The scent of snake meat sizzling slowly on the roasting spit reaching his nostrils, Kael looked away from the status menu to pick up the slightly off putting snake kebab he threw together. the entrails and other off putting things dumped into its old den and covered with dirt and leaves, he dug into the chicken esque taste of the [Pit Snake], the tough and muscly meat quite juicy as he ate. About half a snake later, a ding sounded. [Gluttonous Nature has been activated, new Skill gained: [Feast]- The user of this Skill has a chance to gain status points from consuming enemies slain that were stronger than them prior to their death.] Eyes wide from his luck, he took another bite of snake and felt himself get a bit tougher somehow. Upon looking closer, his skin had gotten a little thicker and you could no longer see bones sticking out from underneath. [Gluttony triggered, Skill gained from consuming [Pit Snake], [Heat Sense]- User gets an active view of heat signatures costing 1MP per minute active.]
His spirits sky high, he learned later his CON had gotten a point, putting it at 3 and giving him a seeming huge 45HP. He was never this lucky back when it was a game, so he bowed his head in thanks as he finished the rest of his prey. Packing his things, he continued on through the depths of the forest path, keeping an eye out for any more weak mobs he could possibly ambush or kill to get a little more EXP. On the way, he used [Analyze] on everything in sight, after maybe 10 minutes a ding sounded. [Analyze has ranked up to (Lv2)]. Spurred on by this, he kept up the pace, the time it took to level doubling with each ding. After a while, he stopped getting dings altogether, his [Analyze] at (LvMax).
[Analyze can be upgraded, but the Player is not high enough level. SP is gained starting at LV 10.]
Trying not to be disappointed, he sighed and began to work on his [Weak Water Control] with some water from his supplies, the road getting wider as time went on. By the time he could see a town's walls, he had gotten it to (Lv5) and could now put enough force behind it to scratch a small amount of bark off a tree. His mana exhausted, he carried on before seeing a small sparking flame on top of a rock. 'A fire this close to the forest? Maybe it's another person, or a group of Adventurers from that town..' He thought silently, trying to keep quiet as he crept up behind another rock closer to it.
[Enemy found with Analyze, [Fire Salamander]. This enemy is = Player Level, no stats will be gained from consumption.]
The thick bodied creature was more like a lizard than a salamander, its thick tail and almost dragon-like snout coated in a small wreath of flame. Because nothing could possibly go wrong with attacking something that looked like a dragon, Kael crept slowly up to the rock it looked to be sunbathing on. Trying something out that he had read about before he died, he held his breath and moved slow, keeping out of its line of sight. The system dinged, but he ignored it to focus on his target. After he had gotten behind the Salamander, he exhaled and sprung up onto the rock, bringing his dagger down square into its neck. The hungry blade snapped open, severing its spine from inside the would, and the closed the gaping jawlike blades back as he pulled the dagger free.
[Skill learned, [Stealth(Lv1)], [Assassinate(Lv1)] [Assassinate triggered, Vital spot hit. Enemy killed, -20HP. Consume the flesh of [Fire Salamander] for a chance to gain a skill.]
Excited by his newfound skill gains, Kael began to butcher the salamander then and there, preserving the tail, skin, bones, claws, and teeth while filleting the meat and storing some in his backpack. [Butchering skill learned]. Now even happier, he smiled with glee as he took some of the leftover flames from its resting spot and cooked the flesh, the rock helping to sear it nicely. Snacking down on the tender, almost fishy taste of the [Fire Salamander], even more dings went off. [Gluttonous Nature(lv2), 10% chance to gain skill from consuming prey.] [Skill gained, [Weak Fire Control(lv1)]. Unique skill of [Fire Salamander] Gained, [Heat Strike]- Coats a weapon in flame (scales with fire control skill) and adds fire damage to your next attack. 5MP.]
"Hot damn! Now we're cooking with fire- oh ugh.." Ashamed for making such a terrible pun, he finished up the meat and stored some for later, checking that his EXP was up to 90% now. Trudging on, he made his way towards the town while practicing his new fire controlling abilities, a weak sputter of flame dancing in his palm. With only another hour of practice, it caught up to his water skills much faster than he thought it would- Maybe fire was his affinity? Entering the bustling, crowded town after being confirmed as a traveler by the guards, he made his way through the clean, cobblestone streets of Lindsburg, a town known for a past Hero who slew a high-level Lindworm and saved it when it was still a village. Gathering more useful info, he finally found a building with a familiar, simple crossed sword logo. "The Adventurers Guild" was a simple name for a complex organization, Where both class and level gave standing. Approaching the attendant, a pretty young woman with golden brown hair and eyes, with a rather nice shape to back it up, Kael stood patiently waiting for the paperwork she had in her hands to be filed before speaking. "Excuse me! I would like to register for the Guild, if you don't mind."
"Oh? Of course, sir. I'm Marly, the Guildmaster. We're rather shorthanded here, since there are few monsters and all, so any new blood is welcome!" She gave him a bubbly smile, surprising him when she stated she was Guildmaster. Only those level 50 or higher were able to be, and she looked awfully young. "We'll get you signed up in a jiffy!" Grasping his arm firmly, she drug Kael back into the testing room of the Guild, every hall came with a Mana gauge and a Level Reader that helped with Class assignment and Ranking.
