Chapter 8 - Life

I'm awaken to birds chirping. As I open my eyes I'm greeted by the glow of the leaves by the setting sun. Am I dead? I go to set up, instantly pain shoots through my spine and sides. 'Nope, we're alive as the pain can tells us. Plus I'm still here.' Claude says in an unusual happy tone. Where are we? I ignore the pain and stood up. I shake the grass and dirt out of my fur. I painfully walk as I gather my bearings.

I soon reach a very familiar spot. The cliff, Claude do you know how far we walked? 'Yea about a mile or so.' How is that possible, I was falling. Then I wake up a mile away from where I fell. 'I'm trying to figure that one out, as well as that wonderful scent.' What scent? 'Take a sniff and find out.' I sniff around and the most mouth watering scent hits my nose. It was of fresh peaches with a mix of ash. Ash, why did ash smell good? 'How should I know?'

We should probably get back to the pack house. I turn and run to the pack house. Fortunately the pain dulled down a bit. The pack house comes into view. I run up the house and shift. Walking up the stairs and opening the front door. I'm greeted by the sound of crying. "My poor pup. He was so young." I know that voice anywhere. Mom, I need to show them I'm not dead. I walk looking for them. Turns out that they all were in the living room.

Everyone looks awful. Shouldn't they have realized that they are still connected to me. 'They probably too buried in grief to realize that.' Claude says sounding like himself again. I walk into the room, no one turn to look at me. They just continue to cry. "Man, how long was I gone for?" I ask trying to get their attention which did the opposite. Mom starts crying harder. "It's like I can still hear him." Agh, I'm right here. 'Try releasing your Alpha presence so they can tell that you're here.' I release it and instantly everyone freezes as it wraps around them.

'I think you have their attention now.' Claude says as he retreats to the back of my mind. "I don't know how but I'm alive and woke up a mile from the cliff." Everyone just stares at me. "Mitchell, just how long was I gone?" Mitchell straightens and looks at the clock. "About three hours, Alpha." Ok that's a pretty long time to be out cold. 'Yes enough time that our presence was week enough for them not to feel it.' Claude says with a yawn. Arms pull me into a hug. "You're alive. My puppy is alive." I return her hug.

"How are you, I saw you fly off the cliff." I turn towards Mitchell. "Like I said, I woke up a mile away from the cliff. I have no idea how I got there." I look out the window and see the sun has gone down. I turn and look at the time it was nine thirty. "I'm going to go to bed. Good night everyone." They say good night as I walk away. I walk to my elevator, I scan my hand and the doors open. I walk in and click my floor.

Once on my floor the open to my office. I walk through my office and open the door to the hallway. I walk to the end of it to my bedroom. I go in and close the door behind me. I walk to my bathroom and take a shower. After my shower I put on pj pants on and climb into bed. "Come to the place you awoke. I'll be there when the sun is at it's highest." A soft whisper of the enchanting voice, I heard on my birthday.

I sit up fully awake. 'Asland what's wrong?' Claude asks worry in his voice. Wings, before I passed out I heard wings. 'Oh, that's right I remember hearing the wings as well.' Do you think it was the reason I'm alive? 'Maybe but we didn't see what...' Claude stops in mid-sentence. What's wrong? 'The voice last night told us to go to the place we woke up at noon.' I jump out of my bed and look at the time. It's six in the morning. Agh this is going to be a long day.

I change into some blue jeans and a white T-shirt. I walk into my office to do some paperwork. I sit down on my desk chair and pull out my phone. I set an alarm for eleven forty-five. As I'm read and signing documents I hear my elevator doors opening. I look up and see mom exiting the elevator. "Oh you're wake. You normally don't wake up until eight." I look at the time is seven forty. I've been signing papers for almost two hours. "Well breakfast is done if you want to come down and eat.

I'm about to answer, but my stomach beats me to it. I get up and follow mom into the elevator. She clicks on the second floor button. We have two kitchens. The main kitchen on the second floor and the kitchen on my floor. I found a love for cooking when I was thirteen. Since I was fifteen I ate breakfast with the pack, made lunch for school, and dinner for me and my family.

After breakfast I play the Xbox with Mitchell. Soon my phone alarm goes off. I jump off the couch. "Sorry, I got to go." I race out of the door. "Dude, what about the game?!" Mitchell calls out. "Have John finish for me." I mind link him. Once outside I shift and race to the spot. When I reach the spot I shift back, I quickly pulled on the sweat pants the was in the bush near by. I look around the meadow. It was empty no one was there. Maybe I just imagine the voice. Just then a sound of an eagle greets my ears. I look up and see the most beautiful sight ever.
