Chapter 25 - Magic Lesson // Don't Waste Food!

The group instinctively sigh in relief when they find the troublesome group of concubines leaving.

In an instance, calm and peaceful silence fills the air.

A small breeze fills the corridor and room, causing a stack of sheets to fall, awaking everyone to the mess in front of them.

Violetta finally has the time to think everything through and blinks a couple times. A series of thoughts run through her head. A surprised look shows on her face before she asks, "Wait, I did that?"

"Yep," Delta answers immediately.

She smiles happily. It's a pretty celebratory and happy event when someone finds out they have magic.

"Congratulations, you have a wind magic affinity!"

"Oh, wow," Violetta replies on reflex, half-heartedly.

She's still very surprised, after all this was magic… THE magic that happened in stories and fairy tales for children. As an adult in the technological society, she had already accepted the fact that magic is illogical and unreal. This one fact of her controlling magic flipped all the science, logic and morales in her mind...

"...wow…" Kate echoes.

With a half-hearted wave from a slender hand and a wish, a breeze sweeping all the scrolls and papers back on and around the desk in place, as if nothing happened.

Violetta stares at her hand, "Wow, really…"

Who would've seriously thought her, from the modern society with no magic, would actually get to experience this! It's like a miracle!

She immediately turns to Delta, "Please teach me more about magic!"

Delta agrees happily, seeing how joyous Violetta is.

After unpacking, they spend the next hours in the afternoon learning about magic. Delta uses her water magic to demonstrate and create shapes and pictures, while the students sit and learn. Both Chris and Kate join in on the private lesson, making it quite lively and fun learning about it.

"The basic elements: light, fire, water, wind, earth are only the surface of what is 'magic'. There are also ones with intermediate element affinities, for example: ice, lava, snow, etc. If you have an affinity with water, you can evolve it to ice and snow, and vice versa…."

Delta turns her head to the sparkling eyes full of expectancy and chuckles.

"My elements are water and earth. Chris, you have light magic, which I'm not quite sure about, so ask your brother and his supremacy for help. Violetta, you have wind magic. I know a bit, but not much since I don't have wind affinity."

"Ok, so starting with the basics. They're the same for any affinity. At the lowest level, first try sensing the mana in your body and bringing it to one point like this:"

Delta raises her hand, stretches it out and concentrates. Slowly, a blue light forms.

"The better you are at controlling your mana, you can make your affinity clearer."

The light blue sphere slowly takes the form of water and becomes clearer and clearer. Suddenly, Delta tosses the sphere in her mouth and smiles.

"Wha-?" Violetta looks at Delta, shocked.

"What? It's purified water. Of course I trust my ability."

Violetta's eyes sharpen in focus, "Wow…"

Next, Delta tells them to sit in a comfortable position. They follow her instructions and meditate. Then, they turn their attention to the particles around them and the mana in the air.

A short while later...

Kate suddenly exclaimed in delight, "Ah! Look at this!"

She holds up a red sphere in her palm. It looked a bit blurry but nevertheless, it is still there.

Delta peers down at the sphere, "It seems like you have a fire affinity."

Kate's eyes brighten up, sparkling, "Fire?!"

Violetta smiles encouragingly, "Good job!"

She gives Kate a playful punch, " Hey~ how dare you get a head start~"

"Sorry, your highness," Kate chuckles.

Violetta gives a stern stare, " You don't need to apologize, and it's Vi-o-le-tta-"

"Yes, Violetta."

Satisfied, she gives an innocent but warning smile.

They head to the B-graded dinner being served. Actually, it was even worse.

The maids showed absolutely no respect, sauntering in as if they were from the top of the world. Leaving the dishes, they twist with some exaggerated model walk and sashay towards the doorway.

Violetta felt genuinely worried for their hips, as she is such a nice doctor.

Violetta steps nonchalantly, inspecting the food as a specimen, wafting her hand to catch a whiff of almost undetectable, disgusting scents of the mild flavored food.

Like a scientist, she handles the plate with care and frowns, creasing the skin between her eyebrows.

The hand holding the plate loosens, as the pile of food dumps into the garbage. As the 'food' fell into the trash, anyone could see the disgusting tricks of the maids. From loose hair that 'accidentally' dropped into the food to bugs that 'randomly' crawled into the dishes, fully covered by the food; it was absolutely, utterly, disgusting.

Kate wrinkles her face, as she looks at the trash falling to where it belongs.

"Sigh, they even wasted perfectly fine food to cover that … garbage…" she comments.

A silent, enraged aura shrouds the air.

The young mage shakes with anger. Her dark brown hair seemed to burn in rage.

"How dare they! Wasting food like this!"

"Delta?" Violetta looks over curiously.

"Ah, big sis," Chris calls out, "Sister Delta's biggest pet peeve is wasting food…"

An imaginary brilliant vermillion colored fire blazes on the furious water user who storms into the kitchen teaching all the disrespectful, annoying maids a good lesson and a bonus lecture.

Violetta, Chris, and Kate follow behind and they soon arrive at the scene. Delta has already gotten her hands on the maids, scaring them to no end.

While Delta was teaching the disrespectful servants a lesson, Violetta led Kate and Chris with her to the side, whipping up some amazing dishes. Chris hands over a long wooden cooking spatula, and Violetta fries some rice and vegetables, successfully making a dish of light and moist fried rice. As instructed, Chris puts another plate over the fried rice to cover the aroma.

Meanwhile, Kate hands her the next set of food and the process goes on for a good half hour before Violetta tells Delta that they should head back.

"You guys can come sit too, I can't finish this all by myself," Violetta motions for the trio to come over.

"Ah, we can't your hi- Violetta," Kate responds, her hands waving in the air, flustered.

"It's fine, come sit."

Chris is the first to go over, attracted by the amazing, sparkling food and delicious aroma.

Kate's stomach growls as she slowly starts to make her way over.

It wasn't sure when Delta made it over, but she exclaims, "Wow, this is amazing!"

The crew eats a healthy light dinner before heading to their quarters.

Once the door closes, Violetta looks down at her plain small bed. She sighs, remembering that she's being mistreated here.

"I wonder how long it'll take to deal with this mess. I can't wait to leave and travel this interesting new world!"
