Chapter 4 - RUN!

[You dumb*ss, you could've used an assassin's skill to hide from their senses, but you chose those useless skill, look what happened next!]

Lev was a bit dumb, but he knew how to fight. The Goblins split in two and rushed at his hiding place from 11 O'clock and 1 O'clock, cackling and growling with every step they made. the sounds they made could instill primal fear in many weak willed souls.

Lev didn't wait for them to attack first and instantly used [Layman's Rush], his strength instantly increasing from 8 to 18, immediately his muscles start bulging, veins start looking like cobras, slithering around his body, his mind was filled with adrenaline.

He felt like a god.

He rushed to his left with the metal baton and cracked 3 Goblin's skulls with a single swing, the baton made a terrifying sound when it split the air, sadly because of its foldability, its rigidness was weakened and bent out of shape, becoming useless.

Dropping the baton on the ground, Lev picked up one of the downed Goblin's stick, but he was sloppy, and during that sloppiness, a Goblin managed to stab at his shoulder when he leaned down.

A bloody knife was inserted in his shoulder, yet he couldn't feel any pain. He didn't notice the attack and ignored it, the knife snapped in two, leaving its tip in Lev's shoulder.

Lev kept using the Goblin's wooden sticks as one use weapons, and kept killing, soon he collected plenty of wounds, but fortunately most of them were small cuts and bruises.

the battle lasted a bit longer than his previous one, but he still had more than a minute on his [Laymen's Rush].

Lev quickly cut up the bodies and collected the gems, leaving him with only 20 seconds left to his PowerUp.

[Run! Quickly get out of here!] the system yelled at him in his head, Lev acknowledged the System's warnings and used his remaining 20 seconds to return to his apartment as fast as possible.

The added 10 points in strength was astounding, the speed was a little hard to get used to but he managed to get back home with 3 seconds remaining. if anyone watched him run, they would have only seen his shadow dash through the grassy streets.

But as soon as he entered the apartment the seconds came to an end, he couldn't properly lock up the door before his body convulsed on the floor, and passed out from the pain.

Lev only woke up after 5 hours passed, luckily nothing had come to his apartment and tried to open the doors, or they would have found a tasty meal ready and prepared only for them.

Even after the 5 hour rest, Lev's body was still in pain, but most of the pain had already subsided. in those five hours quite a bit of blood has been lost, but most of his wounds were superficial thus only a few bled.

Lev was starving, his body was in pain, and he needed food to recover the lost blood. But before all that he used his lvl 1 [Psychokinesis] skill to tightly close up the bleeding wounds.

The starvation got worse after using his mind to close his wounds, and he didn't have any more fuel for the portable stove, Lev had to get his hands dirty and suck up his previous civilized ways, He needed to eat the leftover goblins raw.

Lev was truly disgusted, but his pain wouldn't subside by acting like a civilized man, he needed to return all of his evolved instincts to their primal form and consume his prey raw.

Looking at the mangled corpses, Lev blacked out, his mind went blank, but his body kept moving. he went up to the corpses and started tearing them up with his bear hands.

Chunk by chunk, piece by peace the mangled corpses were devoured, the stench of Goblin blood and the intensely gruesome scene would make anyone faint in seconds.

Lev's mind was empty, but his stomach was slowly filling up, sadly it was too slow.

Lev ignored his hands and started devouring the meat straight from the bodies with his mouth, like a rabid dog.

He kept gnawing on the muscle fibers, sucking and chewing on the intestines, even the eyeballs could't escape his hunger.

Throughout all of this, his mind kept the wounds shut and forced the food down into his stomach so he wouldn't subconsciously throw up the rancid Goblin meat. soon his stomach was filled and the corpses were nothing more than bones.

Lev was alerted by a notification [Psychokinesis Lvl 2] and then passed out once more from eating and entered a quick food coma.

****

When Lev woke up, his wounds had already healed. after a long time of silence the System finally spoke again.

[Umm... about the points you gained yesterday... you can use 10SP to gain 1 point in any of your stats] It seemed to be acting awkwardly after yesterdays events.

"uh..., stats? can I not buy new skills? like the ones you told me about?" Lev asked with a tired voice, he was suffering from a headache, thankfully his body had recovered after using [Layman's Rush] to its maximum.

[That was a limited time offer, now skills cost at least 3x as much as it did before. That's why I was persisting on you buying skills that would be usable for your survival,] The System answered with a downtrodden, yet somehow lifeless robotic voice.

[How would you use Layman's Rush in a survival situation? Roid out for 3 minutes and then pass out and get eaten? at least you leveled up Psychokinesis to Lvl 2 and can use it with less effort, but the affectable range of mass is still pretty low, around the mass of a pencil.]

"huh." Lev couldn't even spare too much energy to answer properly.

His apartment looked like a chemical plant had a spill, there was dried Goblin blood everywhere mixed with bits of Lev's blood, creating a concoction of foul smells.

There even was a pile of bones with tiny bits of flesh still attached, probably the bits Lev couldn't get his teeth on. yet the worst of all was the tiny vines and moss growing in the middle of the room, where most of the *Goblin Matter* was.

It seemed like, the plants in this world were not the same as the plants from his old world. Lev was frightened by the sight of plants growing right next to him. If he failed to wake up he could've been home to the roots of these plants.

That was a pretty scary sight.

[You have yet to cash in your Beast Cores, you have 11 in total, sadly Goblins are only low level mobs and their cores give you 1SP each,] Low level mobs were easy to kill but the growth of the hunter would be limited by hunting low levels creatures.

[At the moment you can gain 2 status points, if you cash in the beast cores. It might not seem like much, but in your case every little bit helps] The System continued with its explanation.

Without thinking too much, Lev cashed in all of his Beast Cores and used them to upgrade his strength from 8 points to 10.

"Round em up-" Now Lev's status looked like this [Str:10 Dex:6 Int:7 Wis:13]

"Hmm.. maybe I should go out hunting solo creatures until my status is well rounded..., what do you think System?"

[In most cases being a Jack Of All Trades is not good but it can be pretty useful for you whilst you hunt alone, you'll need all the help you can get from the status upgrades] The System didn't seem too optimistic about Lev's decision but it was not against it.
