After a long night of talking to Dad and enjoying time together at last, it was time for Shawn's and I to sleep. Of course I didn't have a bed time anymore but I was still exhausted from everything that happened today but at the same time I didn't want to leave Dad's side. I stayed up five hours more then my brother but the last question of the night I could tell hurt my dad.
"Are you going back?"
"What?" he asked back as I got up off the couch.
"Are you going to leave us again, like you do every time?"
It took him a second but he finally replied just as I was almost out of the living room.
"No, Sabina. I'm not leaving this time," he smiled. I smiled to myself and went up to my room to sleep.
The next day
It started out just like any other day, but no, it didn't stay that way. First we got some idiot at our door telling us that we can go to an underground place called Vault 111. (but I didn't know what that meant, and Mom seem kinda annoyed with him.) He said he was from a corporation called "Vault Tec". Soon after that man left, it all began. Mom called me into the living room. I ran in the room and watched the TV. It said that the people who surrendered during the war were planning to bomb the U.S. My family lived in Boston, Massachusetts, closed to where they were bombing. Dad picked up Shawn and in a panic, gave him to Mom, because he was to slow to run on his own. We ran outside and saw all the neighbors packing their stuff to leave. We were already out the door and didn't want to waste time getting our stuff. We ran to Vault 111 and the guards let us through the gate. The platform to the entrance was at the top of the hill and was being guarded by soldiers. We got to the top of the hill and stood on the large platform. Right then a giant nuke fell and almost killed us all! Shawn looked like he was going to cry a river, so Mom covered his ears. The Vault door quickly closed as the nukes blast was about to hit us. When we got into the Vault, Mom asked me if I was okay, but I didn't really know what to say. I told her, "I-I think so, are you?"
"I don't really know either honey, all I know is that the world is no longer a perfect place, not like it ever was," We stepped inside and a lady at the front gave us a suit that had 111 on it. A doctor arrived shortly after. We had to follow him down the cold hallway and he told us to get in a wired frozen chair thing and put on our suits, so I did. This place looked sketchy and I could tell Mom and Dad thought the same thing. The chair was huge and hard to climb into but I did the best I could. I was only gonna be in there for a few minutes anyway (or so i thought).
