Chapter 1 - I'm up, you don't have to yell at me!

"Awoooooo" came a sound outside the apartment windows, in the early hours of the day.

"Awooooo!" it kept going on and on.

Because of living in a rundown district at the edges of the city, Lev was used to hearing dogs bark and howl at night.

yet this time it was different, the howl wasn't coming from a dog, not even a wolf. It sounded like a kid with a sore throat was trying to mimic a wolf's howl.

The damned child was annoying and disturbing, thus Lev could no longer sleep. With a little wobble, he sat up on his bed and looked at the digital watch next to him.

[5:41] "Five... FIVE! FIIIIVE O"CLOCK! WHO THE FU** LETS THEIR KID PLAY OUTSIDE AT FIVE FU**ING O"CLOCK!"

Lev was livid, he had an important work meeting yesterday that lasted for 6 hours, yet these annoying brats were ruining HIS REST!

Quickly putting on some clothes, he rushed to the balcony to teach the annoying sem*n demons a lesson, yet when he was about to start yelling he froze.

"I know I called them demons, but are they actually demons? why are they carrying bloody knives around! whats up with these kids?!"

after he crouched down to get cover behind the balcony rails, he started observing the 'kids' with a clear head.

They were not kids

"those are not kids "

They were not Human

"holy moly, Goblins? slap my nuts and call me Bart! what the fuck is going on around here?"

Lev was flabbergasted.

he rushed back inside and locked every window and door. he took out his collapsible police baton and a big kitchen knife and sat on the living room couch without blinking.

his phone was not working and he was barely holding himself together.

this went on for a while, until a sound was heard from outside his apartment's door, the walls were paper thin so Lev could easily hear it coming from the stairs one floor below.

Lev lived on the 7th floor, and below him lived Uncle Zack. but Lev knew that Zack went to his grandkid's first school concert a few cities away and was going to stay there for a while.

Lev also knew that no sane person would be up at...

[6:17] ...

"oh..., I guess its still an option"

Lev though that no sane person would be up at 6 in the morning making a scratching and grumbling noises.

whatever it was, it must have been either, a Goblin or another monster, or a dog.

Dog?...

"why were the Goblins howling?"

"could they be hunting dogs or lone wolves that have lost their pack?"

It was a great guess, because it was 100% correct.

Lev got his weapons ready and slowly made his way out onto the stair case. he wanted to help the dog out, because street dogs were friendly compared to Goblins who were carrying rusty knives with possibly human blood on them.

He made his way down to the 6th floor slowly, as to not attract the hunting Goblins from outside.

Lev went to Uncle Zack's door and slowly leaned in to take a look.

'THAT'S NOT A PUPPY'

It was not a puppy

'THAT'S NOT A DOG'

It was neither a dog

'Sh*t, Sh*t...' he went up stairs with the same grace he came down with 'Sh*t... Sh*t...'

that went on until he locked the door and sat back on the living room couch.

It was a big brown wolf, that was wandering around Uncle Zack's apartment. the wolf seemed to be hurt as it kept grumbling and scratching the floor with one of its paws as it moved around, leaving small splashes of blood everywhere it went.

The option of having a cool dog partner was thrown out of the window as fast as it had appeared.

suddenly a loud crash was heard from downstairs and was followed with an even louder whimpering noise.

Most people would think that this would be the optimal time to check out the wolf, possibly help it out and befriend it. But Lev had not yet forgotten about the main problem.

Instantly the Goblins could be heard making their way up the stairs, laughing like total maniacs.

They were on a hunt, and they were going to hunt. there was no fear in their crazed eyes, because this was their whole shtick, they hunted weak or strong but wounded creatures with bigger numbers and simple but deadly effective tactics.

There was no longer any hope for the wolf, it's fate had been sealed the moment the Goblins started hunting it down.

When Lev was in school he was a decent fighter, there were many better than him but he still fought, he always returned home with small bruises, but later on he needed to get himself together and get a job that would let him survive in the wild wild world... yet his job was now useless in this new wilder world.

Now he needed to return to his old mindset, he needed to unlock the past that he tried to forget, he needed to survive.

The Fighting lasted for around 20 minutes, Lev knew that the Goblins would lose some numbers or at least end up wounded and tired from such a long fight.

By the time the fighting had stopped, Lev had already gotten ready for a big fight, he dropped some items on the floor and turned on a battery powered razor in the back room to attract the Goblins and then hid behind his unlocked door with his weapons ready.

The Goblins laughed, they laughed at the thought of getting double the meat for their green disgusting bellies.

Five of the Goblins went upstairs quickly whilst seven others stayed behind to carry away the dead wolf.

Lev was ready, his hands were a little shaky but he was ready. His gray eyes cold and focused, almost looking like mercury.

The Goblins slowly opened the unlocked door and made their way towards the back room where the sound of the razor was coming from, they didn't even look around because of their arrogance, they thought they were the kings of this region.

And now that arrogance was going to get them killed. Lev waited until all of them went past him, and then silently locked the door behind them.

he readied the knife in his hand and quickly stabbed the neck of the rearmost Goblin, before the body dropped the knife already found its second home in the second Goblin's head, dripping with dark green rancid blood.

when the first body dropped on the ground the others were alarmed, they turned around and were about to attack when a cold steel baton made two Goblin's faces crumple in, the sound of their tiny sculls cracking and breaking was loud, even their devilish smiles were colored with blood and the last Goblin's face was covered with his 'comrades' blood and brain matter, its face now full of horror.

They were supposed to be the kings, they were supposed to be Gods among trash, yet the glowing silver eyes would disagree.

In the dark corridor only the silver eyes could be seen, and those silver eyes instilled unimaginable fear into the lone Goblin.

He was no God. He was no King, he was trash just like the rest of their previous prey.
