"I get it, the marriage is necessary....but...I think we must give time to think this over.... at least to understand each other better...what do you say?
"Then Miss Xiao.....will you go out on a date with me?"
The unpredictable words of Mo Fengshi sent butterflies into her stomach. She wasn't prepared to hear something like that.
In dilemma of what to say next, she refused to look back at him by placing small pieces of pancakes he gave her inside her mouth, keeping her silence until they were finished.
Pancakes are her favourite, but hopelessly, she wasn't in a condition to suspect anything about how her contractual fiancè figured that out, or was it a pure coincidence.
'Dating...? A minute ago he was so adamant to get married, ....and now he turned aside the marriage deal and want to Date instead!
Is he really thinking that a Date with him can change anything?' her eyes were struggling to even make a slight glance at his direction.
The ambient lighting of the decor befalling upon her face, gave a tiny revelation of the overwhelmed expression she made upon hearing about the Date proposal.
Her milky white skin glowed under the silvery sweat pouring out of her neck. Mo Fengshi caught a hazy glimpse of that shimmer, unable to keep his eyes away from them, getting mesmerized for a second.
His eyes moved upwards in attempt to explore the delicate features of her small radiant face as if he haven't had seen anything this attractive in his life.
He had a conception about women from rich family that they just chase after money and power. Practically he hated 'attention seeking women'.
So why the Xiao heiress is becoming an exception to his misconception.
He couldn't afford himself getting drawn towards her ignorance and obvious rejection.
'You must be questioning my sanity but, one thing I will make sure this time, as I can't afford to lose you....again..., I'll make you mine!' he averted his gaze from her face.
It was getting impossible for him to control his emotions, the racing beat of his heart could be pulsated under her fingertips if she attempts to touch him. It was pounding louder enough, to make him afraid, if she gets the jist of it in the sweet peaceful silence they were maintaining till now.
'I must not get carried away by my emotions again!' he lowered down his head, as if one more glance of her silhouette... and he would be done for the day.
"What date...is there anything else....why the date?" she mumbled, but Mo Fengshi's sharp senses caught her words.
"Allow me to explain it better, Miss Xiao..!" he said, clearing his throat.
"I have to agree that it's rather a sudden and concealed decision on my part, even your assessment on our marriage is understandable. My point is,....if you've decided to give it a chance, I would gladly tell you more about 'Me'. In the similar accord, I am willing to know more about you as well, in an attempt to make this contract work like a normal marriage, rather than a pressurized decision of our parents."
His eyes spoke confidence but still not ready to meet hers. The perfection in front of him, was probably the cause, that's making his gaze wander at every possible direction, except hers.
Xiao Jane, too, was afraid to meet his gaze. She realised her heart was pounding like hell for a while. His eyes were full of attitude and charm when she encountered them for the first time, but now that she caught them again, they were hiding an emotion incomprehensible to her mind. Maybe it was regret, or pain, or maybe anger.
She knew that something was off about him from the start, but after listening to his words.... which seemed a little sincere than any other words he had said till now, weakened her will to reject his offer.
It was only eleven of late morning, but the sky gradually inked with black clouds. The glass windows slowly got covered with tiny droplets of downpour in a rhombic pattern.
The light showers of rain created a chill in the air, intensifying the interior decor of the restaurant.
She realized her eyes were browsing the flawless jawline of Mo Fengshi leading her gaze to fall upon his perfectly smooth and provocative lips.
Xiao Jane had dated someone years ago, but to her surprise, she never once got to kiss him. Nor that she didn't got the chance, but maybe she felt too naive to explore this side of the relationship. Especially with a guy who was more like a best friend to her, rather than a boyfriend. Actually.... she never felt to do so.
To her dismay, looking into the alluring countenance of the man sitting in front of her, was giving her the ideas she would never ever recommend to others.
'I must be crazy...stop stealing glances on him! Just stop it already Xiao Jane!'
Seeing her quiet, Mo Fengshi chuckled.
"Ahem! Miss Xiao..... don't get too nervous!..I simply meant that if we manage to meet each other.....some more times, before taking crucial decisions, will aid our understanding effectively. And as for company matters, you must be aware that there's no way a person out of the family can sit at the top and order the system unless things go awry. And if I have taken the responsibility to prevent that .... it's necessary for me to be a part of your family.....to be a part of your life-!" he stopped, realising his words were going beyond what he intended to say.
*cough! cough!*
"Sorry it's getting, I mean the weather is getting cold. So...I was just explaining the situation and circumstances.... thats it!"
Mo Fengshi never cared what others would think of him, but right now, his conscience was not giving him the permission to mess up in front of Xiao Jane. Clearly not in front of her.
"Oh- Okay! I do understand!" she said, reflecting upon his words.
The rainfall was still light, not enough to drench anyone in it's lap.
"Well.... I would like to know if you are considering my idea of Date or not!" he regained his composure, took another bite of the pancake, since Xiao Jane had already finished hers before him. Atleast it would make him less vulnerable at that moment.

In meantime, Song Lin started to think what she can do in that situation she's stuck in.
'This will not do.....I really have to use my fiesty brain! I should call her, it would seem normal right!' Song Lin, totally lost in track of time, finally decided to call Xiao Jane.
The man sitting there seemed lost in thought too.
'It's my chance! He can't question me on this!'
She grabbed her phone slowly, excused herself towards lady's room and dialled the first number on her Favorites.
*Ring ...Ring....*
The awkwardness between the two got saved by the vibrating phone of Xiao Jane.
"Umm....Excuse me...I have to take it real quick..." as she excused herself and stormed directly towards lady's restroom.
They met inside the restroom.
"Thank God you called Lin Lin, I was afraid when I didn't get to hear from you, much less, to see you!" She leaned on Song Lin, her breath running out.
"It's fine girl! Relax and inform me of the situation!" she whispered making sure there's no one else in the restroom who could hear her. To her ignorance, they were the only ladies in the whole floor.
"Listen he....he asked me out on a Date!" her voice contained excitement, anxiousness and doubt, all at the same time.
"He did what....?" Song Lin almost choked on her words for a second.
'Of every assumption I made of the resulting consequences, I never expected him to ask her on a Date... when he already knows that this marriage can make Xiao Jane his regardless.'
"Well.... any normal girl would say things like 'its kinda romantic' but I have my doubts and my mind can't process them further." she gave her honest opinion.
"It's not about being romantic, I, too, can feel something is off about him for sure!" expressing her concerns, she looked at Song Lin.
"Well if you want to know what's ON and What's OFF about him,.....you should accept this offer. I say , go grab this Date!"
"But Lin Lin, how can I be so sure that he's not gonna murder me or sell me to some mafia mobs or anything else!" her tone became dramatic.
"Speak for the devil..., there's someone sitting at my table, been giving me the smile and smirks I never asked for and....and if for getting murdered, I think I am the one, who can't make it out alive, if I act a bit more suspicious here!"
Her eyes sank, remembering the terror of being at constant glare of the Satan like man.
"Oh I remembered, who is he? What's his name and what's he doing at your table?" she asked turning the wrist watch in her hands.
"Uhh....he?....Oh God!...I didn't ask for his name yet! What was I even doing!!"
Xiao Jane stared at her foolishly. This is certainly something she can expect from Song Lin.
