Flanked by chainmail-clad guards on each of our sides, we descended the tower. Upon reaching the outside, a gilded carriage with four horses waited for us.
"This will bring you to the front of the castle." said one of the guards.
Sein offered me a hand as I stepped into the carriage. As I accepted it, I was again hit by the strangeness of our casualness. I'd fallen in love with someone who wore his face. The thought was not easy to shake away.
Dahlia and I sat side by side whilst Sein took the opposite bench. The coachman whipped the horses to a slow run. Along with the clanking of horse hooves on the cobblestones, my heart pounded vigorously.
"Do you remember what we'd talked about?" Sein asked the both of us, his face unreadable.
I noticed Dahlia fidgeting with the ribbon on her cloak. Neither of us seemed prepared for what we were about to do.
"What... what if innocent people get hurt, Sein?" Dahlia said, uncertainty in her voice.
