"I would just give up right now."
I was very hungry and was hastily trying to make it to the supermarket to get something to cook with the little I had.
It was barely 1:00 pm and the road wasn't as busy as in the early morning or late nights.
I had vegetables and rice in mind because I knew the money I had could cover that and left a little bit of change.
I lived with my mother in a little house near the projects I had two friends Jenna and Sabrina we spend a lot of time together since it was now summertime and school was out.
We finish high school and should be moving on to something further but we did not have college money nor were quite eligible to work we were all just sixteen going on seventeen.
"Hey, ma want a ride?" A guy inquired he had nice white teeth a nice caramel face and a creepy demeanor as he looked at me through the window of his black car I decided to just walk I wasn't car crazy but this car was cute.
I continued walking with one aim and that was to get to the grocery store in time so that mom could get something to eat when she got home.
I walked a little faster checking the time on my phone as the car followed me this was getting a bit scary because if I wanted a ride I would've been taken the offer.
"Come on princess it's only a ride i'm going to a mall and these lonely streets will harm you," he said
I continued walking not even looking at who the guy was and what was his deal still barely getting a good glimpse at him.
I could've taken the bus to the supermarket but that would result in us having less to eat so I walked it was a far walk but i'm walking.
I don't need to get comfortable with some stranger giving me a ride because tomorrow when I hustle some money again I'll have to walk so what's the difference might as well walk every so I can get used to it.
The car drove off and I continued walking I was upset that I left my earphones but it is what it is.
Fifteen minutes later I got to the supermarket and got what I wanted fast this could maybe serve us for two to three days so that was good.
My mother was a little waitress in a little restaurant near the hood it wasn't fancy and it didn't pay well but it got things done around the house.
I wasn't eligible for a summer job so I spent time with my male friends; Max and Jay.
Max and Jay are both eighteen and we attended the same school they are friends with me and my friends but I was the one closest to them.
In the days I'll go on the blocks with them and help them sell all different types of drugs in different packs with different weights.
It was amazing they made quick money and sometimes give me a cut without me doing anything.
Most of the time I sort the drugs out for them by weight and what type of drugs it is.
Other times I help them sell it to the people that come to them while they handled their driving customers.
I sold driving customers before but most of them. can't be trusted so it was best I stay away while they handled the big guns. Literally
I finally made it home and decided that I'll hurry and cook then head out to the blocks with the boys.
"Max and Jay" I shouted as I approached the block that I left them on earlier.
I didn't see them maybe they switch block, they couldn't even update a sister though.
I hated when they do this I sent them a message and stood in the same place waiting for them I didn't like circling blocks without them because it gets real dangerous around her and other corner boys are working for other plugs.
They mostly came around when we moved because they knew we locked these blocks they sell when we move but we have customers who are loyal to us and will never make a bad buy.
"Oh look what we have here" I heard as I looked at my phone waiting for the guys to text back.
I looked up and it was the same car guy from earlier that offered a ride.
"Are you following me?" I implored knowing this guy must be kidding.
"No but can I have your number," he asked and I walked off going around the block.
I've never had a boyfriend or any make friends besides Max and Jay so it was going to stay that way.
