Chapter 28 :
The stranger ran to the receptionist with Victoria in his arms and informed.
"She's developed a very severe case of hypothermia, and I think she's dying."
The receptionist rolled his eyes while pausing his movie. He had planned his entire schedule to make time for his movie time.
'Jesus, why can't have some peace for once?' he thought while turning to the person in front of him. And released a startled gasp when he saw a pale Victoria in the guy's arms.
The receptionist stared at Victoria's body and observed her that her skin had taken a pale blue color and her body had a severe case of shivering. Pointing his well-done nails towards her body, the receptionist pointed out the obvious, "She doesn't look so well."
The stranger rolled his eyes at the receptionist's statement and said in a monotone voice, "I know that already, or else I wouldn't be here."
"So, can you please call a doctor and tell them that's it an emergency," pleaded the stranger while fixing Victoria in his arms. And watched as the receptionist to the phone and held it to ear, before pausing.
"You know, come to think of it... I could've sworn I heard the doctors talking about taking a break," said the receptionist while putting his finger on his chin; before continuing, "But, I'm not sure tho."
"Well then, pick up the god-damn phone and ask!" shouted the stranger in frustration. There was someone in his arms that's probably on the brink of dying, and this guy was acting like there wasn't anything serious about the situation.
The receptionist placed his right on his chest then gasped, "Exsqueeze me, who are you talking to... cause it sure ain't me," the receptionist dramatically wiped away his fake tears while looking to the ceiling and said, "I can't believe you... I mean, I'm here using my well-deserved break by helping you, and you turn around and treat me like this."
And at this time almost everyone in the waiting area eyes was on them.
'Jesus Christ, this dude is a fucking drama queen' thought the stranger while bouncing Victoria up and down.
Looking at the receptionist, the stranger sighed as he made thought of an offer that could ruin his life.
"I mean, I'm one of the kindest souls on this forsaken plane-" the receptionist paused, talking in disbelief. He had never been so disrespected in his life, and now this guy in front of him dares to cut him off mid-speech. Un-fucking-believable.
"Hey," said the stranger as he interrupted the receptionist, "I have an offer for you," he stated as he looked him in the eyes.
'This is interesting,' thought the receptionist as he folded his arms. Raising his eyebrows, he leaned forward while placing his hands on the desk. "An offer you say... hmm, and what does this 'offer' entail?" he asked.
The stranger shrugged and said, "I don't know...you decide, just as long as you get her a doctor. ASAP."
' Maybe I could shoot my shot,' thought the receptionist as he offered the guy in front of him a flirtatious smile and a wink.
"Well, you see...," trailed off the receptionist, "I think you could go out with me next week."
The stranger merely shrugs. He didn't have a problem because he was bisexual. And needed a brief break from the female population right now. "Ok, now call a doctor," he said.
"So bossy," muttered the receptionist as he held the phone to his ear.
"Hey Louise, remember that favor you said that you owed me?" said the receptionist to the doctor on the other side of the line. "Well girl, I'm using right now," said the receptionist before pausing.
"Don't worry about it... just come to the front desk, you'll see." said the receptionist as he ended the call. Turning towards the stranger, he gave him a wide smile and said.
"I've kept my end of the bargain.... hopefully you can do the same."
The stranger was about to reply to him when someone out of nowhere and took Victoria from his arms. "Hey what are you doing?" demanded the stranger as he tried to reach for Victoria.
"Calm down, he's taking her to a private room," said the receptionist as he looked on his nails. "I told the doctor about her condition, so you won't have to worry about that," he continued while shrugging.
"Thank you," said the stranger, "If it wasn't for you, I-"
"Stop right there," interrupted the receptionist before continuing, "If it wasn't for the lack of someone in my love life saved her..., not me."
"So..." trailed off the receptionist before asking, "What relationship do you have with her?"
The stranger gave him a confused frown and pointed towards the direction Victoria went and queried, "Who?… she?"
'Is he slow or something?' thought the receptionists before smiling at him as replied with a simple, "yeah."
The stranger gave her a small smile and said, "I don't know her actually, I found her unconscious on the road and brought her right here."
The receptionist stared at the stranger in awe before saying, "you're like her guardian angel... I mean, if it was anyone else, I'm sure they would've left her there."
'Yeah, I'm one of those people,' thought the stranger as he scratched behind the back of his neck nervously.
"I'm with you on that one. The world is home to some of the most selfish persons," declared the stranger while shaking his head, as if he was very disappointed.
The receptionist looked at the strange in interest before saying, "Good thing that people like you still exist", "to take care of the less fortunate at all," continued the receptionist. He then wiggled his brows at the stranger, then said, "You could help me too, you know... I'm also one of the less fortunate."
"Wow, you are straightforward," said the stranger while scratching his head.
'This is gonna be interesting,' thought the stranger.
