"Okay, class. Sit down."
All of them sat down in a heartbeat, ready to listen to my lecture.
"As you saw earlier, I used a type of magic that cannot be used and cannot be learned in this era in other words, Lost Magic. The question is, are lost magic really lost? No. Lost magic cannot be used in this era because people nowadays control very little magic power."
"Very little magic power? What do you mean, Sir?"
Elise asked me a question, baffled to what I really mean yet, I mean it literally.
"As you heard, very little magic power. This is the star section right? That means you can control your magic power efficiently, resulting in being able to cast a group spell, Prison Fire. The problem is, you control little amount of what really magic power you have which is why your Prison Fire was broken by my Flame."
"So, how can we control our magic power?"
Everyone in the classroom asked.
"Meditate every day for 30 minutes, that'll help you control your magic power. To help you control your magic power even more, we will have a mock battle every day. Rest assured for the 30 of you will only be fighting. I will divide the class in half randomly. You must feel the very danger of losing your life for your magic to improve. Emotions drive magic power to become stronger. "
I grabbed the magic book they're using for their everyday class.
"If you only do what this silly book says, you all will never really know your true potential."
I threw the book in the trash can.
"We will now discuss lost magic."
Their attention become much focused than earlier.
"Fountain of Life, Rewind, Rejuvenate, Hell Flame, Teleportation, Freeze and so many more like this are lost magic. They were once used by the ancient civilization. They offer big help but they also take something in return. That's what lost magic is. Cannot be learned my ass. They just prohibit you to learn such magic. For example the spell Rejuvenate resurrects a person from the dead but in return, the person who used Rejuvenate cannot be resurrected and another one, the spell Freeze; It will stop the flow of time as long as it needs but in return, it will also stop the aging process of the user resulting in becoming immortal. Lost magic can help us, yes, but you should fear what it would take something in return."
"Teacher, what happened to you when you used Fountain of Life?"
Adelle asked me the question I do not want to answer.
"I don't really want to answer that question."
"But, we want to know!"
The whole class shouted in unison.
"Okay! Okay! I'll tell you!"
The quietness stirs again as they focus their attention on what my answer would be.
"Fountain of Life is a wide-area healing spell. Its range depends on the magic power of the user. The range of the spell earlier covered the whole arena to heal everyone inside. The consequence of using this spell is you'll feel all the pain of those you've healed 150 times of what the actual pain is."
I told them the truth and I was swarmed up by the worry of my students.
"Teacher, are you okay now?"
"Does it still hurts?"
Like a child worrying for their parents, class 1-1 cheered me up.
"Don't worry, I cast a numbing spell on me which is why I didn't feel any pain."
Except there's no such spell. I just don't want them to worry too much.
Amelia, however, was dissatisfied with my answer.
"Class, that's all for today. I want you to rest early and prepare for tomorrow's mock battle. Your group assignment will be sent by my familiar."
"Okay, Sir Arthur! Goodbye!"
They greeted in unison.
All of them left except Amelia.
"Mongrel, can we talk?"
What is this pride of still calling me mongrel?! I have to discipline this spoiled brat some time.
