The next morning, I woke up to the dizzying smell of breakfast being in the works. I got out of bed still in my pyjamas and came out of the room yawning.
I saw Minhyuk behind the kitchen counter making breakfast. "Hey, morning." I said in a sleepy voice. He turned around and said "Good morning, sleepyhead." "I made breakfast for your portion too." I sat down at a tall wooden chair looking across from a white marble table. "Thanks," I said. "You woke up early today?" "How was your sleep?"
"I slept well. And soundly too." He smiled as he brought the plates down on the table. Before I ate breakfast, I went to the living room area to look at today's newspaper. I l flipped through them without actually reading them, although it's for the sake of the latest news. I stopped at the third page of the paper showing a large cut out photo of a familiar someone, who I know as Lea and Wonho. They were being followed around as the cameras shot them at a further angle. "Ivy would love this even more." I thought. "I wouldn't feel comfortable with a camera following my every move all the time.
I was starting to feel a little jealous where the famous designer gets stuck with someone like her. However, add to that he's always so busy. There doesn't seem to have time to meet.
" Lea? " I tore my eyes away from the paper to look up. "Breakfast is ready, come and eat."
I stared down at my breakfast plate now filled with perfectly made sunny side up, bacon and toast bread. It looks so delicious that I couldn't wait. However I took my time and did not touch the food. MInhyuk must have seen my mood the whole time because he said "Lea, aren't you hungry?" I realised that and grabbed a fork. "Yeah." And twisted the fork around the food. But as I was about to eat, I thought of something. I got up again to my bag and rummaged through the pile and found a flyer from when I went to Manhattan.
I showed the flyer with the magician imprint to Minhyuk and asked if he would want to go? "Will you come with me? Please?" I was practically begging him.
He turned the paper around and said "A magic show?" He seems to think hard. "That's right. I promise it'll be fun. Okay?" I pout my lips the best I can to persuade him which I have always done way back in high school before he changes his mind. Minhyuk couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright. I'll go with you." I squealed with joy!
"When is it anyway?" He asked. "Oh, it should be in the flyer there." I turned the paper towards me for a better look. "It's actually this coming week." I said, pointing to the bottom of the information.
After the dishes, plates and cups were washed and put away, I went to get change into something comfortable to wear. But shortly then, my phone rang and Minhyuk called from outside. I was not ready, so I asked him to pick up the call.
I got out of the room now but heard the frustrating tone coming from my friend. I rushed to his side and tried to grab the phone from him. I made a motion telling him to give it back, worried that it could be from work.
After some tries, I got it back and took the call. "Hello?" I hesitate out of embarrassment. "Lea? Is that you?" I heard the other line ask a bunch of questions but I recognised the voice.
"Kihyun!" "Hey?" He then said, "Who's that on the phone a while ago?" I replied and told him that my friend picked up the call. It seems that he disregarded that because he changed the topic and told me that the company's lights still need some work and that the electrical fuse box was fried." Just to let you know." I then told him that it's going to take a few days anyway. "Kihyun, I need to go now." But as I was about to hang up, he stopped me with another invitation. "Lea, if you're free this weekend maybe we could go out?" I feel the soft awkward tone on the other line. Unfortunately I rejected him.
"Sorry, Kihyun. But I'm totally packed this weekend " I said apologetically. "Maybe some other time." Then I hung up the phone to look at Minhyuk. "You should have put me on the line" I said. "Well, you were busy at the moment." he protested, "I was just helping."
Before we could say more, another call came and this time it was Mr Alvin. "Mr Alvin. Good morning!" I said with a tiny enthusiastic voice. He went on straight to business and told me that the plans for the event will be pushed back. And since I'm doing the planning and assisting, I had to change the plans all over again.
"The dates had to be rearranged for this month's project." he grunted. "Mr Wonho will not like it but there was no other choice." He stopped talking. "You'll have to push the dates back to the last week, okay?"
"Uh sure, boss" I replied. "I'll make the arrangements just as soon." And the line was hung up.
I looked at my friend still with his mood swings and said "Let's go shopping." I got my bag and one foot already out the door before he had the chance to change his mind.
"Tell me why we're going shopping again?" He asked as we got out of the parking lot. "Because it's good to walk out of pressure?" He stared at me confused. So I smiled at him and walked first.
"You still haven't told me." he raised his voice from behind trying to keep up. "About what?" I said, knowing what he was going to ask. "The phone call."
"Okay Min. You're taking this way too seriously" I said. But he was still not convinced. "He's a friend. A photographer. And he works for the company, that's how I know him. Chill!" Minhyuk raised his eyebrow and said "Just a friend?"
"Yes." But I took it back and redo my words. "Okay, maybe but he saved me a whole lot of times in big, big situations." I recalled, realising what Kihyun did for me so many times.
