Chapter 21 - Lotus and Damien's Show

As the glistening sun shines onto the young princess's tall hair, her hair suddenly turns dark. Completely contrasting what one would think to see under the sun.

"Who are you?"

The guards immediately point their swords at her in fright and loyalty. It was too creepy of an event. If the sheltered princess, who has the best security in the entire Kingdom because of the King, was replaced, then this would be the worst event ever. The enemy is too overpowered!

The demand brings her back to reality. As she lifts her head, she unintentionally sees her reflection on the glass window.

'Huh? Isn't this my appearance in my previous life?'

Slowly, Violetta turns to the crowd of harsh looking people, deliberately showing her bewilderment, causing the knights to hesitate.

'Am I exposed?'

A moment of silence fills the air. The frightened looks of the knights, the scared looks of the servants, and Violetta's calm but bewildered look.

"Ok, stop," a soft voice fills the air of silence.

"Your highness," the knights reluctantly and hesitantly lower their weapons, but still kept on guard.

They turn to the Queen in question and doubt, utterly confusion.

"This... is the princess… I should've known..."

An old maid also walks up front, "When the princess was young, we had a mage come treat her because of her unstable condition. This caused her hair to turn blonde."

"Yes, this is her real appearance. The seal has broken, unfortunately. There will be troubles arising. Please take care, my darling," she speaks slowly, in thought.

"Why didn't they come treat me again, since it's worn off?" asks Violetta.

The Queen sighs, "Unfortunately, the spell could only be used once. We have to deal with the upcoming problems ourselves."

Then, she tilts her head down. Tears trickle down her cheek, " … and now you're leaving us, how are we supposed to help?"

Violetta hugs her mother, "Mother, don't worry about me. I've grown up, I will protect myself. I also have my trusted maids that I grew up with. I'll be fine."

She gives a comforting smile to her mother. The scene moves the hearts of those around and break into tears, even the strict knights.

The Queen and her innocent princess part ways, waving in sorrow, happiness, and hope.

"Mother! Don't worry about me, I'll be fine! Take care of yourself!"

The Queen wipes her tears with her handkerchief and waves back.

Violetta gives a smile as the sad, yet excited daughter.

They arrive at the Jun Palace by mid-afternoon.

The palace gives Violetta some familiar vibes. The red tiled roofs, gates and copper handles for knocking. The maids all gathered by the side, wearing long dresses, not the trendy, classic black dress, white apron, but dull colored cloth. They tie their hair in simple buns and ponytails.

In the center of the palace doorway is a young, muscular man dressed in purple and gold, holding a young woman in white while greeting Violetta.

The young Emperor's hair color looks quite similar to Claude, except being dimmer. He is quite muscular though, and that really does not fit the emperor robe style. Needless to say, his looks would never be able to be compared to that perfectly proportioned demidog.

The woman, assumed to be Concubine Lotus, has blond hair, blue eyes, and acting like a pitiful lovesick, pure pet.

'I've got to admit, her acting is quite remarkable,' Violetta praises, amused.

"Princess Violetta Cordova greets Emperor Damien."

He snorts in response, "Okay, okay. Your courtyard is in the East wing."

Violetta gives another amused smile, though hidden from sight. This Emperor is the only one who would know that Violetta's appearance is supposed to be blond hair, since they've met before, but he didn't realize at all. Only caring about disdaining the princess in front of him, and how he was so much better than this stupid princess in front of him.

"Emperor, I have a request. I have heard many wonderful and romantic things about your love for Concubine Lotus, so I suggest this contract that will allow both of us not to interfere with each others' matters, with due respect of course."

He snorts again, and gestures to her to hand the contract papers over. She walks over with the scrolls and feather pen in hand. He snatches it over rudely and signs them perfunctorily.

Tossing one to his subordinate, he sneers, "You better follow out on the deal."

His hand brushes past hers, as he hands the scroll back. Of course this does not go past Concubine Lotus's gaze. She immediately glares at Violetta even though it wasn't Violetta who's at fault. Of course, Violetta noticed the glare, but could care less. All she could care about is internally vomiting about Damien. His attitude makes her feel sick.

Damien then continues to talk, "Also, don't address my darling as Concubine Lotus, know your place. You're only Empress in name, in my eyes, my Empress is only darling Lotus~"

"Aw, hubby~"

Violetta fights her desire to vomit, 'Pft- what excuse me these little brats, I'd never wanna be someone else's Empress much less yours little arrogant BRAT, you should know your place. And what Empress in name? I don't care if I'm 'your' Empress or not but I'm the one doing all the responsibilities, so of course I'm not just Empress in name.'

Violetta innocently tilts her head to the side, "What should I call her then? Sister Lotus?"

"..."

'Pfffttt-' Violetta fights the urge to vomit and burst out laughing, so badly her insides started to hurt weirdly.

Concubine Lotus gives her a death stare, absolutely disgusted.

Emperor Damien, completely dumbfounded and defeated, pretends as if he wasn't and lifts up the concubine, princess style.

"Come on honey, we don't need to deal with useless people."

"Kyaa~" she squeals coquettishly.

They sashay away with their entourage of maids, leaving Violetta pointing the middle finger at them with an are-you-for-real face, Kate laughing in the background, and Chris bursts out laughing, holding his sides, and rolling on the ground whisper screaming, "ROASTED!"

Of course all of this was not seen or heard by anyone other than the four of them.
