of that statement. He and Russ both scoffed trying to deny it but Jodie and others in their little entourage knew it was true.
Aden wrapped me in a tight hug, lifting me off my feet kissing me on the cheek and twisting slightly back and forth. He pushed his face into my neck and inhaled deeply seeming to relax. We all stood around talking for a while before the crowd dispersed. Aden and I walked slowly toward the parking lot hand in hand making casual conversation. When we got to my car he give me another kiss and said "I'll see you tonight beautiful, 7pm on the dot so be ready. I looked up at him in a coy way and asked "Oh? What exactly do you have in mind Mr. McGowan?" He smirked and said "You'll just have to wait and see babe." I smirked and said "Did you just call me babe?" He smiled and puffed out his chest before saying "Well, I did win your affection enough to get that ring on your finger and to say yes to being my boyfriend. I think that entitles me to call you babe and you can call me baby, dear or whatever you like." I smiled and said "Ok, baby it is." I got in my car smirking and pulled away from him with a quick wave that had him smirking but gawking in a dumbfounded way at the same time.
