Chapter 2 - Abortion... Yes?

Chapter 2 :

The tension in the room was thick, not even the sharpest knife could slice through. The two had remained silent, well more like Axel silent and Victoria glared.

Axel kept clenching and unclenching his hands. He felt nervous under Victoria's glare. Sweat ran from his forehead down to the waist of his pants.

Doctor Evans walked in happily whistling but fell short as he sensed the tensed air 'couple's fight', he thought to himself.

Doctor Evans had seen the father's reaction when the mother had told him to abort the baby.

His expression had turned from concern to disgust in a microsecond. Remembering he had job to do, he cleared his throat and said, Miss Jamespell, we're ready.". and with that, he went outside.

To say she was nervous was an understatement Victoria was anxious, it's not like she was having second thoughts, I worried her that she might not get the chance to have kids in the future.

The sound of cellphone ringing shook Victoria out her thoughts. She turned her head to the sound and saw that the sound emitted was from Axel's pockets.

Just to realize that he had been staring at her for the longest while, it went like that for a minute or two, and the tension that had disappeared came back in a blink of an eye.

The Doctors and nurses could sense the tension coming from the room and tried anything they could to not be around that section.

"I still can't understand why you want to do this?", Axel asked

Victoria's hands trembled slightly as she felt her heartbeat pacing up, she tried to avoid his eyes as she stated, "I did not want his baby-", she paused mid-sentence as she noticed her slip-up, and Axel noticed too.

Trying to cover up her slip she lashed out at him. While throwing her hands to her side she retorted, "Why are you interested anyway it's not your child."

"Yes it is ", Axel wanted to say, but he refrained himself letting her know about the truth.

He wanted to tell her so badly, that night and the hotel it was not her beloved Everest, she lost her innocence to.

That child she was carrying was his heir, and she waited so long for his plans to fall into place and she would not let her abort the child, but she knew that it was her body, and he could not do a thing about it but watch.

Axel opened his mouth to once again try to stop her, but was interrupted by a nurse informing, Victoria, that the procedure was ready to begin.

He watched as Victoria exit the room and his blood boiled from his hatred for her killing his child.

Unknown to Axel, Victoria felt guilty that she wanted to take her child's life just because the father "cheated". Turning towards the nurse Victoria asked, "Do I still have the option to cancel ?".

The nurse gave Victoria a warm and inviting smile that made her face glow; It reminded Victoria of her Grandma when she used to visit for Christmas.

" Of course Dearie, It's your body you own it not anyone else", as she said that she had this faraway look in her eyes that gave Victoria the feeling that this lady has been somewhat in a situation like this, if not been in the situation itself.

Two hours later they were in a coffee shop that was located to the right of the hospital, and It seemed like in the span of two hours Victoria and the nurse, Mrs. Briggs, suddenly became best friends.

The sky suddenly darkens and a heavy shower of rain came down, soaking Mrs. Briggs and Victoria in the process.

The two ran towards a cab that had seemed to wait on Victoria; with a confused face, Victoria turns to Mrs. Briggs, just in time to see Mrs. Briggs taking out a dollar bill from her Louis Vuitton purse, which seemed strange to Victoria for a nurse to have such an expensive purse but quickly dismissed the thought.

'It could have been a gift, Victoria,' she chastised herself.

Mrs. Briggs enclosed Victoria in a motherly hug while rubbing her back and said," I see you soon, take care Dearie", During that time she somehow had the time to place the dollar bill into Victoria's hand.

Victoria stared in the direction the chirpy old lady went and shook her head with a small smile on her face, she finally stopped staring when the cab driver cleared his throat while glaring at Victoria, he harshly asked," Are you coming are what ?"

"I ain't got time to waste, time is money." He then said.

Victoria glanced at the car, then at him and went into the car while sighing, and she almost passed out when she saw the condition inside.

The car smelt had the stench of two days old worth of cigar and vodka, the car seats had a stain on it and the material was so worn out that you could see the gaping hole it had in the middle of it, Garbage was scattered on the floor and baby cockroaches were running all about.

Victoria tried to hide the look of disgust that was probably clear on her face and seated herself on the left side of the door near the window as she glanced wearily around her every two seconds.

Victoria wanted to get the hell home, so she would not have to become a victim of the cockroaches who was it seemed trying to befriend her.

You could have called an Uber or another cab, but you chose this one, her subconscious chortled, silently agreeing with her subconscious; Victoria thought of a list of things she had to get from Everest's apartment. The ringing of her phone distracted her.

Bringing her gaze towards her iPhone XS Max, she looked at the caller ID and saw that it was the very same person whose apartment she wanted to collect her stuff from.

Speak of the Devi, and he shall appear

That saying seems to true so far, she thought while declining the call. It continued like that for a while and like before; the result was the same: declining his calls.

Thirty minutes later, and Victoria was opening the door to her Condo. Yes, she was from a very well - known family.

With her father being ranked number two of, Forbes Richest Men In The World, and number one? Victoria did not know; but she liked the feeling of knowing that she earned and not inherited her money, and with that thought, she slipped away into the abyss.
