Chapter 4 - Happiness And Doubt

Chapter 4 :

The kitten purred tiredly as Victoria rubbed the side of its underbelly. It was a few months since the incident, and Victoria had decided that she would not dwell on past events.

The baby and its health were ok, and the OBGYN advised not to pressure herself because it may cause stress that could harm the baby's growth.

Mrs.Briggs had called one minute after the incident occurred, informing her that she had a dream where she had dreamt Victoria had a miscarriage.

When Victoria knew of this, she was so worried that for the rest of the remaining week; she devoted herself to sleeping, eating, and binging Netflix.

That did not mean she gave her work, those came by daily as her assistant.

Victoria had just closed a contract with a prestigious law firm, although the fashion company she owns was number one; she always had a fascination with the law from a very tender age. Victoria decided that it was best to give the kitten a name.

His name was Barry, he somehow had moved from Victoria's side and is now playing with a violet-colored chew ball. The small kitten looked so adorable playing with the ball.

The scene before her distracted her from the tiring thought of moving, turning her body to ards Barry, Victoria pouted her face and gushed over him.

"Who's mommy's little boy? ", she waited for a second while admiring his she blue eye.

And noticed the infinitesimal movement of Barry raising his small paw placing it directly on her right thigh, letting out a high-pitched squeal. Victoria saw how it feline's right ear twitched but ignored the gesture.

Victoria reached for Barry as if to hold him, looked like Barry notice because he ran out of the room leaving behind him a pouting and very emotional Victoria.

Meanwhile, Axel was at the park where he had noticed Victoria for the very first time. There she had been assisting an elderly guy with feeding the creatures living in the pond.

Her unnatural grace and features had captivated him and knew that what he was going to do next was going to be wrong. He did a background check on Victoria and came up to the realization that she had a boyfriend.

Axel also noticed that her step-sister was interested in that Every guy, he proposed an idea that they could all live with, this was because Hailey wanted the Every guy.

The Every guy wanted money, and he wanted Victoria. Although he did not get the chance to know Victoria, she came to the bar feeling sad that night. And he went towards where she was and one thing led to another and the following morning he had found himself in a hotel room with Victoria beside him.

Maria looked at her phone for the billionth time today. Her husband was supposed to meet her at the kids' school for their performance. She looked to where Luca and Andrea were and released a sigh when she noticed that they were playing with their schoolmates.

Maria checked her phone for the sixth time and chuckled bitterly when she saw the time. He had a minute left to get here before the show starts. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, she tried his phone once again. It was wrong of her to even doubt him.

He was her husband for god's sake, 'What's wrong with me?' she asked herself and almost released the tears of frustration she had parked at the lids of her eyes when she realized that he had declined her call again.

Maria scoffed when she received a text from him saying that he's busy and more important things came up and he can't leave. She holds back a sob at his careless attitude. She quickly typed back a response, basically saying asking if work is more important than his own family.

Shutting off her phone she went towards Luca and Andrea, were both trying to get her attention with a fake smile plastered on her face, she gathered both her babies into her arms ignoring Luca's frown, and kissed them both on their foreheads and faces murmuring both, 'I love you's' and 'My little Angles'.

Maria knew her Luca was very observant and he would not stop until he knew what was causing his mother to be so rattled and she knew that he knew his father had bailed again.

Although this was expected Luca and his father did not get along well, this all started when Luca accused his father of cheating of his mother; was she surprised, Yes?

Her husband wanted to ship him off to boarding school, and that was where the animosity began. Maria tried and Andrea tried so hard for both Luca and his father to become buddies again.

It drew out her of her dilemma when the last bell rang for the performers to do their last check over, saying their goodbyes to their mother.

She watched as they ran towards their teacher while smiling to herself and went to take her seat in for the upcoming performance.

The stranger sat there and slightly chuckled, as he noticed that Maria was completely thick-skulled about her marriage, but gave relationship advice for other couples. What an irony.

Looking at the list of paper in his hand, he reached into the pocket and brought forth a pencil he placed a small tick in the checkbox beside Maria's name.

Her name was the second name on the list out of forty. He did not know why he had to watch and record their behavior, but 'The Flacon' gave him a job to do.

He could not just blatantly ignore his order.

The stranger knew he was just a pawn in a greater game and he would do everything to make 'The Falcon' happy, even if it cost him his life because 'The Falcon' helped and his family when they were at their lowest point.

He opened his phone when he received a text notification. He suddenly sat up and straighten his back when we noticed he had received a message from 'The Falcon'.

The Stranger took out his camera and took a picture of Maria, before running out of the performance, down the hall. Ignoring the strange looks from the school staffs and suddenly collided with someone because of time, he did not look to see who the person was.

And muttered a quick sorry before going into the parking lot and getting into his car and driving off.

All he could think was, 'Damn Shit.'
