"Mommy, where's dad?… I saw him on the television," Emma said excitedly from her seat to her mother while swinging her legs.
This caused Victoria to look up from her book as she gave her daughter a grim smile before answering, "Your daddy met in accident… He won't be able to contact you for a while."
It hurt her every time she lied to her daughter, but there's always going to be a time where you're going to have to hurt people to protect the one you love.
In this case, it was different. She was hurting the very person she was trying to protect.
"Look, baby," she stated with a sigh as she closed her book and placed it to her side.
"I know you miss Ciro and your father… But, I'm here and you're here, we can finally have that girl vacation you've always wanted," she said while wiggling her brows as she nudged her shoulders with her daughter's.
"No," voiced Emma softly as she scooted away from her mother while pouting angrily.
