Chapter 27: Unexpected

*

*Isabella Marciano*

Kon led me to his place and called some people, 'backups' he said but all I wanted to do was go in that warehouse and get John back. Save him and disappear as we did before, start over and do things differently.

Who knows if Damien already informed Santi about my whereabouts. I shouldn't have trusted that old man. He was cunning and selfish, having him on our side is an advantage but we know the risk, yet we took it.

How will I continue this plan if in the first phase I'm already failing? I'm about to lose the man who stood as my father all these years.

''...we'll meet you there... Yeah…'' Kon ended the call and gave me a sideway glance.

He disappeared through a black door and came out holding a black duffle bag. His button-up shirt was now topped with a black hooded jacket. He handed me a change of clothing, all girl's clothes. A black shirt, jeans, and a black hooded jacket just like his.

I looked at him questioningly as I studied the clothes he was holding out for me. Are those from Morgana? I won't wear anything that bitch touched.

''I bought a change of clothing for you, Isabella'' Kon's cheeks were tainted crimson. He's blushing. How cute. But I didn't give in that easily. ''Check it, the tags are still on. You can choose from my closet if you want.''

I shook my head, fighting the smile from crawling on my lips. ''You bought clothes for me?''

Kon held my hand, dropping the duffle bag above the coffee table, and guided me inside the black door where he disappeared earlier.

His room was just like the one in Nafpaktos, black and white linen hugs his bed and the glass walls give a pristine view of the city. Beige and gray curtains drape half of the glass wall few bookshelves adorn the sides. He opened another door which led to his walk-in closet. One side holds his dress shirts, color-coordinated from light to dark, and adjacent to it holds his jackets from suit to biker jackets.

I was taken aback when my eyes landed on the side with women's clothing. From shirts to dress to shorts and pants. Jackets and shoes. ''Are those for me?''

His flushed cheeks were my answer. ''Wow.'' he gave half of his closet to me, for the clothes, he's not sure I'll be able to wear. This man is crazy.

''I'm sorry. I'm not sure if you'll like one or two so I bought a bit of everything online.'' He gave my hand a little squeeze.

''Uhm… anything is fine. As long as it covers what needs to be covered'' I leaned closer to him, allowing his warmth to embrace me and I heard him let out a breath of relief.

''You can change here while I prepare everything we need,'' after I agreed with him, I went to the ensuite bathroom and splashed my face with cold water.

Get your head out of the gutter Isabella. Kon can't be a distraction. Saving John is the top priority.

After giving myself a little pep talk in the bathroom like an insane woman, I wore the clothes Kon first handed to me and took a black Chuck Taylor's from the set of shoes he - also - bought for me and tied my hair up in a neat ponytail.

I found Kon waiting for me in the living room and he eyed me up and down before his eyes landed back on my face, on my lips especially.

He can feel it, I see it in the darkening of his silver-grey eyes. The arousal of an electric feeling growing in my belly is still there, waiting to be satisfied which his demeanor mirrors.

''Let's go?'' I asked, breaking the lust filling his eyes while gawking at my lips.

He cleared his throat and stood up from the couch, he passed me a 9mm Glock 43.

''Don't you have a heavier ammo than this?'' I asked annoyed. It's not that I have something against Glock 43, I loved the feel of this gun in my hands but we're going on a war. I'll need an assault rifle.

''We do'' he raised his duffle bag, ''it's a gift.''

''Oh,'' checking out the gun in my hand, my name was engraved on the barrel in cursive writing. 'My Isabella'. he got this done in that short span of time? ''Thank you.''

He smiled at me, looped his arm around my waist, and pulled me closer, leaning his forehead against mine. ''eísai tóso ómorfi, agápi mou'' he traced my cheeks with the back of his free hand. His silver-gray eyes took my features in before closing in the small distance between our lips. His lips were gently caressing mine, tasting, nipping, and licking, asking me to give him entrance. (you are so beautiful, my love)

I moaned in his mouth, drowning in his sweet minty tastes. His groan sounded from deep within his throat when my tongue dueled for dominance with his rugged assault. I held onto his shoulders, tracing his flexing muscles until my hands reached the back of his neck, my thumb tracing his jaw.

''Kon…'' this is not the time for this. ''We have to stop.''

''I know…'' he pecked my lips once more. ''Let's get out of here.''

I thank the heavens when we were finally inside the confinement of his car. Kon can turn my brain gooey with just his lips. Although I wanted to forget all my problems, my demons, I still owe John. his safety comes first. I won't cower away and playhouse with Kon while he's out there, in the hands of our enemies.

The drive to the warehouse took fifteen minutes, the place was secluded, a perfect place for an ambush.

Kon parked his car just two hundred meters away from the target area. He checked his phone before unlocking the car. The night was starless yet the moon shines brightly. The faint grayish light it showered us was enough for Kon to assemble an AK 47 and hands it to me.

Checking the magazine of the assault rifle, Kon got himself a Bushmaster ACR 3.

''Why do you get that and I get this?'' I raised the AK 47 in the air.

'Because I'm going in first'' Kon murmured, securing a bulletproof vest over himself and handed me one to wear. I hate bulletproof vests, it's suffocating and it slows me down. Shaking my head, Kon manages to put it on me with ease. ''No arguing, agápi mou.''

''Why are you helping me?'' Instead of arguing, I tried to pry information from him. ''Have you considered the idea that your father might be the one who took John, right?'' his hand stopped strapping the vest on me.
