Chapter 1 - Darkness

At first there was nothing. No light or sound, just the darkness. There wasn't warmth or cold.

Then I started to feel something. A gentle nudge from something warm. "What was that?" I thought to myself. Then it nudged me again and I started to wiggle around to get away from whatever was disturbing me. "Oomf," escaped my lips as I bumped my face into something warm.

I couldn't tell what it was but I was going to find out. I started to investigate it and as I was nuzzling it with my mouth I found something. It was felt weird so I decided to bite it and figured out what it was. "FOOD!" I hadn't realized that I was hungry but now that I found food nothing was going to take it from me.

As I nursed I couldn't help but enjoy the sweet taste and the sensation of the warm milk filling my stomach. After I had eaten my fill I started to feel drained and soon enough I succumbed to the warm fuzzy sensation of falling asleep.

I didn't know how long it had been when I woke up but I knew that I was hungry. I started to search for my mother but I couldn't feel her warmth. I wiggled around trying to find her but it felt useless. "Where is she?" I thought to myself as I continued to search on my quest for food.

Suddenly the ground started to shake underneath me as someone walked with heavy footsteps towards me. "Food?" I thought to myself as I felt something brush up against me. All of a sudden I felt something tighten around my body and I was suddenly lifted off the ground.

I wiggled as I panicked at the sudden loss of contact with the ground. "Put me down!" I thought as I whined as loud as I could. I just had to hope my mother could hear since I had no way to tell exactly how loud I was.

I sucked air in as suddenly I was exposed to a gust of cold wind. I started to shiver as whoever was holding me put me down. I wiggled around, unsure of what was going on. After a couple minutes of wiggling around on the ground a familiar scent wafted into my nose and I was picked up again. My mother held me for a short while before she started to move.

She started to run and after a little while I drifted off to sleep.
