Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Kayda was on the floor when she woke up. She didn't recognise the surroundings, nor could she remember how she got there. Pulling herself up, she began to make her way around the whole apartment. from the passage where she lay, she walked straight into an open-plan lounge and kitchen. the room lit up with a dim light as soon as she entered. The place seemed to contradict itself, bland deco yet furnished with an expensive black leather lounge suite and burgundy carpets. The kitchen was flawless with dark marble counters and an array of knives on display, one of which she slipped up the sleeve of her loose-fitting, shoulder free pullover. She could tell from the window that she was high up and so an escape would not be possible.

Careful not to make a sound she moved towards the back of the lounge, to a door and peered inside to see a bedroom, richly furnished with dark silks. Here the light did not automatically turn on, but she could tell that the room was empty. With slightly less care, she made her way across to darkened room and pushed open a door at the far side. flicking on the light, she found herself looking at a large bathroom, equipped with both a shower and tub larger than she had ever seen.

Returning to where she had started, she tried the door she assumed led outside. It was far more complexly locked that anything she could pick. Her only option would be to make herself look comfortable until whoever lived there came back. Hopefully they were not holding her there and she could then leave.

She made her way back to the living room, carelessly kicking off her worn-out shoes alone the way. Making herself as comfortable as she could she waited. She waited for a long time, a few hours if not more. When the click from the door came, she was dazed, almost asleep. The shock made her jump, falling from the spot she had sat to the even softer carpet.

Instinctively her body got ready for the fight, in her mind, she could feel the "other" trying to surface. She was fighting to remain conscious, at least long enough to see her captor. She couldn't risk hurting another potentially innocent person.

Eyes locked at the door, body frozen, she watched the man come inside. Her first impression was a tall, dark-haired man. He was soaked through to the bone, a tattoo peeked out the cuff of his right sleeve. He didn't seem to pay any attention to her, or even notice her, at least not until he had tripped over her shoes. Which made Kayda struggle to take any of the events seriously, despite how dire they probably were.
