I was born in the city of Pomus to a woman named Angela Johnston. My name given to me at birth was Miguel Johnston. My mom made my life easy, spoiling me with everything money could buy. One day I was playing video games, when my mom suddenly ran into the house slamming the door behind. She was muttering about something being impossible. She quickly came back to her senses and rushed over to me, while yelling at me to get up because we were leaving. I followed her to the front door while complaining about how it was 2 in the morning and that I didn't even have my shoes on yet.
Pomus was a small and quiet town in the farthest stretch of the Essterac continent, where we had been living since I was born. When night fell few lights could be seen in the distance along with the outlines of scattered houses. Although there were limited lights the ground would illuminate far brighter than any city street, from the reflections of the stars in the night sky making it appear as though it were a sea of stars.
I thought my mom had seen something like a shooting star, which would have been impossible because I didn't hear about it on the news but she said nothing as she opened the front door to our house. Once outside I was blinded by an extremely bright light shining down on us from the sky, the sounds of propellers and engines flooded the night.
I lifted my arm to shield my eyes and noticed several large trucks parked in front of us with machine guns mounted on top. Men with black suits and armored vests stood in scattered formations each equipped with large caliber assault rifles. I instantly shot a look at my mom who had already noticed way before me what was going on. She glanced down at me and yelled duck while grabbing me with one hand as she raised the other, I was amazed at the sight.
A large vehicle appeared in front of us blocking the bright light from above. Loud bursts of pops and bangs started to sound from the opposite side of the vehicle as the soldiers began to fire their weapons. Within less than a few seconds the light had begun to circle the side of the vehicle but just as I was about to panic my mom yanked me into a dark room.
I was clueless as to where we were but before I could open my mouth to ask monitor screens started to flash on around me. My mom told me the vehicle we were in was very special because we could drive and shoot simultaneously. "sounds an awful lot like a tank," I blurted out. She patted me on the head and said "That's because it is a tank." "How the heck did you-," I started to ask but she covered my mouth and began to point at levers, while explaining which to use for driving as well as which buttons to push for weapons. "If I say switch to the secondary machine gun push this and if I say primary canon push that," she said. I sat in the driver's seat without asking too many questions after her explanation and got ready to drive. "Once you see the light disappear hit the gas," she shouted. Then without warning a loud bang sounded and suddenly the light moved off the tank, revealing the helicopter that had been supporting it. There was a bright flash then it exploded into a cloud of orange and red flames.
As if my body knew I would choke I suddenly started moving the vehicle before realizing it. My mom's explanation and knowledge led me to believe she had done this before, while I on the other hand was using the knowledge I just gained to maneuver through rockets and armored trucks. "Switch to the secondary machine gun," she yelled. I pushed the button just as she had instructed before but nothing seemed to happen, as if already knowing something was wrong she yelled to switch seats with her. "When I say shoot you press the trigger on this joystick after aiming at your target, they're explosive rounds so be careful not to miss too many times or civilians could die!" she said as we swapped seats. "Shoot the helicopter they have an RPG!" she yelled. I quickly aimed at the helicopter and fired off three rounds, doom-doom-doom causing it to explode. "Watch out!" I yelled as the helicopter's remains landed directly in front of our path. With barely enough time to doge, my mom swerved around the wreckage causing me to fall out of the seat and hit my head.
I lost consciousness!!!
