Chapter 36: cooking with a friend
✴Isabella Marciano✴
If only Kon knew how stupid I am in real life. Those reports he had on me are just papers. Nothing in there makes me who I am.
I've never bragged about anything I was good at, if I was any of those things, my parents and siblings should've been alive. They would have never gotten in that. They would still be here.
'''zup bitch'' the fake head walked inside my room with a nude patch on her temple. She wears a grimace on her pretty face, seizing me up, sauntering like a pageant contestant in her purple midi dress with little white flower lining. Her lengthy fair leg peeking through the long opening of her dress as she took each step.
''I'm gonna get back at you for this.'' she smiled innocently. What a cunning bitch she is. I like her.
Propping myself up on the bed, I leaned my back on the headboard and matched her fake gesture. ''We'll see about that.''
Her perfectly plucked brows twitched, clearly annoyed by my response. ''Hmmm…'' he raised her fingernails in her face, scrutinizing them. ''Maybe if you'll be nice for a day, I might let you see that annoying bald Italian.''
I snorted in response. John was anything but annoying. He's the sweetest person in the whole world, ''I can make pasta for you.''
Her striking sage green hues lit up, ''what pasta?''
I sham looking thoughtful, ''Vesuvio al Ragù di Salsiccia, I can make that.''
She rubbed her hands together, her eyes brightening up like a kid on Christmas. ''I love Italian - food and men.''
That had me giggling, ''sure. Let me make one for you.''
~an hour and an eternity of chopping and burnt fingers later~
I was fuming, my hands were balled into a tight fist, controlling myself from killing these men inside the kitchen.
Two dark hair dude came barging, both holding 10-pound fire extinguishers in their hands, and aimed it at my face.
Cham beside me was still wiping her face off of the fluffy cream foam from the fire extinguisher. She was cursing in five different languages, most of them sounded incoherent but I understand a few.
I know I suck at cooking, it must be my curse but I tried being nice to Cham.
''What kind of Italian doesn't know how to cook a simple pasta dish?!'' the ungrateful bitch rant out. ''I told you guys she's fake Isabella. She can't even boil pasta properly.''
''Hey!'' I pushed her shoulders, ''that's below the belt.''
''What the hell happened here?'' Kon's voice boomed from the kitchen entrance. I felt my cheeks heating up, I can't even look at him in the eyes.
This is so humiliating. I knew being nice was never my forte, I tried, that counts right?
''Isabella'' Kon called my attention. I must look like a garden gnome dressed in shorts and a shirt with an apron covered in foam right now. ''Cham.'' he sounded like a father scolding children for playing with fire.
''She did this, she should clean this mess up. Ugh!'' Cham stomped out of the kitchen, leaving me to Kon's scrutinizing gaze.
Kon nodded to the guys who set off the fire extinguisher at me earlier. I don't know them but I was hoping they wouldn't leave me alone with Kon right now - they did.
Kon was wearing his casual clothes this morning, a white henley paired with black jeans. His white old skool shoes were digging through the thick foam on the floor as he sauntered to check the damage I had created.
''What were you trying to make?'' he sounded anything but mad.
I swallowed hard to moisten my drying throat, ''Vesuvio al Ragù di Salsiccia. I was trying to be nice to her so that she'll take me to see John.''
Kon chuckled light, holding the pan of burnt onions, garlic, and tomatoes, placing it gently on the sink. He cleaned the kitchen counter while I stood there awkwardly.
The two guys from earlier came back with a bucket of water, soap, and mop. They moved pretty quickly and soon the chaotic kitchen was once again clean. The only remaining evidence of the disaster I did was myself. I was still covered in white foam.
''You can see John whenever you want,'' Kon leaned his back on the counter. The huge pristine kitchen of this mansion suddenly felt so small, the walls felt like they moved closer to each other, suffocating me.
''That bitch tricked me,'' I realize what she had done. They read my file, and she knew I can't cook. That's why she was so excited when I said I'd cook for her. I'll get back at her for this.
Kon chuckled, ''go and clean up. I'll make something for you.''
I looked up to him, locking eyes with him after last night's conversation. How can I hate someone so good looking as him? My knees go weak just by his intense stare.
Biting my lip, I looked down at the tip of my shoes. ''You don't have to.''
He took away the distance between us with one step. We were suddenly standing toe to toe. His intense gaze lit my face on fire.
''What are you doing?'' I leaned my face away from him, the butterflies in my tummy danced with the way his scent was evading my senses.
He poked the tip of my nose, raising his forefinger in front of my face. ''Why do you still look pretty with this white sticky thing in your face?''
''Huh?''
Kon straightened up, clearing his throat comically. ''Go and clean up. I'll take you to John after breakfast.''
I obeyed without making a fuss about him ordering me around. While I was taking my second shower for the day, I was thinking deeply about these weird feelings I have for Kon.
He can't be trusted. I know this by now, I might be stupid but I learn from my mistakes - barely.
Me and him, never gonna happen.
