Clear skies, blinding sunlight and fresh air.. I let out a breath of relief. It feels good to be alone at times. I was always with Vene and Yuna, but today, is different. I walked out of the class screaming at our teacher, Deither. It wasn't intentional though. I don't know why I did, perhaps it was because he called me a kid. Bit by bit, I am hating the fact that I am one. I want to grow fast and become an adult, so I can stand tall next to the person I am in love with.
"Hello," I jumped when I heard somebody speaking behind me. "All alone?"
I rotated my head around, seeing the person I shouted at earlier. "What are you doing here?"
He shrugs, walking near the bars and resting his arms on them. The cool yet warm breeze hits his face as his bangs flew over his forehead. Deither slowly closed his eyes, his lips drawing a beautiful smile across his face.
"I just wanted to check on my student, who thinks that I am a jerk," he replied and I looked down to the ground.
"Look, I apologize for calling you that.." I began, fiddling with my fingers and tucking in my hair behind my ear. The wind is messing up with it. "I just really don't like it when people call me-"
"-A kid?" He interrupted, as I bring my eyes up to look at him. Deither turns around to face me, putting one hand inside his jeans while my eyes remain on him.
"Who is it that you like?"
"Eh?" I gasped.
"Was it really someone at my age? Or was he double my age?"
I glared. "He's 24."
"So am I." He remarked, "So what's his name?"
I looked away, soon then turning to my front and rested my arms on the cold metal. "You know him.. it's Seven."
"That's not surprising."
"What?"
"It's no wonder that you'll like him, you work together. You see each other almost everyday.."
I blushed. "I didn't like him before! I-I see him as an older brother..!"
Deither gave me a teasing smirk, gazing at me with squinted eyes. "Do you really?"
"Really!"
"Why don't you tell him?"
"Huh?"
Deither moved away from the bar and sits on the ground near by the exit, probably to shelter himself from the sun. While I remained on where I stand, leaning against the metal and looking at him.
"Let him know how you feel, isn't that what people normally do when they are in love with somebody? Seven might feel the same way about you."
I shook my head with a small smile. "He treats me like you do."
"Pardon me?"
"A kid." I finished, now walking over to him and sitting beside my Math teacher. "That is why I dislike it when people call me a child. It reminds me of him. So there is zero possibility that Seven might like me, he took us in out of pity."
"Wait-" he exclaimed. "He took you in?!"
"Yeah, I mean.. we are living with him."
"Hold on!" Deither jumped up and pointed a finger at me as I raised him an eyebrow. "You are living together with a man!? With the twins?! With Seven?!"
"Is it bad?"
"Of course it is! Duh!" He shouts, "Were you sober when you decided that?! Sanara, whether you are in love with him or not, Seven is still a man!"
"I know! That slipped into my mind!"
"Then why the hell are you living with him right now?! Is that the reason why you didn't take the apartment, even though you really liked it?!"
"I didn't have enough money! You know that!"
"You could find for another apartment that is cheaper!"
"Seven was kind enough to take us all in! There is no one that I know that would consider letting us live in their place but him!"
"Do I look like I would let you sleep in the streets?!"
"Well, would you have taken us in if I had told you that we had no place to go?!"
"Yes!" Deither shouts back to me, which left me stunned. I didn't expect him to answer yes.
"Well, I would have given you my apartment and I would find myself another one," he muttered and now looking away from me.
"Your apartment isn't cheap," I argued.
"But you will have a home."
"We are not staying in his house forever, there will be a time where we will leave. This is only temporary. When I have saved enough money, we will move out of his place. It is not like we are his family.. I am indebted to him, if not for him, I cannot be with Savannah and Sylvester."
Deither sighs, running his long fingers through his hair as his lips popped a 'p' sound. I appreciate him for worrying about me, but it is not only because that I like Seven, that I let this happen. Thinking that I do not have to pay him any rent or expenses, that we are living there for free, I can totally sleep peacefully at night. The twins are never out of my sight and I won't have to worry about them every singe day. Since the day that our parents left this world, I got to see how the real world works, and it isn't really easy. Finding a perfect job, let alone making money..
"Can you really trust him?"
"Who?"
"Seven."
I nodded quickly. "Seven is a good man. And he surely treats me as his little sister, there is no way that he would ever disrespect his sister. You have Cleo, would you ever do something bad to her?"
"I love Cleo." Deither confidently replied, crossing his arms and smirking at me. "I love her more than anything."
"Sister complex." I whispered.
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing.. I said nothing."
"You did! You said I have sister complex!"
"Oh I did? That's weird.. I don't remember myself mentioning that.."
"You better study page 34, I will call you tomorrow for a graded recitation. You will solve the hardest equation!"
"But I suck at Math!"
"That is not my problem.."
"Deither!"
He spins himself around with grace, before lifting his right hand to wave at me.
"Goodbye, Copley.."
Study Math? I would rather study Science!
