Chapter 42:
"Where's my Mother?!" screamed Emma as she stomped into the room. It had been days since she last saw her mother, or even her father for that matter.
'And she needed it,' thought the stranger as he took a huge bite from his burger. His boss has once again thought it was better for him to watch the Jamespells.
And although considered a Monseiratti legally. Emma and Ciro were a Jamespell by both heart and blood.
"Dealing with the cubs, I see," said the stranger before he chuckled at his own joke as he took a sip of his beer.
The air was ripe with the pleasant, dewy petrichor of the post-rain afternoon. And the stranger loved it.
It reminded him of his home back in England. Too bad he could only salvage one memory that's worth remembering.
From the hidden cameras, he installed in the house. The stranger could both see and hear what's going on in the house.
Well, that's not entirely true.
The stranger could only see what was going on in the house currently. And this was because the because of the little girl and her screaming kinda left a ringing sensation in his ears.
"I just leave that for now," he thought as he took the earbuds from his ear.
'This his going to be a long day,' he thought as he positioned himself properly in the tree. The last thing he wanted was to fall and hurt himself.
"This kid is going to cause a lot of problems for us," the stranger heard someone as they stood under the tree. The stranger sat up in shook almost losing his balance.
'This is not good,' he thought as he shook his head. His things were down there and if seen, it could blow his cover.
"B-But kids are easy to bribe.... surely we shouldn't have a problem," said Twat 2 as he crossed his arms.
The stranger gave the two a nickname of his own, so he wouldn't be in confusion in the long run.
"We weren't sent here to bribe those snobby kids," snared Twat 1 in disgust as she played with her hair.
The stranger kinda felt bad for invading their privacy.
'The could be lovers for god's sake,' he thought as he reasoned with himself, trying to find an excuse to leave.
Twat 2 gave her a glare before shaking his head, "It's part of our job written or unwritten," he said as he tried to get her to understand the key point in what he was saying.
"Bullshit," she said while shaking her head, "I definitely am not going to do something that's not written in my job description," she hissed as she pointed towards herself.
"God," groaned Twat 1 in frustration before throwing a punch at the tree behind him.
'Christ!' exclaimed the stranger mentally as he quickly grabbed a limb of the tree.
"What the actual hell," he whispered almost inaudibly as he stared at Twat 1.
"Was that meant to scare me?" asked Twat 2 in confusion as she pointed towards the tree before laughing.
"That was quite the display of masculinity right there," she chortled while reaching for this hand.
'Ow!,' winced the stranger mentally as he stared at the condition of Twat 2's hand.
"This looks like it's hurting you badly," observed Twat 1 as she pressed down at his damaged hands.
"I-," was all he got out before his partner interrupted him.
"And don't even try to act like everything is fine," she warned.
"I mean, look at it... It's fucking terrible!" she exclaimed as she turned her head to look at the tree.
Silence reigned for a moment before Twat 1 defeated it by laughing.
"You have such a nasty bruise and you didn't even put a dent on the tree... pathetic," she said as she shook her head.
"My grandma could do better," she continued as she sat on the wet grass.
"Stop it," said Twat 2, "You're trying to shift the conversation."
"Maybe I am," Twat 1 replied while shrugging, "It's useless for you to convince me."
"Who's trying to convince you?" asked the second Twat in an incredulous tone as he looked around him with his arms wide open.
"I'm only trying to help you.... so don't get things twisted," he continued.
'I definitely missed something,' thought the stranger while nodding his head, 'Or maybe it's just that they're just really stupid.'
"Yeah... say what you want, but I'm not doing it," voiced Twat 1 as she rolled her eyes. "Besides, why don't you do it if you're so determined to have me do it?" she queried as she arched her brows.
'Attagirl,' thought the stranger as he leaned forward to get a better view of what's happening. And saw Twat 2 giving Twat 1 a murderous glare.
"Because you're the one who's supposed to do it," Twat 2 said like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"And also it's not in my job description," he said in the most snobbish tone. This caused both the stranger and Twat 1 to open their mouth in disbelief.
'Yeah, I'm right.... they're definitely stupid,' the stranger confirmed as he nodded his head.
"Are you hearing yourself right now?" asked the first Twat in disbelief. "You're saying exactly what I said earlier."
"You're a fucking asshole... you know that," she said before shaking her head and standing up.
"Hey where are you going?" asked Twat 2 when he noticed his partner walking away from him.
The stranger watched in amusement as Twat 1 gave Twat 2 a middle finger as she called out mockingly, "I can't... it's not in my description to tell you."
"That's not fair!," shouted Twat 2 as he went after her.
Two minutes later, the stranger jumped out of the tree after he felt the coast was clear.
His arm was a tad sore from holding on to the tree limb for so long.
"This mission is one of the best so far," he said as he tried to imitate the voice of a reporter.
'This was totally worth the pain,' he thought as he threw a glance at his arm.
